View Full Version : Hide and Creep
The Blind Dead

If any of you out there are looking for a new zombie flick and you're looking for something fun and funny, check out The Asylums July release of Hide and Creep. I recently received the screener for this and I was pretty hesitant. When the blurbs on the box say things like "Absolutely not to be missed! - Aint It Cool News" and "Even Better Then Shaun of the Dead - Kevin Smith's MoviePoopShoot.com" you just KNOW your expectations are going to get the 15 inch shaft. I was wrong, it was lighthearted and had some seriously funny parts in this film. Was it better than Shaun? I didn't think so but it was pretty damn good. The zombies are super NOTLD looking, there wasn't a ton of zombie makeup at all but this movie was packed with great dialogue.
Check it out! Most might not like the Asylum but they're making some fun b-movies that are definitely worth checking out. If you get a chance check out their info on Frankenstein and the Beast of Bray Road. They look sweet.
BTW, my bad. Movie doesn't come out till July 19th. Keep up with Asylum info at: www.theasylum.cc

Is this the one where it starts off with a zombie in a video store? If so I thought the movie was STUPID! Especially the redneck who gets bitten. He just made me want to beat his ass. The zombie lesbian scene was the best part and even that wasn't all that great IMO.http://www.allthingszombie.com/images/jvsmily.gif

That would be the one. The video store guy was a classic cinema geek. Some horror fans will totally get a kick outta him.

I think you'll enjoy it. I was totally enjoying myself watching this. The Asylum sent me a box full of goodies and I was just in heaven. This film won't be for everybody but some will love it. I laughed through most of it because it was genuinely funny. The dialogue was fantastic.

Semi-nude, covered in blood zombie lesbians. I laughed my ass of during this scene.
*SPOILER**SPOILER**SPOILER**SPOILER**SPOILER*
A guy with a rifle is preparing to shoot them until he gets a closer look at what they're doing. He pauses...I laughed my ass off! This guy stops to watch the zombie lovemaking instead of wasting the flesheaters!!! Now that's what I call a blue collar zombie hunter being honest with himself!

Well I just got hide and creep in the mail today and watched it..... And I really wanted to like this movie, I tried really hard to like it, but sadly I found it quite boring. I kind of liked the beginning when he was making references to the zombie flics and it was a little funny when the first zombie attacked, but then the movie turned into a bunch of guys running around trying to survive zombies when really I didn't care if they lived or died. I understand that they were trying to be funny with having zombies walking around not really being a "big deal" but with the lack of story and characterization, the whole idea of the movie just got really lame. Oh well, if the movie made you laugh then good for you, watch it again and again. But I do not see myself watching it again...at least for a while because I just can't think of any scenes that I would want to watch over.

I liked this movie. Maybe it was because i watched it after Dead Life :puke:
but i don't think so. It illustrates that you can make a funny zombie movie on a microbudget. Sure it has flaws, but i didn't fast forward once and i even laughed a few times. This reminded me of some of the weird early eighties horror spoofs. Good stuff. I'd recommend it to zombie movie lovers.

This movie is friggin' hilarious. There were so many subtle little in-jokes, that I had to pay close attention not to miss anything. I was glad to see that the rednecks were like real people and not just stereotypes, it made the things they do much funnier.
Quote: Ted right after Ned dies:
"People used to say, Hey look here comes Ned and Ted. Now what are they gonna say? Look, here comes Ted. That's just stupid!"
Funny, funny stuff.

I saw this on the sci-fi channel a couple days ago. I thought it was pretty good, but needed major improvements. The ending really killed it for me.
Though, the whole idea of "Rednecks Take on Zombies" has been done before, I thought Hide and Creep pulled it off well. The in-jokes to Romero's movies were well done and the humorous, but still creepy feeling held up.
Besides the ending, the nudity really bugged me. Another problem was that the movie always seemed to be going somewhere, then suddenly veered off course. The film did feature some meorable moments like when: They meet the Gov. Agent in the cemetary, The rednecks talking to the agent on the phone, the scene where Chris talked to the reporter on television, and the entire scene from when Barabra and Chuck walk into Keith's house until the part where they leave.
All in all, it was a good zombie flick, but it had too many flaws to recive more than a 2/5.

It wasn't a horrible little film. It had some genuinely fun scenes.

Yeah it is. Obviously, it's low budget but when I originally received it from The Asylum I figured I was in for a serious junk fest. Instead, I was surprised by some seriously funny stuff. It wasn't absolute hilarity but it still served up quite a few chuckles. Plus, the police station secretary had an amazing rack.

Yeah I can't really recommend this one. I didn't hate it, and it was short so that helps navigate the crappiness.
Some parts are dumb funny other parts that try to be "in" fall very short. The clever stuff just smells bad.
The naked kissing zombies girls were only semi redeeming. My girlfriend was like..ok so this is good..but the rest is junk.

I really liked this flick...
Horrible zombie make-up. Black around the eyes...blah...
But pretty funny...
Too bad the ending was right out of Argento's Demons...
I saw the daughter biting scene coming a mile away.
But still.
Nice movie.

My favorite pop-culture part was when the restaurant tries to offer the video store clerk Pepsi when he asks for a Coke.
His rant is classic...and so f*ckin true!

"I caught this movie late one night, when I was falling asleep. I didn't get to see the last half the first time around. But the other night it came on again, and I got to watch it. I love it! It reminds me of 'The Lost Skeleton Of Cadaver'. Dark Comic and I laughed all the way through it."

I caught the movie on Sci fi too, but was too tired to stay up for all of it. I saw the first hour though and it's pretty funny. I'll have to try to see all of it some other time or tty picking up the DVD
The more stuff I see from asylum the more I like. If you don't expect too much from it.

For the most part, I agree with you guys. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y152/bzn123/Smileys/Characters/1bnz_smiley_2thumbup.gif
It wasn't all bad... I had a few laughs, but I guess I was somewhat disappointed... Unlike DR, I didn't care for the relentless barrage of homages bestowed upon GAR, and the genre in general... It's like watching a kiss ass fest, and I've never been impressed by it... I like a well placed homage or two toward the end of the film, but I don't like seeing them from the beginning right up to the end.
As for the rest of the film, I felt the comedy was somewhat predictable, and not very clever... I don't mind watching high camp Zombie flicks... Some of my favorites include Dead Alive, Premutos: Lord of the Living Dead and Return of the Living Dead... I just thought this story lacked imagination, and to quote what DR said about the characters, "I didn't care if they lived or died."
Let me ask the question: Was there one character in the film that you really gave a rat's ass about?

I finally saw this through Netflix. It wasn't as bad as the other zombie movies I rented so far but it did have it's bad moments: the zombie make up was really bad like they didn't even try & the Government Agent looked more like a 70's porn actor. It did have a lot of good lines and smart ass remarks, like when the one girl was explaining how she got anal probed by aliens and when she said it felt really good the one guy turned to his girlfriend and says "see I told you so."
No one else mentioned it here yet but on the dvd there was a 3 min short zombie movie called "Birthday Call" that was really good. :)

Man, I love this movie. Perfect mix of gore and comedy. I love the stupidity of the characters and the dialog. Definitely one of the better zombie comedies on the market today.
