BRUCE CAMPBELLS ZOMBIE FLICK (http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/index.php?Show=4470&Template=newsfull)
I can't believe this movie is really happening- it is seriously #1 on my list of horror movies I want to see made and from the sound of it Dark Horse will be shooting the still untitled Bruce Campbell zombie flick soon. Inside you'll find a little more details on the film in which Bruce plays himself and during a zombie attack the people of a town think he really is Ash (brilliant) and expect him to save the day...
"He said the movie should be shooting sometime fairly soon this year by Dark Horse Comics. It is a small town in Oregon that gets overrun by zombies and some dumb **** recognizes Bruce Campbell from the Evil Dead series and has the "great" idea to give him a double barrelled shotgun and a chainsaw. In short, he said, "the whole town mistakes me as Ash, and I've never shot a gun, nor used a chainsaw." Bruce commented on this saying something like, "and I don't know **** on how to use either one, so I actually cause more deaths than the zombies." I mostly asked this to get a title out of him 'cause this would be bigger news, but for now it is "Bruce Campbell Untitled" I think, or something close to that. Either way, it's untitled as of yet."

I respect Bruce and his contribution to the horror genre but never got the whole 'Haha wink wink" approach to horror. I remember dragging my 'then girlfriend' to Evil Dead III (Army of Darkness) and being embarrassed at the stchick humor...
My point is that I hope it is somewhat respectful and not a big ****ing joke.
That being said? Bring it. :drinking:

Their should be some humor in the movie but not enought to take up three fourths of the movie like in ED III. His idea sounds good to men and I bet it'll be a huge success.

BC is all about camp in horror movies, and sometimes it's taken to the extreme... If you don't like tongue in cheek horror, then you won't like BC. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y152/bzn123/Smileys/Characters/1bnz_smiley.gif

I really like the storyline, seems a bit comical but I feel every horror needs some comedy that way it won't make the movie entirely serious and emotionless mainly...

sounded interesting until the whole, "they think he really is Ash" part. I'll rent it, but not expecting much.
The Evil Dead is my favorite movie of all time and I was also embarrassed leaving the theater after Army of Darkness with the friend I dragged to go see it.

I know what you mean about the too much humor thing. I was playing the evil dead regeneration demo that I was really excited about because I thought that they would make this game so much better than fistful of boomstick but i was wrong. The stupid midget sidekick guy really pisses me off. It's the same problem. They were trying to make the game too funny instead of concentrating on making it a game of the horror genre. I was gonna buy the game originally because I love evil dead and bruce campbell but after playing the demo I can't.... it would just be too embaressing to play

Bruce Campbell not knowing how to kick zombie ass? Fumbling with weapons and being a clutz, killing more people than zombies (from what I've read on aintitcool.com)?
It sounds comical, and with Campbell in it, there's plenty to hope for. It'll be the next best thing to Evil Dead 4. Looking forward to what Dark Horse comes up with.

Yeah, I can see that... Maybe he learns the ropes, and becomes like the character Ash, or pretty close to it. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y152/bzn123/Smileys/Characters/Evil_Dead_Ash_Animation_6.gif http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y152/bzn123/Smileys/Characters/1bnz_smiley.gif

It sounds like this film will have a lot of merit to it. This kind of sounds like a mixture of Evil Dead and Shaun of the Dead. Let's just hope that they (The Producers) aren't just trying to cash in on the Zombie Renaissance and decide to pull the plug due to Land's dismal figures.

This is exactly what I'm talking about. What moron thought of this idea?
"Hey Bruce. We should do a film where Zombies attack a small-town and people think you are Ash from Evil Dead."
(sound of producers laughing heh heh heh)
Straight to DVD. :x

Exactly. I know that BC is the "King of B- Movies" but he shouldn't be the king of direct-to-DVD. That's what Van Damme and Seagal are for.

This sorta reminds me of Wes Craven's New Nightmare. How they refrence their real world selfs and the movies however bringing it into the real world in a way.

I don't know how I missed this thread.
I think the concept behind this idea is pretty awesome. I don't think any producers would be stupid enough to keep this out of the theatre, they know the power of his cult-movie presence. That's why he made a cameo in Spiderman, both of them, and is the narrator for the game. Part of Bubba-HoTep's magic was because of the awe that Bruce holds with his followers. Hollywood knows exactly who Bruce Campbell is, and I guarantee he'll be kicking ass in theatres near you.

Yeah, but Titanic sucked so bad it wouldn't have made the movie cooler, it just would have made Bruce Campbell a stinky sellout.

Bit hard to check up on a film with no title. There's nothing definite about this film so I don't think fans have warmed to it yet. I think with a bit more updates on this as well as any available stills this should gain some heat.

Bruce Campbell was on the late late show with that guy with the british accent (September 13th, 2005 or so, I forget CBS?), talking about horror movies. BC said zombies were too slow as horror villians, and the only way they can get you is if a ton of them surround you. He also said B movies are the last place for great original horror, and that most of the horror in theaters these days suck, and are trying to imitate B movies, or something like that. He didn't say much about any new projects he was working on from what I saw. It was a very good interview.
He said B movies try harder than A movies. He also said people like scary movies cause people want to think like they're gonna die "Death is the ultimate thing that you're gonna get, and horror films deal with death all the time... You can cheat death."
"Zombies suck as bad guys... You can't communicate with them. It shouldn't have to take a hundred zombies to kill one person... They move too slow."
"The Tenant... is the scariest movie I've ever seen." (Roman Polanski's The Tenant).
"There's no such thing as a PG-13 horror film... In a horror film, bad things have to happen, a lot of the time."
So my point is, even though Bruce says zombies don't make very good horror villains, he sure likes kicking their asses in movies and video games, like this new one he's planning to star in, and ED4.
EDIT: BC did mention Bubba Ho-Tep.
