According to Variety & THC, Argento's final installment in the Three Mothers Trilogy has been officially titled, The Mother of Tears!

Just a quick update: Variety is reporting from Cannes that Dario Argento is getting ready to shoot his latest "Three Mothers" film, which is apparently now officially called The Mother of Tears.

Adam Gierasch and Jace Anderson co-scripted with Argento, who will helm the pic in his native Rome. Though no details have yet come out as to what the film will be about, the trade does called it a "tale of witches and suicide". Nice!

Medusa is co-funding the picture with an American company who has still yet to be named but supposedly will be at the film festival. Keep it here for the latest!

You can talk all day about movies. What's far more interesting is actually watching them. Held off on talking about Argento's 'The Third Mother' then, because I consider them experiences rather than things that warrant much discussion of and so I would just say I can't recommend earlier (I suppose upto 'Phenomena'; mid-1980's) Argento more if you like unexplainable, unsettling, bizarre movies. Following the two earlier films in the trilogy, long since 'Inferno' and 'Suspiria', 2007 sees 'The Third Mother' ('La Terza Madre'). I'm not sure this'll ever see a box set unfortunately as Blue Underground have pretty much "reclaimed" their Argento & Fulci films from Anchor Bay. Unless Blue Underground are able to acquire this new film for Region 1 release it's highly doubtful we'll ever see a trilogy box set.

Now, a GENERAL Argento box set I can see possibly happening.

"The date of release for "the Third Mother" is likely to now be 31 October 2007, Halloween (pushed back from May).

There is some unfortunate news on censoring of the film: the censors have seen the definitive and by now ready version of "the Third Mother" and have found it to be too bloody-thirsty and violent. They have asked Dario Argento to cut numerous scenes and several special effects that it has deemed 'excessive'.

I don't come to this forum much, usually just the zombie stuff. I am however, as stoked as you two, Pain and Blind Dead. The pics so far look awesome. They smack of those old-school mega-surreal violent Euro horror films from the 80's. The heyday of Fulci, Bava and of course, Argento. The pic of the wierd dude stabbing a chick really captures that vibe! I'm praying Argento still has the chops to deliver on this. I don't think I've ever been so schizo on what I expect or hope for in a movie. I mean, it's the final chapter of the Mothers Trilogy! Will it be as hyper-stylish as Suspiria? Do I want it to be? Will it have the total nightmare logic of Inferno? Should it? Will it FEEL like the third film in the series? I can't f*cking take it! I'm gonna have to get frozen or something until this comes out.

I believe the release date has been brought forward from 31st October to the 18th October. Although I think this is the Europena release date. I'm guessing that we won't see it in the US until next year:-(
