i've noticed in almost all zombie movies that all the living dead are clean shaven, why is this? if george romero became zombified would his beard fall off?

Do you have any idea how long it takes to apply hair to latex?

Makes sense since none of the zombies used latex since they all looked intact except for some pinkish fake blood rubbed on their faces. Day of the Dead was a different story... tons of latex in that one.

Maybe all Zombies are former IBMers, or they are associated with the New York Yankees organization.

Hmmm...
If GAR could make his beard just 'fall right off', that would be quite a feat... David Blaine might be interested in how he pulled that one off. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y152/bzn123/Smileys/Characters/disguise.gif http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y152/bzn123/Smileys/Characters/magician.gif

Yeah, Dawn had quite a few bearded zombies. But that was Dawn. Scruffy, ugly dudes with gross flanelette shirts on. Love the movie to bits, but for a zombie perve, really shit.

no, not really... as only women wear makeup. i'm talking about real zombies anyways not hollywood zombies. and the couple i've seen were clean shaven. however in the movie redneck zombies i do recall some of the hillbillys had facial hair.

I haven't run into many "real" zombies (just a couple really) and none of them had any facial hair... well one of them did have someones scalp hanging from it's mouth and it still had some hair on it... anyway...

lol I can see the title now. Midafternoon of the bearded zombies.

In all seriousness though It make sense to not bother to take that much time to mess with hair and latex for a non key zombie. I'm sure in the mob of DOTD '04 some of them had beards but they were non key members wearing minimal makeup so it makes sense there. Still I would like to see a zombie with half it's face falling off with a beard attached to the flapping skin. Something cinematic about that.

Well a more thematic reason could be that the flesh around holding the hair rots off, and since most facial hair is in the soft tissue: one could argue it just falls out.

But the realistic reason as stated above, facial hair and long hair and latex make up do not mix.

Being of the bearded face clan, i decided to see how safe i was from zombification because of my hairy chin and upper lip. some study followed.

Day of the dead indeed has bearded helicopter zombie
serpent and the rainbow has graveyard guy (but he's not really dead)
shaun of the dead has the roadie twins and ed
land has big daddy, blades and santa (although that may be false)
manchester morgue has a couple
dead meat has the hairiest (hang on thats a cow) but vacume cleaner man has a beard and he's not a cow
undead does a good line in tashes

all in all i conclude
dont bother growing a beard to escape it dosn't work

unfortunatly not true, everything stops growing when you die.
However skin loses moisture and shrinks back just showing more of the hair folical and nails. teeth get larger too as the gums retract.

The human body is a magnificent thing but dead is dead.

Finger nails don’t carry on growing, it’s the skin rots away to reveal more. Because as there is no intake of calcium, they have no resources to grow.

now, what happens to the zombies in wheelchairs? do they end up being the crawly zombies? or would they magically be able to walk again?

If I'm repeating anyone, please don't beat me, but I heard most of the mob of zombies in DOTD '04 were CG, and copied over, then blurred up and ran at separate times to look different. At least the ones in the huge bird's eye mall shots. So in conclusion, if I were CGing zombies, I would totally forget to give some of them beards or moostachios.

As for May_Of_The_Dead's comment, usually, the disabled have gotten a point in their spinal cord severed or otherwise obstructed, so not many disabled people would walk as zombies.

See, Pain? I went a whole 10 minutes without spamming. Proud of me?

But Return of the Living Dead has a little person. Looked funny when he ran...

Why aren't there more little people (Midgets) in Zombie Movies? Simple. A Zombie walks up to a little person and bends over to bite the little person and falls over. The little person runs away. That's why little people are not in zombie movies. Its to hard for Zombies to eat or infect little people. Really I don't know why.

I second that.

A lotta Gents I know don't have facial hair because of work requirements. Mostly Moustaches or goatees or whatever their job lets them get away with. Fashion plays into it as well.
