It's official. Unearthed Films has asked me to make a sequel to Bone Sickness. The movie will take place right from the end of the original and follow the story of a survivor trying to make it back to his pregnant wife, as they were seperated by multiple states at the time the living dead attacked.
I have a good portion of the story written and Stephen Biro will be writing the screenplay.
Unearthed Films will be producing Bone Sickness 2 and they want a movie with the feel of the final chaos scene of the original. The pre-credit sequence is already written and I think it will be obvious that this movie will be more extreme than the 1st. As well as being gorier!
And with the exsisting story line I can make this more of a creature movie. There will be new "things" and offspring to shred apart the human race. And gore wise...we are shooting for BrainDead status. (not trying to beat it. That would be very tough)
If anyone has any thoughts about this project, I'd like to hear your comments.

Thanks guys! I'm really looking forward to shooting this. There are some really over the top sequences I can't wait to do. And I'm going to try my best to deliver some horrifying rotted zombies. Again, all full head appliances! I like the skeletal ones. :)

Sounds great! If you don't mind me asking, what will this be shot on? I'm also wondering if the zombies will look as good as they did in the first?

Great news! I thought the first one was very entertaining! Will there be a bigger budget one this one? Will you have better cameras?

The sequel is still going to be shot on DV. I was hoping for the chance to shot on film, but we discussed how the dvd market is so flooded now and how bigger titles are even just breaking even after production costs ect... Then getting pulled from shelves early to make room for the next wave of titles.
So I am still using my equipment and I'm not sure what the budget is going to be yet.
I will promise that the zombies will look scarier than the originals and will have a couple of different looks. I am also planning rotted body suits for a couple full nude zombies. I think the scene will look pretty creepy.

I’m sure its going to turn out great Morbid ! Im glad your sticking to the skeletal type of zombies, just like the ones in Zombi and Burial Ground.

Hell yeah. Gotta love those rotted dusty Italian zombies. Love the Reaper in your avatar also. It was my favorite part of the film.

I hope you do a good job on the zombies in the next film. I loved them in the first one. All buried and decomposed, just how I like my zombies.

Haha! Great!

Do you by any chance have any links or information on the make-up process of the zombies in Bone Sickness?

Thanks.

I promise the zombies are going to be even more rotted and skeletal in the sequel. I have learned some more techniques for creating large scale make-up effects that will help me create full nude severely rotted zombies. I have scuplted some new zombies face make-ups as well and are far more detailed.
BTW, Bone Sickness 2 will not be shot on mini dv as stated before. The main reason we are holding off on filming at the moment is to see how much money the "money people" want to pump into part 2. It's going to be made with pro equipment this time.
GeorgeHayes, all the zombie make-ups were made by scuplting zombies with clay onto a plaster cast of an actor. Then molding with plaster and then pouring foam latex into the mold and baking.
The appliances were then glued onto the actors. Usually a 2 piece appliance for the face and a bald cap. There were also multi layered chest pieces as well has full hand zombie gloves.
Added to the Unearthed Films dvd version you will see a full body appliance. Fully rotted with bones, ribs, spine, muscles all exposed.

Sounds great. Can't wait to see them. It's good to know you're a filmmmaker who puts a lot of work in the zombie designs, unlike other low-budget films were the zombies usally look like ordinary people with a grey or yellow skin condition.
I've done some zombie masks and costumes myself, and I tried to make them really nasty with exposed skeletal parts peeking through the remains of the disolved flesh. That's how I like my zombies, a friend of mine actually calls 'em "old school ghouls" It's nice that filmmakers like you are bringing back these kinds of zombies cause I'm starting to get tired of recently dead ones wich are the most common ones in todays movies.

Thanks! We'll be shooting it in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. I'm not sure when though.
I agree Jay. I have no interest in grey faced fresh zombies anymore.

I've never seen Bone Sickness. Is it a good zombie movie or just a gore sampler. The zombies in the screenshots remind me of my old zombie costume I wore on Halloween a few years ago. I'm not really into films that are just camp filled in with exploding heads like many of the Brain Damage films I've seen. I like a decent story filled in with decent zombies and a couple exploding heads.

Morbidfilm

Yeah I made sure there is a character story in there. Some reviews even said the middle was a bit too story oriented, but then the gore kicks in.
I do realize non stop gore with no story can get very boring.

Cool. It seems most people would rather skip on the story and jump right into the next decapitation, but there has to be some slow parts so the action parts seem much better. Don't want the audience becoming desensitized too soon.

Plus I wanted veiwers to hopfully give a shit about the people they were watching and fear what was going to heppen to them.
I like opening strong, then quiet down to build the story and characters and leave a little to the imagnation. Give the audience a false sense of security...then ****ing nail them with the gore finale! :)

Damn it's been a while for any news on this. Unfortunately I have to report that the movie discussed in this thread is not happening. The budget never came through. Figures that were told to us kept shrinking and shrinking until we finally had to ask, yes or no? And we all agreed no.
We almost had a budget! But we are back on our own again. Maybe a few years down the road we will make Bone Sickness 2 on our own if there is still interest. Or maybe we will say the hell with it and make a whole new zombie movie. But we do have new projects coming up soon and we will be giving birth to FETUS around May 2007 and it's going to be sick!
Thanks for all the support people! We appreciate it.

Sorry to hear that dude! I know a lot is going on in the indie horror industry so I'm not completely surprised.

I'll be on the look out for FETUS! Make us proud!

Yeah it's too bad. It would have been a good business experience. But I'm not heart broken over it. I can look at it like...instead of cranking out yet another indie zombie sequel, we can create something original and wild.
And we do have some ****ed up shit we want to show you!
And yes the indie market is kinda ****ed up right now. Hint to other indie filmmakers...self distribution. (nothing against Unearthed. They are a great company. The retailers are ****ing things up)

Not coming to a dvd near you, Bone Sickness 2 : Budget Sickness. :)

What camera are you using?

Morbidfilm

Of course Blind Dead. :)
We started out using my old Sony VX1000. Until my house was robbed and the Sony was stolen with other things.
After months of the movie being shut down, we are now using a Panasonic DVX100B. Both cameras were set at 30p speed.
Our next movie will be shot on 24 frames per second.
