Don't you hate it when you looking over a zombie movie list to see if there is something on it you haven't seen, only to come across an entry like Pet Semetary!? Don't get me wrong, I like Pet Semetary, but when you say "zombie movie", I'm sure you're not thinking of Pet Semetary. What we need is a system, you know like animals. That way when you see a movie on a list you've never heard of, you still know what you're dealing with. Let's say zombie flicks are the reptiles of the movie kingdom. Well there is more than one type of reptile right? This is my proposed class system, and please, feel free to add any ideas for improvements.
Class A
Zombies are the main antagonist, are featured throughout the film as the only non-human threat and the plot revovles entirely around their existence.They also eat people.
(Romero's films, Fulci's Zombie, Hell of the Living Dead, Buriel Ground)
Class B
Zombies are in it, they appaer from time to time as a threat, but are not pivotal to the plot. Sometimes they eat people, sometimes not. (Fulci's The Beyond and City of the Dead, Revenge of the Dead, Zombie Holocaust, Cemetary Man)
Class C
Dead people come back to life in it, but aren't really ZOMBIES by horror geek definition
(Pet Semetary 1 and 2, One Dark Night, Frankenstein)
It's a start! So a revised list using this system would look something like this;
Land of the Dead (class a)
Severed (class a)
Versus (class b)
The Ring (class c)
Dawn of the Dead 04 (class a)
Now, if we can just get everyone whose ever made a zombie novie list to revise it, we'll be all set!
