FINALLY!!! FX started showing previews for season 5 and it premieres in January!!!!!!! Usually they start previewing this show 3 months before it happens. I CAN'T FREAKIN' WAIT!!!! I started watching this show from episode 1 and have not ever missed one, nor will I ever miss one! Vic Mackey is the f-in' MAN! The wife is getting me the season 4 box set for Christmas so that, according to her, my life will be complete. Everytime I get a new box set, I watch the whole season that same day. I can't work, eat or sleep until I've watched all of it. Season 1 is still by far the best, but last season was a helluvalot better than season 3. Anyone else excited about season 5?

Never seen an episode of it. Although I should watch it just to see The Commish go all loose cannon cop who doesn't play by the rules.

Slumlord, definitely start with season 1. The Shield and The Wire were my favorite cop shows in the last few years.
I missed the last 4-5 episodes of season 4, but just haven't been in a hurry to watch them. Mackey going from bad to good to bad to good just wore me out a little with this last season.

Yeah, season 1 is positively a must if you're just starting out with this show. Don't try to just jump in on the new season since this show alot of times relies on things that happened in one of the other seasons for a storyline. I thought the way Mackey jumped back and forth last season was pretty cool. It showed that he isn't bulletproof and that he can be duped just as easily as the next guy. I wish he would just kick Shane's ass though!

Just finished watching the season premiere!! It's pretty obvious that Forest Whitaker is gonna have to have his ass kicked by Vic. Taking Lem into custody and interogating him? Pretty freakin' ballsy! This is gonna be a great season!!!

Last Tuesday's episode was pretty good. Lem finally found out that Terry was murdered by Vic way back in season one. Now we gotta wonder if Lem is gonna cooperate with internal affairs and give up Vic. Having to choose between his friends and his badge. That's a tough one!!

New episode tonight at 10!! Vic and Forest Whitaker finally meet!! Hope the strike team can get some real dirt on this guy. Alot of people at work are saying they think this is The Shield's final season, but I don't think FX would dump their biggest cash cow so soon. If Michael Chiklis leaves then the show won't be s**t, and won't even last another season, but I really don't see that happening.

Just saw a new advertisement for this season. It showed Forest Whitaker sitting at a table by himself and then suddenly jumping up in a rage and throwing the table across the room. That should mean that he isn't gonna get what he wants, which is great news! Am I the only one watching this show?

Even though I'm evidently talking to myself, ( ), last nights episode was excellent! The strike team is kinda having to fly the straight and narrow with Lem being wired and all, but they know who Forest Whitaker is now and Vic knows he's been talking to his wife. Kinda seemed like Shane's wife was fishing for info, though!! She was a big problem in season 3, so I still don't trust her!
jackskellington
02-05-2006, 08:58 AM
Last week Vic finally figured out that Forest Whitaker was getting his info from Vic's new CI and when Vic found her in a safe house, he confronted her. Then Forest Whitaker came in and he and Vic almost had a face off! Vic also got Lem in the car, while he was wearing his wire, and pulled up in front of Acevada's office and said, "I'll be right back, Acevada's been giving me some information." That was brilliant!! Using Whitaker's own wire to turn him and Acevada against one another!! Awesome!!!! Can't wait 'til Tuesday!!

Last night, Vic, Shane and Ronnie completely shattered IAD's rep by setting up a controlled buy from a Russian mobster where Vic had to shoot someone. IAD's team came charging in at that point and it ended up being a set up by Vic to get the "bigger fish" in the Russian mob. The guy Vic shot was another cop undercover and the gun had blanks in it! Awesome!! Forest Whitaker literally freaked out in a fit of rage in the end when he was alone! He also had the strike team's clubhouse bugged, which they ended up using against him. OH! And just as Vic was walking out of the warehouse after the bad bust, he grabbed Acevada's arm and said, "Evening Counselor." That reinforced Forest Whitaker's belief that Acevada is aiding the strike team. You know...There are alot of shows out there that claim about mid season, "THIS is the episode you must not miss!" But with The Shield, EVERY episode is a must see! I swear, everytime I think it's gonna slow down and let me take a break, it goes right back to breakneck speed! BTW, we should just rename this thread, "Jackskellington Talking To Himself! " Mods?

I loved this episode. It's probably the best show on TV. I loved the misdirection but it was a little obvious that was going to happen.
I wonder how this season is going to play out.

I don't know, but I was glad to find out that Claudette doesn't have cancer. I really thought that's why she was taking those pills and distancing herself from Dutch and that the producers had decided to kill her off at the end of the season. Who do you think is the father of Denny's baby? Thinking it's Vic is just way too easy. Pretty sure Lem is gonna be arrested at the beginning of next week's episode since Forest Whitaker was made to look like a chump, but that's okay 'cause the strike team will bail him out. Just glad to see that SOMEONE else is watching this show!

I'm pretty sure Vic is the kid's father. He and Danny hooked up last season. Odds are Dutch and Hanlon are going to get it on -- something's going on there. I think Lem is going down hard and I think the team will let him take the fall because they don't want to go down. With Dutch and Claudette, I knew it wasn't anything serious. You lose her, you lose your show.
The Shield is a great, great show.

Yeah, we did get to see Vic and Danny getting it on at that stakeout last season, but they had been doing that since season 1. As for Dutch and Hanlon, I'm jealous as Hell!! She's HOT! I still don't think there's any way that Vic will let Lem go down. Shane definitely would, but Vic won't. Losing Claudette would be bad, but I really don't see the show losing any steam or any fans if she leaves. There really seems to be two shows going on...One is Vic and the strike team, while the other show is Dutch and Claudette's investigations. They could probably do a spin off of those two, but it probably wouldn't last very long. I think the writers had her get this flare up of lupus so that they could put some distance between her and Dutch and put the show back on the path of the strike team, 'cause really that's what this show is all about.
I watched it last week at in out-laws for the first time in quite a while and thoroughly enjoyed it. We got Direct TV yesterday so i will be following more regularly now:)

So I just watched the last episode. It's okay. I'm not liking where this while IAD thing is going. Kavanaugh is a d ick and he is pursuing a vendetta ignoring that there is actually no evidence for the crime he is investigating.
So I am getting angry at the TV just hoping that Vic pops him in the jaw just for kicks and lo and behold I see the preview for next weeks episode.
I can't wait. It's looking like Kavanaugh is gonna get his! He deserves it.
Spike TV is now running the series from the pilot. I missed a couple eps here and there so it's going to be good to catch up.

Absolutely horrifying season ending last night. I was pretty much in tears by the end, both from sadness and anger. Sometimes I forget this is just a TV show! I even had a hard time sleeping last night. I want Shane DEAD! Can this show possibly get ANY better? I don't think so. The writers are gonna have a hard time topping this season. Oh well, guess we'll find out in another 8 or 9 months!!

Come on now ZK, nobody here said that Lem died. Also, if you're purchasing all the seasons, they usually run $50 each at all the chain stores, but if you go to cdnow.com or amazon, you can usually get 2 seasons for about $70 which is a really good deal.

Well, for those of us who were ticked off at the final episode this past season, it looks like things are coming to an end. I had a feeling that with Shane killing Lem and also the fact that Vic is being forced into early retirement, that they were bringing the show to an end. 2 more seasons is all we have left. I'm pretty upset about it, but at least this way the show stays intense and never slows down like most other cop dramas. Also, this way we may get a movie a few years down the road, depending on how the final season ends.
FX has ordered a final seventh season of Shawn Ryan's acclaimed cop drama The Shield, which will keep it on the air through 2008. FX has greenlit a final batch of 13 episodes, which will premiere in early 2008.
The sixth season, currently in production, will air early next year. FX ordered the sixth season -- then billing it as a set of bonus episodes -- last fall.
Creator-executive producer Ryan will continue to serve as day-to-day showrunner on The Shield. He'll also continue to run his drama The Unit, which comes back this fall on CBS. Final season of "Shield" will go into production some time next year.
Star Michael Chiklis and the rest of the cast are onboard for the remainder of the show. Season five regular Forest Whitaker will be back for a limited number of episodes in the upcoming sixth season.
As to the possibility for seasons beyond the seventh: "I know what the arc is of the final season, almost through the last episode, and this is definitely the end of it," FX president-general manager John Landgraf said.

Well, it looks as if FX has decided to push The Shield to March to make room for Courteney Cox's new show 'Dirt'. I haven't confirmed that from anywhere yet, but all I've been seeing advertised is that Dirt show. The Shield is FX's first big hit cash cow, so I'm sure if it was hitting in January they would be advertising it.

Supposedly to distance themselves from LAPD who frowned on being associated with corrupt cops. The badges are supposedly a different style too. I don't have Season 1 handy to look at but I did see a promotional still that had the badges on the left side.
Pushed back for Dirt? Those dirty bastards. They were advertising Dirt 2 months ago, which is way too much time. Should have run that before or after The Shield.

Sad thing is that they were running promos for the new Shield season back during early summer saying that it was coming in January. Hell, they even said that at the end of the final episode last season. It's only 2 more months we gotta wait, but has anyone noticed how long it takes for a new Shield season to start? Seems like there's 2 seasons of Nip Tuck, House and all those other shows before we can even get 1 season of The Shield.

So how about that ending Tuesday night? I knew Forest Whitaker's character was gonna go out but I thought that was kind of a weak ending for him after all the stress he caused last season. Also, why didn't they put him in "the cage" when he was arrested like he did to Lem? I was pissed that they sent him to his own private cell to save him any embarassment. Glad his ass is gone, either way. :drinking:

Great episode last night! So is Shane's conscience gonna leave him alone now that Vic and Ronnie think they dealt with Lem's killer? Personally, I think Dutch is gonna keep sniffing around and find out who really did it. All that aside, they got rid of two major obstacles in two episodes...Cavanaugh and Guardo, so now the main focus for the rest of this season will probably be Vic's forced retirement. From the looks of things, his replacement is gonna start shit with him right off the bat next week. Still don't see how they're gonna make this last two more seasons, but I'm excited as hell about it!!

I would love to see Shane fall to pieces.
It did seem rather weak to get rid of Cavanaugh so abruptly, but not complaining...it was a great character.

Dutch can sniff about all he likes, still would love to see Claudette and Vic sitting at the table...she's pretty scary.

I don't mind him. I think he's a good cop but the fact that he knows that Claudette lied to Vic about the review board possibly delaying his retirement really irritates me. I wish he would tell Vic about it, but then again, he's just trying to look out for his own career and as soon as Vic is gone Claudette is gonna be his main boss. That's the difference between him and Vic, though. Vic would always look out for everyone else on his team and put himself last. Unless you're looking to screw him over, that is!!

But you also have to look at the fact that if someone on the Strike Team does go down, they could easily take Vic with them. Vic isn't totally doing everything out of the good of his own heart.
Also remember Terry. Vic could have shutdown his criminal activity and told Terry that they knew he was spying on them. Everyone would be alive and they could have stayed on as "normal" cops.
I do like it that they've given Ronnie a little more face time this season and Lem last season.

Shane is really the only loose cannon on the strike team right now, aside from Julian, but that's another story. Vic losing it in the hospital 2 weeks ago really showed just how human he is and I think they really needed to do that since the pressure that's built up over the last 5 years is so overwhelming now that it would absolutely crush the average person. Lem was the only one with a conscience and, to be honest, the only one who was any threat to the team once the money train shit went down. Why else would Vic have kept Terry's murder a secret from him for so long unless he just didn't trust him completely? Granted, he was an original member and was in on some really dirty shit, but he only did things for the money and never did it if it involved killing someone. If you think about it, what Shane did to him was no worse than what Vic did to Terry, although it was alot more harsh. Don't get me wrong, I don't condone Shane's actions in ANY way, but before Vic gets all vengeful on him, he needs to take a good hard look in the mirror.

Its very shitty that they "had" to kill Terry but I see why they did. the Strike team gets alot more work done then alot of the cops around becasue they dont do things by the book. If they just went down like req cops looking for answeres they wouldnt get half of them casue they wouldnt have respect and the gangs wouldnt fear them enough to work with them.
As for shane doing in Lem. It was one of those moments where you talking in your mind trying to get the character to stop casue you know the whole story. I just hoped Lem would have let Kavanaugh get blown up, but that wouldn be a total opposite of Lems character.
About ronnie. I love that there actually letting him speak. in the last seasons he maybe had 30 lines. this one hes already out done that. I like him.. I like him better with his beard though.
When Shane goes down I hope its in the line of duty.. to make himself look like a hero and maybe that will spark the city to do a proper burial for Lem as well.

So you want Shane to have some redemption. I can see that happening at the very end, but Shane is totally going to **** things up before that. Shane is going to dig himself so deep in shit that you only see his big pearly teeth and shiny forehead. Now that I've said that I wonder how long Ronnie will survive. I think he'll survive just because it gives Vic a confidant to talk to about past deeds.

ronnie doesnt know about the very major shit though. only him and shane know that. It was kinda shitty how ronnie got burned in like season 2 and he didnt even talk.
I want redemption for shane. Cause he tried to do the right thing, he just has a huge problem with not thinking of the consequences or taking a step back to look at the big picture.

Shane really was only looking out for the rest of the team just the same as Vic was looking out for them when he shot Terry. Lem was always getting ulcers from stress and was always the first to be seen as "the weak link" whenever the team was being investigated so how could Shane NOT worry that he was gonna roll on them? Even though I wanted Shane's head on a plate at the end of last season, I actually feel bad for him now. He had to kill one of his best friends for the team and live with that on his conscience for the rest of his life. Vic killing Terry wasn't anywhere near as stressful for him because Terry was a new guy and a known rat. This season is really coming to a boiling point now!!!!

alright I watched it. wow.. what a tension filled episode. I hoped they would have stretched that confession out a bit more.. it seemed they could have put it one more ep off.. for more of a line just snapping when it happened. but wow.. shane manned up. Vic wanted to pound him so bad it was great.
Do you see the difference between Terry and Lem. I mean I see it.. but still.. they killed a cop. ahh man its just.. I dont know whats going to happen.
on another note. Im really liking Hyatt and I think they need to get julien off of the team.. hes just doesnt fit in.
jackskellington
05-13-2007, 08:00 PM
I like Hyatt as well, but I'm beginning to have my suspicions about him. Did you notice in last week's episode where Dutch, (I think), said something like, "I thought you USED to be federal" and Hyatt said, "Yeah...used to be". It was when he was talking about the intel they got from that undercover federal agent last week who was playing soccer. Anyway, my point is that I'm beginning to suspect that just maybe Hyatt is still a federal officer and has been planted there to further investigate Vic. I'm sure I'm wrong since this show has NEVER gone the route that you think you see coming, but ya' never know! You just can't do all the shit that they have done and not attract attention from the feds.
P.S.-- Hell yeah! Kick Julian off the team! He sucks, (literally!).

You just can't do all the shit that they have done and not attract attention from the feds.

hmm. could be interesting and a nice twist but I dont think thats the case. I just think hes cocky dude being a fed and coming town to take over a middle aged hardcore respected team. but then again.. like you said.. the show doesnt really go the way I think its going to.
lol Julian.. whatever happened to his man candy? and for that matter.. his wife
do you think that rich guy with the political muscle is going to talk to some peeps about keeping vic? Vic still doesnt know that there is no hearing on the matter.. so I dont know who the guy would talk to.
some other thoughts. ronnie should grow back his beard. Tina should get bitch slapped by Danny. Shes dumb and is using her sex wayyy to much.. now making the movies on Hyatt. I would be so happy is dutch and whats his face partner get into a fist fight.. like the old days when he fought vic.

lol Julian.. whatever happened to his man candy? and for that matter.. his wife.
That story just got old and boring I think. Vic used it to his advantage when he needed to but Julian still went to Cavanaugh with the info about Lem stashing the heroin. So ultimately, it's Julians fault that Shane had to kill Lem!

I can't freakin' wait to see how that plays out! This comptroller owes Vic BIG time now and will almost definitely tell him that there is no review board and that Claudette has been lying to him. That's gonna make Vic stop cooperating with Hyatt as well since he never told him the truth on the matter either. I was wondering how in the hell they were gonna make this last a whole nother season since Vic was being forced out so this is more than likely gonna be the way he keeps his badge. Wonder if Assivada, (sp?), and that comptroller are gonna clash on this issue.

I'm actually getting pretty sick of Danny when it comes to this matter. She got what she deserved from that hot ass Tina last week when she was trying to flex her sergeant stripes on her. She definitely needed to be taken down a notch and thats just what Tina did. Does Danny really think Hyatt would take her over Tina? :loon: No freakin' way!!

oh yeah I didnt even think that the tycoon was going to tell vic that nothings happening way of a hearing.
Yeah Danny is getting bland. Her voice and tone kinda get on my nerves. that near cat fight with vics x was great.. "listen bitch"
Tina needs to go. shes playing every guy that she can adn shes just annnoying. you would think dutch would have learned from his previous girl mistakes. remember when they video bugged his car and he was singing that "hungry like the wolf" song... hahahhaha.
I hope that Hyatt comes through for us. Hes a good guy and I hope his ambitions dont get ahead of doing the right thing.. if vic treats him right and still plays it cool when he learns hes getting bent over.. then Hyatt will back him up.

Did anyone catch last night's episode? I must say that Shane is a pretty smart fella when it comes to covering his ass. Writing down every corrupt thing the strike team ever did and letting Vic know that he wrote it out was a brilliant move on his part. Now Vic is alot less likely to screw with him and his psycho wife. The part where Vic let the gang leader use his "throw away" phone I could see coming from a mile away since he had just used the same phone to call the undercover agent a few minutes before that. That was definitely the most rookie move I've ever seen Vic do. Guess he's getting sloppy with everything falling apart around him.

Anyone catch the season finale last night? Very good ending for the next to last season!! I just KNEW that BJ pic of Assaveda was gonna turn up again at one point or another. Howzabout all the dirt on judges, city council members, etc. that Vic got out of that trunk in the end? He's definitely keeping his badge now! I actually felt bad for Shane the last few episodes because he's gotten alot of innocent people in trouble with the Armenians now because he had to go shooting off at the mouth about the money train. If Vic would've just answered his damn phone then Shane wouldn't have had to kidnap his wife and daughter to keep them safe. That Armenian chic certainly did turn from a kitten into a lioness pretty quick!! Shane and Vic actually need each other at this point in order to get rid of her, but I can't figure out why Shane told her in the hospital room that the hit man was coming for her. Why not just let him take care of her at that point? Oh well...Only about 10 more months til the final season!!:x

I've been searching around trying to find anything I can about the final season coming up. Found a bit on info on a site called TV rage. It lists a few supposed episode titles:
1. The Coefficient of Drag
2. Snitch
3. Money Shot
4. Game Face
It also lists the premiere airing sometime in April, but no definite date. Most all the other seasons premiered around March or April so that's probably gonna be pretty accurate. Wouldn't surprise me to see FX wait an extra month or so just to get the tension built up since this is the final season, though. Hopefully we'll be seeing some teaser commercials in the next month. I definitely can't wait for another season but, to be honest, I'm ready for the show to end so that I can stop putting my life on hold every year for two months!

Definitely start from season 1, episode 1. This is a deeply involved "soap opera" that would get extremely confusing if you just started watching it randomly.

sad to see this going off the air but Its had a good run, the first and second season is by far my favorites, hopefuly this show goes out with a bang,
ever since I first saw this show I always thought that when it goes off the air it needs to go out with mackey dying at the end, be interesting to see if they take it that way :scare:

nah no way thats going to happen. maybe with some of the cast.. but not vic or shane.. or even ronnie. (well I hope ronnie has a happy ending, hes never really done anything)
but look at the other characters.. theyve never given any of them anything related to a cop out.
Bows head for Lem.

Amazon is now listing the season 6 box set as available for pre-order!! There's no official release date for it just yet, but it will definitely coincide with the season 7 premiere, so this is really good news!!
Found this pic on ebay as well!! Supposedly the season 6 DVD cover art for a March 23rd UK release date...

SERIES FINALE TONIGHT AT 10!!!!!
For those who haven't been keeping up with The Shield, you have definitely missed out on 7 seasons of the absolute best cop drama ever to air on television! The end will be decided in a 90 minute series finale tonight and with the way things have been going the last 3 weeks, it's all up in that air right now. Anybody's guess is as good as mine as to what Vic Mackey's fate will be, but I hope he gets away with EVERYTHING! One things for sure...It's been one HELL of a ride!!!

And so it ends...
Last nights finale left me hanging a bit, (to be honest), but after thinking over it this morning and for a little while last night, I really think it's the ONLY way they could have possibly ended it. It didn't really give me the satisfaction of "closure" after nearly 7 years, but this show has NEVER done exactly what I expected it to do. Overall I'm satisfied, but I do feel a bit empty now that it's finally over. The reality will probably hit me pretty hard sometime next year when I don't have any decent shows to look forward to. Can't wait for you to get back and see the finale ZK101!! Til then...NO SPOILERS!!

I have watched all seven seasons. I was shocked in episode one when Vic Mackey killed Terry Crowley (SP?). I was like, "WTF? He can't do that. Vic's the main character!" After that I was sucked in all the way. I was also shocked by the ending. Shane and Ronnie. Wow. I did not expect that. And, Vic ending up as he did, LOL. Crime really does NOT pay, LOL. There is still more story that could be told. But, this was a good place to end it as well. I will miss this show. Michael Chiklis is a good actor, IMO.
