Yea there were huge differences. Romero was doing it as a straight-up "Resident Evil" adaption, you know how the movie should've been done. But I think the producers thought it was too close to the game which I don't get because that would the point of adapting a video game. But anyways the script originally had the chracters from the game and the mansion, and everything else. So yeah there's a major difference.
