Ok I just watched the first half of Dawn 78 on DVD, never done that before my copy is on VHS, while watching the DVD version I noticed some scenes were deleted and some edited, why was this done?

Which version did you have on VHS. As far as I know, there are several cuts of this floating around. One of them is suppossed to be close to three hours long.

My VHS copy is the digitally remastered collectors edition, 2 tape box set put out in 1996.

And even if it has some extra scenes in it why were others changed for the DVD?

Example: when they first enter the mall the chick(forgot her name) opens a box of food and says they are cans of sardenes(spelling?) in the DVD she says SPAM.

Sardines...

That is weird, maybe they wanted to make it more accessible to the modern audience? I don't know. I'll ask around though.

What else have they done?

Hmmm. I've had my video cassette copy since the early nineties and I'd swear it's SPAM in that one as well. Maybe I'm wrong.....

Well, the container looks more like a SPAM container than a sardine container that she's holding. But it's been forever since I watched the VHS version.

I must be having a totally RETARDED day, I just watched it and she does say spam, why did I think she said sardenes all these years?

And to make matters worse I just noticed "directors cut" on my box....

Ok everyone call me DUMB ASS!

I think I know whats going on... I HATE SPAM! and subconciously my brain was trying to deny the existance of that nasty meat product. So I heard sardenes(also nasty) when she said spam. It wasn't until my brother said "Romero must really like spam to have it his movies so much" and then I thought why did she say spam???? I thought.......

Either that or the underwear gnomes are playing tricks on me. :loon:

I believe Spam is a registered trademark, perhaps they couldn't get permission to use it on the video (some companies are particular about their brand association) but if it's on a later version the company could have relented (money speaks louder than words).

I wish someone would sample Fran saying "Spam" in that very scene and put it in a hip dance-house type song.

I guess Go-Go is going to have to change the name if this thread to "GAR and Spam: a retrospective".
