One thing you could change in dotd

if you could change one thing in dotd 04 what would it be and you could make a new story line if you wanted. I would make it so Andy would have piled his truck full of guns and ammo and drove across the street to the mall. And then KEnneth and him could contest on who is a better shot. Think about if thats how it happened and i were andy i would have atleast 3 rifles with scopes, that machine gun (in andy's lost video were he says the copper coated candies thing) at least 10 handguns/ revolvers. and 5 shotguns. There you have it.

I'd change a few things, but since it's only one..

Make the zombies slower. Not shambling, but not sprinters either, a midpoint would've been nice.

i dunno if i'd change the fast zombies - they make this movie unique and add to the tense atmosphere. you can run around shambers, but if you get caught in a pack of these zombies, you're dead for sure!

i would probably change the ending by leaving out the whole credit sequence. for one thing, i hate disturbed! also, i like the ending when all you heard was the gunshot. i had the same feel as the ending of the original dawn. i'd like an ending more open to interpretation.

besides that, dawn of the dead 04 is goddamn incredible. as well as night of the living dead 1990. they sure got these remakes right! :drinking:

At first I didn't like the zombies running because it was a rip-off of 28 day later, which was the most believable zombie film IMO.

But when you think about it, running zombies make them more terrifying in the sense that they can chase you forever and never get tired whereas slow, lumbering creatures seen in other zombie films stand no chance of killing you unless your cornered or can't run or walk really fast.

If I could change one thing it would be the zombie baby scene. I felt so sorry for Andre but that sadness soon turned into joy as I burst out laughing at the cheesey-looking zombie baby :cry: :lol:

Don't get me wrong, the orginal dawn of the dead is a total classic as well but i don't see the new dawn as a remake of the old one but a separate movie sharing the same concept. A lot of people have said that dawn '04 was just using the romero name to get money and that remakes are horrible, but those people are just ignorant. This movie is awesome and I hope to see a lot more stuff in the future from the director, Zack Snyder.

I wouldn't mind seeing more of the nieghborhood intro reawakening, plus more car crashes...A little more on the spot trying to survive and looting before hitting the mall.
That and maybe a 2 seater Robinson A22 traffic helicopter with engine problems landing on the mall roof.

I believe the failure of Land has now proven beyond the shadow of a doubt that attaching the Romero name to something does not guarantee that it will make money which proves that Dawn 04 was a good movie that stands on it's own and would have been just as successful without the Romero name. As for what I would change...Probably would've put more of Ana trying to get out of her neighborhood. Maybe her car would've already been stolen or something and she would have to search the neighborhood for alternate transportation because, let's face it, the first 10 minutes are the most exciting of the movie.

Great point ZK. I guess it also shows that GAR's fanbase isn't what it used to be, or maybe it never was that big to begin with. Either way, Dawn 04 beats the hell out of Land any day of the week. If there's gonna be a sequel to just one of them, then I'd put my faith in Dawn 04.

yeah your right, the fan base is probably smaller now. All his old fans most likely have kids now, and more than likely wouldnt take them to see a zombie movie, thus herbie making the big bucks over Land.

Dawn 04's sequeal would blow anything out of the water, and thats coming from a fan that loved Land.:loon:

I like the running zombies from DOTD 04 and 28 days later (don't discuss whether they are zombies or not please) because it is a nice break from the slow and pathetic zombies we're used to. If you watch the DOTD 04 DVD extra about the news channel it show that virtually the whole of Wincosin (whatever) is swarmed by zombies in a matter of hours. If the zombies were slow and lumbering then it would probably take more than twice that amount of time.

Don't get me wrong, I like the classic zombies but I like a bit more realism every now and then.

The speed of the zombies will dictate what strategy you will have to take to keep alive. In NOTLD 90 Barbara was able to walk passed the ghouls to find help. If they were Turbo Zombies, that strategy would have failed. In DOTD 04 they could have escaped much easier...I lost where I'm going with this, but you get my point. :loon:

We debated about that when the movie first came out, and it was little hard for many to believe, that society could be overran so quickly... It was said that 28 Days Later made more sense, because the story got a 4 week head start, to allow for human population to be taken over.

I don't prefer the slow zombies from the faster zombies, I just see them as different categories of zombies but both are great. I think that the slow ones are decaying bodies of what they used to be while the faster ones (although decaying also) have also mutatations in their blood to make them fast, strong, and crazy as hell. But because the mutated ones are faster and stronger does not make them cooler, but different. But I think that people should stop arguing about which is better and accept all zombies because they are all beautiful. :)

1. What if Ana was killed by the girl, and Luis escaped?
2. It would be cool to see the background stories to Ken and the others (especially the ones in St. Berbina)
3. What if they made those buses because the glass entrances were cracking.........

i would have had less survivors, i think they had way too many. 5 is enough but when the truck load of others came it just left less room for character development. and idk why everyone says its a remakes because its not.
its a based on, if you paid attention in the opening credits it says BASED on a screenplay by GAR. based on does not mean remake besides for it to be a remake it would have had the same characters and the same exact story, just diff actors and locaitons similar to that of the original.

I think they needed to show more scenes in Ana's neighborhood like Jackskelliton suggested. Have like kids eating parents, cars wreck into houses or lose control, and have 5 or 6 of them run to Ana's car! That would be sweet! That, or see what it would be like if Ana was killed and Luis escaped! Huh?
