Definitely want to check this one out!
There really needs to be a decent zombie film with a WWII background - I loved reading Weird War Tales when I was a kid, and the WWII zombie scene in the Heavy Metal movie was great!

MAKING SCENE 6
http://www.horrorsofwarmovie.com/scene6.php
3 min, 5 meg - Windows Media
This is the first of a series of WEB DOCUMENTARIES on the making of "Horrors of War", a WWII sci fi/horror/action film, co-directed by John Whitney, and produced by Philip R. Garrett and Sean Reid.
SCENE 6 was a something that went from a 1 line description to 2 pages with dialogue, shot during post production and I thought people might dig seeing how this process worked with our visual FX work by Don Drennan.
I hope you like it. The ZOMBIE MAKE UP FX doc will kick ass when I get it online...

Ah, zombies & werewolves, all it needs now is Paul Naschy and I'd be in horror heaven...
Watched the trailer and thought the film looks really good; someone needs to pick up the game rights; Band of Brothers meets Return to Castle Wolfenstein - I can see it now.
Keep us posted; though I suppose we'll be waiting a while for a release here in the UK...

That's true, my Granddad was one - he was awarded the Golden Snausage and a Purple Flea.
:)
That aside - I'd be interested in the movie, but being here in the U.K. will it ever reach?
We miss out on some really cool movies over here - maybe I'll have to move to the U.S.

Web Documentary - "John's First Day"

John Whitney tells the story on what his first day directing on Horrors of War was like. Managing a tank, a jeep, extras, costumed actors and two pages of dialogue in a single shot.
This is a series of WEB DOCS on the making of Horrors of War, a WWII action-horror-sci fi story coming soon. These documentaries are DVD-style tidbits showing the behind the scenes workings of a low budget indie film.

"Think SAVING PRIVATE RYAN meets RE-ANIMATOR meets DOG SOLDIERS, i.e.- a buttload of fun and good times! How cool is that? And after checking out the trailer, I'm sold- this one is gonna blow the other DVD completely away!
Not only that, but zombies & werewolfs & Nazis all wrapped up into one movie? Almost as cool as THIS on screen collaboration!"

Now THAT kicks ass. I can't wait to get this movie out there to be seen...

i'll definately buy this one, 2 of my most favoritest monsters united! werewolves (my first true luv) and zombies!!
although i do have to agree with an earlier post, some of shots look abit generic and some of the acting seems abit off, but overall i think this movie will be enjoyable never the less.
is it coming out on DVD or is it going to try to make its way into theaters?

You could really open up a nice new layer of metaphor with zombies in a war setting. I've thought MANY times before how it just seems like a logical jump in zombie fiction to have them used as bio-weapons.

This looks really promising. I like the idea of zombies in the midst of WWII.
Watching the trailer (http://www.ifilm.com/ifilmdetail/2354099?htv=12) I was reminded, not in a completely negative way, of some of the old Full Moon films: interesting premise, but with questionable execution. The rather slack pacing of the trailer was also reminiscent of those Full Moon Pictures efforts.
However the film turns out in terms of quality, it at least has the benefit of trying, which is something not a lot of exploitation features do.

Here's a review one of the reviewers at Joe Horror did of Horrors of War...
Oh man when I heard about this movie I knew that I had to see it. It is one of those rare occasions that no matter how bad the film is you know that it are going to be the coolest shit you have ever seen just because. I wasnt expecting Dog Solders, but I still knew this was going to be cool. For once I wasnt wrong, thank God.
Schmidt has a problem, it seems like he cant keep his men alive. As he storms the beaches of Normandy at the height of World War II, he looses a grip of his men. As the remainder of his squad makes its way to base they run into one freaky looking Nazi...[READ MORE HERE] (http://www.joehorror.com/0000180.html)

shockwaves was actually really cool...def the best nazi zombie movie i've seen so far. awesome soundtrack...creepy direction, cool looking zombies.
zombie lake on the other hand...ugh...i won't even bother.
from the trailer it looks like they really tried with horrors of war, but i can already tell the kind of quality this movie is going to be. i'll give them an A in effort so far. hopefully i'll be pleasantly surprised when i watch it.
i still think shockwaves will reign as the best nazi/war/zombie movie...until worse case scenario comes out!

zom·bie also zom·bi ( P ) Pronunciation Key (zmb)
n. pl. zom·bies, also zom·bis
A snake god of voodoo cults in West Africa, Haiti, and the southern United States.
A supernatural power or spell that according to voodoo belief can enter into and reanimate a corpse.
A corpse revived in this way.
One who looks or behaves like an automaton.
A tall mixed drink made of various rums, liqueur, and fruit juice.
(I've got the name 'Captain Dictionary' on another forum)
They way I see it, if someone has not died, they can not be a zombie. Yes, the idea of a bunch of shredded soldiers walking around doped up is appealing, but should not be labeled as a zombie flick.

Ok then by definition those living dead flesh eaters we've all been enjoying for decades are really ghouls and even then only partially. Ghouls are the living dead that feed on corpses. Can you imagine how long it would take if all the books and movies and websites would need to change every mention of "zombie" to "ghoul"? The fact is they should be called Rombies because GAR was the first to evolve the zombies and ghouls to eating the flesh of the living.

OK.. OK... OK.
In the past we've had several threads debating the word "Zombie" concerning its meaning, and origins. (I know because I was heavily involved in those debates.)
This is the only thread I could find so far.

You're free to start a new thread on the subject in the Zombie Talk (http://www.allthingszombie.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=15) forum.
