I realize it's still over a year away, but there will probably be a teaser trailer in the next few months so I figured why not go ahead and start up the inevitable thread! Let it be known that I am a HUGE Simpsons fan, and am VERY excited about their movie which is slated to come out about the same time, but a live action Transformers flick will DEFINITELY be the highlight of next summers line up.

This film has got me really excited, "real" Transformers! That'll be so cool! I just hope they base it on the original cartoon and not Armarda. Damn, silly mini-cons.

Yeah the Simpsons intro is broadcast over here, as an advert for Sky1, but the best UK advert has to be the Mini advert from a few years ago where a couple are trapped in their Mini by attacking zombies:)

I'm dying for this movie, too. Transformers has been on a downword spiral in quality, with the exception of the G1 reissues and the Alternators - and things are finally starting to come back around.
If a tear doesn't run down my face when the film starts to roll, it'll be because I'm dead.

I was old enough to have the glory of the original transformers. But my golden age was also spent on watching Beast Wars. Man that show was great. Me and a few of my friends still have discussions on what happened on that show.. losers:doh: . Now the show that took its place Beast Machines.. was total shit.

OMG, I cant believe that there was a thread on this and i havent even posted yet.
I love TF's. Im not a fan of the new shows, but love the new toy lines. (I cant believe im 27 and still go to Toys R Us and buy TF toys. I love BW as well, the best written show in the TF universe, although some would argue that Beast Machines was it. I found that series to be too different and strange....Cybertron having an organic core.....anyways!
Im looking forward to the movie, the toy line tie in, and the overall revival of Generation one, the series from '84!.

The Simpsons movie isn't gonna be live action. They did a live action opening sequence a month or so ago on the Sunday night episode, but the movie is gonna be animated. I don't think I would want to see it otherwise.

I bought the Transformers marvel comics when they came out. Only bought a couple of the toys, mind... Gears and the wee yellow VW beetle, who was described as the weakest autobot...
I remember one of the comics had a story where Spiderman and Gears teamed up together for some reason (it was when Spiderman was still wearing the symbioite costume that Venom now sports). Gears got mangled, somehow, and Optimus Prime had to arrange getting him reassembled...
Halcyon days... :)

You've got the Touch! You've got the Powaaaaaaahhhhhhh! *cue cheezy guitar riff*
Ahhh good old Stan Bush, what a super star..... Im surprised his career didnt take off after that mega hit.
Here are the sweet lyrics..... and they are suprisingly homo erotic.
You've got the touch, you've got the power.
Yeah.
After all is said and done, you never walk,
you never run, you're a winner.
You got the moves, you know the streets,
break the rules, take the heat, you're nobody's fool.
You're at your best when the going gets rough,
You've been put to the test but it's never enough.
You got the the touch, you got the power.
When all hell's breaking loose,
you'll be right in the eye of the storm.
You got the heart, you got the motion.
You know that when things get too tough,
you got the touch.
You never bend, you never break, you seem to know
just what it takes. You're a fighter
It's in the blood, it's in the will, it's in the mighty
hands of steel. When you're standin your ground.
And you never *give in* when you're back's to the wall
gonna fight till the end and you're taking it all.
You got the touch, you got the power,
when all hell's breaking loose,
you'll be right in the eye of the storm.
You got the heart, you got the motion.
You know that when things get too tough, you got the touch.
You're fighting fire with fire.
You know you got the touch.
You're at your best when the going gets rough,
you've been put to the test but it's never enough.
You got the touch, you got the power.
Yeah.
*tear rolls down cheek* I wish I had the touch.....

Good news about Optimus Prime...
Cullen is the Voice of Optimus Prime
Source: Superhero Hype! July 21, 2006
The original voice of Transformers' Optimus Prime, Peter Cullen, will also voice the character in Paramount's anticipated big screen adaptation. Cullen made the announcement over the phone during the studio's presentation at the San Diego Comic-Con today.
Transformers, directed by Michael Bay, hits theaters on July 4, 2007.

But the contest at the bottom sounds like something we could all make fun of! Let's see, if I wanted Optimus Prime to say something that I would say in the movie, it would be.........
Autobots:
Optimus Prime
Bumblebee
Jazz
Ratchet
Ironhide
Decepticons:
Megatron
Starscream
Brawl
Bonecrusher
Barricade
Scorponok
Frenzy
Blackout
Orci and Kurtzman also announced that there will be a contest on the official website soon in which you send in a line that Optimus Prime should say in the movie. The studio will pick one line that will make it in the film.

I'm guessing that you haven't seen a lot of tractor trailer rigs if you think that flames are strange, but I digress. As for "different colored" - does that refer to the fact that he's not almost all-red? The other Transformers aren't exactly the same, either - I think it would have been a little dumb to have the TFs come to earth in the year 2007 and take alternate modes of 20-25 year old cars...
zombiekilling101
08-24-2006, 03:26 AM
Were not talking about the amount of flamed big rigs I have seen.. im saying that if they go with a flamed optimus its going to be them trying to make him seem more "cool"
also I didnt say anything about them coming to earth and taking the form of 20 year old cars.
I live in CA and for the about 500 rigs I see.. I see maybe 1 flamed one. There not common here.

And fell over laughing when i heard "OH Shit" in the transformers movie, that was such an 80's thing that would NEVER fly in an animated kids movie now.

Ya know, I am still really looking forward to this movie...but the biggest gripe I have is that the Transformers really don't look like the vehicles that they become. I mean, I know they're "Robots in Disguise" and all...but they look almost too robotic (if that is possible) when they are up and walking around. Kind of ruins it for me.

"Blockbuster" has become an industry term dealing with action, special effects and huge advertising budgets. Nothing to do with how a film does at the box office or what the quality of the film is.
This flick looks like it will be a great example of how kick ass special effects without a good story just makes for a lousy film. I hope I am wrong.
Just saw the trailer at the movies and I have to say it looks freaken awesome! I really like what they did with the some of the scenes. The hologram in the helicopter scene is a cool idea. But I don't seem to remember a helicopter Decepticon. I wonder what characters are going to be in the movie?

Just saw the trailer at the movies and I have to say it looks freaken awesome! I really like what they did with the some of the scenes. The hologram in the helicopter scene is a cool idea. But I don't seem to remember a helicopter Decepticon. I wonder what characters are going to be in the movie?
There was a helicopter Decepticon. His name was Vortex. You can find out more here:

Weel, the movie just received the highest ever audience appreciation rating for a Bay flick, with a 92 score. Then again, people are stupid.
Nah, I'm excited about this one, simply because it only felt like yesterday that I was sitting on the carpet with my Optimus Prime, making sounds. :-( I could do with this movie being awesome after the disappointment of Spidey 3 and relative lack of any other decent 'BIG' movies coming out for the remainder of the year. No amount of flames or lips on Prime is going to keep me away from this.

Is this that trailer? I can't really tell if that's a boombox or not underneath the chair. I always pictured Soundwave as a bit bigger.

I like the new design of Bumblebee, but have to get used to Starscream's leg design, which resembles the back legs of a four legged mammal.
Longtime fan of the Transformers, so this film is a must-see. Hopefully, the robots are the stars of the film by the finale, but I'll guess the first 40 minutes will be build up, where the humans plan war-room strategies against the robot invasion, without seeing much robot action.

Transformers 2007
In 1984 I was 7 years old. I had it all... He Man, GI Joe, and the Transformers... Now pushing 30 I don't wake up for cartoons anymore but I'll still drive 60 miles to be one of the first people in the state to watch anything affiliated with these. I was going to try to give a really accurate review, but I don't have the patience for the right words so here we go.
06/28/2007 10:55 PM
Nearly 1 hr after I exited the premiere of Transformers my heart still beats like a hummingbird's. Every time my eyes close I see Optimus Prime. Maybe it's the shitty residue I'm smoking or the fact I just got done re-living some of my youth through watching a movie made by Michael Bay? Come on! This dude normally lives to make movies I hate. Was it Spielberg's influence that steered this in the right direction? I don't know and I don't care. I was really pleased with the casting and the voices. The story could of used some work...a lot of work. The computer animation was brilliant absolutely beautiful. Bravo. I did have a little beef with the look of the Decepticons not much resembelence to the characters in the cartoon. Plus I had trouble telling them apart most of the time. It's rated PG-13, but I think they could of gotten away with a PG. There was more swearing in the cartoon Movie from the 80's. Once again attrattive high school kids are helping to save world. It's a kids movie so I can deal with this. Overall, anyone who enjoyed the Transformers in their youth will not regret seeing this.

Plenty of war-room/military strategies as expected in a Michael Bay big budget film. Wanted more Transformers and less people, but this was a people movie with supporting Transformers.
Then again, they're making a live action movie, not a cartoon series. Prefer the cartoon series, but this was interesting. Megatron, Blackout(helicopter), Barricade(cop car) and Starscream(jet) were cool. Bumblebee looked cool, along with a few Autobots.
----------------
I can't imagine any other way to make a Transformers movie than to use CGI; which was well done here. Stop motion, actual vehicles that transformed into robots, and other methods probably would pale in comparison in this case.

Just got back and freakin' LOVED it!!! This one delivered everything a fan of the original series could possibly want and then some. I was kinda disappointed that they put that cheesy ass Jazz in it, but his dialogue was only something like two lines so it wasn't that much of a bother. The "comic relief" scene in the backyard went on for a bit too long as well, but the movie is geared towards younger people so it was to be expected. Other than that, it absolutely kicked ass! Can't wait to own this one!!!
BTW, I'm not sure if the same trailers are shown nationwide, but the very last trailer shown before Transformers started was something about a guy having a farewell party thrown for him because he was getting ready to leave for Japan or something. Anyhow, the trailer was from the point of view of a hand held camcorder and some kind of explosion goes off in the middle of the city and pieces of shrapnel from it started flying everywhere and destroying buildings. Then everyone ran outside and started pointing saying, "It's coming this way!", which is when you can hear some type of Godzilla type roar just before the head from the statue of liberty lands in the middle of the street. My wife and I are racking our brains trying to figure out what that teaser was but neither of us remember it showing a title or website. Anyone know anything about it?

My wife has been making fun of me for the last year because I've been so excited about this movie, especially when Clerks 2 made fun of it. But, after seeing it with me on July 4th, she changed her tune drastically and is now going around telling everyone at her work how awesome it was and that they've all got to see it immediately! A real good thing was that the trailer looked so mediocre and didn't reveal every great action shot, something that spoiled DH4 for me, the fact I knew already how each set piece would end as it was shown in the trailer. And the designs, I've grown to actually prefer most of them. Although I'm not too keen on Optimus's mouth. Role on Transformers 2 I want some Sound/Shock wave action.

Well, when Transformers originally came out, I was no longer interested in toys unless they were of the flesh and blood female kind. :) So basically I had very little prior knowlege of the characters.
That said I feckin' loved this movie. There was a little too much war room/military crap for me but the killer cgi transformations more than made up for it. Plenty of laughs, lots of action, a good story and a kick ass 2008 Camaro.
Damn, I wish that car would pick me!

Yeah. Guess they're wanting to cash in before the hype dies down. Oh well...Can't blame them for that!!

I really enjoyed this flick despite a few gripes here and there (the scene where the autobots were hiding from Sams parents was just stupid). It could so easily have been a total disaster but I was very happy with the finished product. I was going on about it so much my girlfriend bought me an Optimus Prime Mr potatoe head for my birthday :)

Here's some good Soundwave action to tide you over

I'm with you on that. That whole scene was just stupid and went on for entirely too long. Guess they had to put something in for the little kiddies, though.

The inevitable sequel, (sort of)...
Paramount Sets Transformers 2 Release Date
Source: Box Office Mojo September 24, 2007
Despite a recent comment from Transformers director Michael Bay that the studio hasn't been going full speed ahead on a sequel because of the possible strike next year, Paramount Pictures has now set a June 29, 2009 release date for Transformers 2. It is unclear who all will return for the sequel, as far as crew and cast members. Hopefully we'll know more soon.
The only other movie currently scheduled for the July 4th weekend in 2009 is Fox's Ice Age III.

This should come as no surprise to any of us since the movie was so successful, but Chevy just unveiled the Camaro Bumblebee at the Detroit Auto Show for 2008...
