I was watching ROTLD last night and had a few questions pop into my head.
1. What was it that Frank cleaned the canister glass off with? Was it a rolled up cloth towel or an entire roll of paper towels?
2. When Freddy flipped the "Split Dog" over he held up his hand as if it were covered with something. If the Split Dog was meant for a school then they would be sealed. What was on his hand?
3. When Burt brings in the trash bags to the funeral home, Ernie says, "Awe, Burt! That's illegal!" What's illegal? What did they do at that point?
Like I said, these are pointless questions but maybe some good coversations will come out of it.

I think he used the end of an entire roll with some Windex... Isn't that wasteful?
2. When Freddy flipped the "Split Dog" over he held up his hand as if it were covered with something. If the Split Dog was meant for a school then they would be sealed. What was on his hand?
Hmmmm... I'm not sure what you're talking about... I guess I have to pop the DVD in, and watch that part again.
3. When Burt brings in the trash bags to the funeral home, Ernie says, "Awe, Burt! That's illegal!" What's illegal? What did they do at that point?
I thought he said, "that's inhumane," but I could be wrong.

1) roll of paper towels
2) i think he was just disgusted by touching the "live" dog
3) illegal as in inhuman

Good call, ZK101. However, how could Ernie mean that somethings inhuman when he didn't know what it was? He didn't know about the "rabid weasels" until after he made the statement. (If I remember correctly)

I believe Ernie may have been speaking about unauthorized people entering in the funeral homes restricted area. Ernie brought up the whole illegal after Burt says he's "got a few friends" and opens the door.

But that's not illegal! According the American Association of Mortuary Sciences, page 56 section 9 subsection 13, it clearly states that the proprieter of said mortuary dormitory as long as within guidelines conherent to the local statues abiding to fortune and good taste...what the hell am I talking about?!?!?!?! :loon:

I had a chance to check my private DVD/Video library, and reexamine ROTLD...
Here are my findings.
1. What was it that Frank cleaned the canister glass off with? Was it a rolled up cloth towel or an entire roll of paper towels?
Yep, just like I said before... The end of a whole roll of paper towels, and Windex.
2. When Freddy flipped the "Split Dog" over he held up his hand as if it were covered with something. If the Split Dog was meant for a school then they would be sealed. What was on his hand?
Well, the "spilt dog's" underside (cross section) was exposed, and Freddy touched it with his hand... I'd imagine, since it had been reanimated, it felt slimy to the touch.
Furthermore, it was laying in a loose plastic bag on the floor, but you're correct, it wasn't sealed... For some reason I get the feeling the split dog was harden, or freeze dried, and the 2-4-5 trioxin reanimated its tissue... In actuality, those split dogs of that size are made of plastic, and not real flesh... There's something about that dog's proportions that seemed all wrong, which brings up a more interesting question about, "why did it come back to life in the first place?"
3. When Burt brings in the trash bags to the funeral home, Ernie says, "Awe, Burt! That's illegal!" What's illegal? What did they do at that point?
I listen to the scene, and Ernie never says "Illegal" or "Inhuman."
Here's what was said line by line.
Ernie: What in the hell do you want me to do?
Burt: You have a crematorium, right?
Ernie: You want to burn them?
Burt: That's what I had in mind.
Ernie: That's Cruel!
Burt: I can't think of anything else to do.
Ernie: You can't just burn animals alive! It's just too hideous.

What I heard took place before that. It was right when he entered and then said "I've got two of my guys outside" or something like that. It was right when Frank and Freddy entered and Ernie kind of whined and then I think I heard him say something about illegal. I'll check when I get home. This is really bugging me now! :x

Here's another one. Does the girl that plays Freddy's girlfriend in ROTLD1 also star in ROTLD2. I know that the actors that played Freddy and Frank were in ROTLD2 but I can't tell if it's the same girl. I could look at the credits but I'm too lazy.

No, not the same girl. Though you might recognize the girlfriend from ROTLD2 as she was also in "Night of the Creeps" and "Killer Klowns from Outer Space".

So what's illegal? :x Maybe it was an error on the part of the actor. Maybe he said the wrong line and no one caught it?

I'm fairly certain he meant unauthorized people coming into the restricted area of the funeral home. Perhaps I'll get a chance to ask Dan O'Bannon soon and we can clear that up.

OK... I went back a little further, and found the scene that you were talking about... I guess the rabid weasels talk through me a bit off.
I agree with TBD's assessment.... Maybe they weren't breaking any Federal or State laws, but perhaps they were infringing on company policy.

Yeah seriously. I've been waiting on an interview request to be cleared so we'll see what happens. I've had the chance to interview quite a few of my horror faves. I love it. Check out some of the ones I've already done. Not a giant selection, to be sure, but I have a publishing company to run lol I love the Doug Bradley interview I did.

Entire Roll....Very wastefull, but what the hell
Yes it would have been in either a loose plastic bag or vac. sealed
It's illegal for anyone other then the imbalmer to be in the imbaling room...the only reason Burt was allowed in was because Ernie and he were friends, but still by law NO ONE other then the imbalmer and other needed staff are allowed. Most states have similar laws concearing non-staff personel in imbalming areas.
A good friend of mine's brother owns a funeral home, and I've tryed to gain access to restriced areas but he's somewhat anal about obeying the law.

I figure the reanimated split dog chewed his way out of the packaging and he was holding up his hand freaked out cause he just touched a living dead dog and was grossed out.

It's illeagal to secretly burn things at a crematorium, Ernie probably thought the bags were full of body parts.
At least that's my take on them

just watched ROTLD tonight. hadn't seen it in a long time, and this is exactly what i was wondering...
Ernie was working on a cadaver when Burt comes over. after they burn the bags, there's one more shot as they walk past the table and you see the blue sheet covering the feet. next time we see the table, it's empty and there's no explanation of where the body went. thinking about it now, that would've been a great opportunity for a living dead. imagine that guy walking around, half embalmed, with the tubes sticking out of him!
so, where'd he go?

Here is a pointless question:
Why were the zombies talking? I prefer the movies where they moan and groan. Beside for Bub's one-liner, I hate it when zombies say whole sentences: "Come back to the hospital", etc. ( Could'nt think of any of the other lines, I hate the Night of the Living Dead series where they talk! )

1.) rolled of paper towels...
2.) Goop...And yes, it would have realistically been sealed, but it's a horror movie, hence the goopeyness of the split dogs insides...
3.) He was reffering to Burt bringing people into the embalming room while a body was there...In some states, without prior approval, that is indeed illegal...

you didn't mean to say "Night of..." did you? They talk in Return of the Living Dead because it's a comedy. i thought everyone knew it was a comedy. i think the talking zombies in Zombi 3 are stupid, but the lines in ROTLD are hilarious! "Send more paramedics" "Send more cops"
but back to my question...it's not really pointless, but it is a question about the movie, so:

I'm going to make the assumptieon that Ernie moved the corpse due to the fact the paramedics were on their way and it's illegal to be in an enbalming room with a corpse in it. Also as far as the infamous blooper of the tank being open when Tina goes in to find Freddy, I don't know if anyone noticed this but there is a handprint on the tank cover instigating that the tank was once closed but somehow re-opened. Now I've thought of two possibilities, 1. the tank reopened due to it not being properly sealed, as you may notice in the beginning Frank has to turn a valve to get it to open so maybe the same procedure must be used to close it. 2. The Tarman may have reopened it to set a trap for anyone who may check it out. As most of you may notice he does not attack Tina right away but waits for her to get to the tank before he comes after her. If he's smart enough to figure out a wench can pull a door open, then why wouldn't he think of this also?
No, not the same girl. Though you might recognize the girlfriend from ROTLD2 as she was also in "Night of the Creeps" and "Killer Klowns from Outer Space".
Oh Killer Clowns!
I think I do remember her in that flick.

She was one of the Sorority Girls, she was the one who said; "Well I'm so sure don't everyone run to answer the door at once...god." That was when Zombie B*** was knocking at the door. I censored his name just incase no one's seen the movie.
