zombie baby in DOTD04

As I recall, in DOTD04, they shot the zombie baby even though they were running low on amunition. Anyone think it was necessary to waste a bullet on the zombie baby? To me, the baby posed no harm so that bullet would have best been kept for real threat of a zombie. I mean, really, what could that zombie baby have done, other than make some noise. If anything, they should have kept it to learn more about their enemies.

If I walked in on that orgy of carnage I would just do whatever was necessary to squash the drama. Two humans that just shot each other to death and a zombie with a hole in it's head that was tied up to a bed S&M style. Oh, look! A zombie baby! No questions asked. Shoot it. Put it out of it's misery.

They had to do it. It was one of the living dead. No matter how large, old, sex or decomposed, it's still a threat to everyone in it's surroundings. I don't know about you, but I don't want to kill an infant. If I have to, just as fast as possible with the least mess and gore...

Of course, they could have put it outside to find surrogate zombie parents. It could have played out like a new zed story.

Like Ken put it, better them, than me. humans have mastered the art of killing, and brutallity, that is why we never became an extint spieces, we are good at killing, by the time the infant appeared the survivors in the mall have seen hell on earth, nichole seen her whole family wipe out, ken blew her fathers zombie head off. under those condition you become quit brutal, and your sitting in that mall every day, worried about how much ammo you have left, saving a bullet will be a major consideration.

I agree that survivors who endure a Zombie outbreak, for a lengthy amount of time, will eventually become desensitized to many things... To save on ammo and other valuable supplies is one thing, but I would probably wrap in in sheets, then take it out back, and use a club or something... I think you have some good points there. I mean if push comes to shove they could have taken the butt of the gun to its head or even stamped on it. Probably wouldn't have gone down too well with sensitive audiences though.

I'm not quite sure what they could have learnt from a baby zombie though. Behaviour possibly, but nothing of any other great worth

Along the "been in the army" line, then You should easily be able to admit that quite alot of people in the military, when put under such severe degrees of stress, shoot before they think, correct?...

Did the ideal of saving a bullet and crushing a zombies babies head shock you? Did that mental image disturb you? did it disturb anyone else? Isnt that horror movies are about, to scare you. Like a thread on ATZ about what was the last horor movie you watched really scare you? How many slasher films can you watch before you become desensetized to killing, serial killers. how much blood , and gore makes a horror movie. how many Texas Chainsaw movies, or movie similar can you watch before the princible of a horror movie is lost, that its allmost comedic, how many horror movie body counts. If you dont what to try new realms of horror / zombie whats the point of being a horror movie buff, maybe Im right, Maybe Im wrong on the subject on where the art form of cinematic horror is at now, or which direction its heading. If anyone knew this and could put it down on paper, maybe thier lifelong dream to make it inside the horror film industry could come true. A lot of people did not like the ideal of DOTD 04 concept of running zombies, but its different take on the old ideal of slow lumbering versions of zombies. A lot of people did not like LOTD, But George Romero trys out new ideals on zombies in cinema, smarter zombies. To me why not? its a different concept from what we think George Romero zombies are. They talk , and where smart in ROTLD.

I hate to bring reality into play here, but the baby should have been still-born, I'm not a docotor, but it seems like the virus that creates zombies would have killed the baby in the womb. Which was the exact point I was trying to convey - that in times of stress, people oft act before thinking, hence why they shot the kid in the brain pan instead of conserving their much needed ammunition...
