Hey guys, I've got an older laptop running a 1 gig athlon with 256 megs of ram. Unfortunately, I got stuck with a crappy little 8mb graphics emulator, so I can't run a hell of a lot of stuff. I was looking for something along the lines of GTA Long Night or the UT stuff that might be able to run on an 8mb graphics set up. I can run, Armada II, Star Wars Battlegrouds and Dungeon Siege if that gives you an idea of what I'm working with. Unfortunately, I can't get Command and Conquer Generals to work. If anybody knows of anything that will work on my laptop let me know. I only get to play Long Night on my desktop, which is at home, which I am only at on weekends, where my g/f wants all my time. You get the idea. I need a zombie game for here at school with a little more kick than the flash games . Thanx.

Well let's see, if you have Half-Life then here is a few good mods to add:
Heart of Evil: (http://www.planethalflife.com/heartofevil/about.asp)
Combines Vietnam War and zombies. It's pretty cool but the difficulty it a tad higher than un-modded Half-Life as the mutants and zombies seem to be able to take alot of damage before going down. Since ammo seems to be sort of scarce you'll find yourself using the machette alot more than you'd like to instead of dumping 60 bullets into a zombie.
They Hunger (http://www.planethalflife.com/manke/theyhunger.htm)
Yes, another Half-Life mod but this one has zombies. Basically the idea is just to survive making your way through the coutryside on foot and finding out what the hell happened. This mod is a tad creepy but may annoy some people a bit as you'll realize... there is no armor to pick up. Therefore you may die alot from police zombies who seem to be able to snipe your sorry ass better than any monster in Half-Life but that's all more reason to get back in the game and go zombie huntin'! It's one of my favorite mods so I'd give it a try.
For multi-player Half-Life zombie mods you have two choices:
Brain Bread (http://www.ironoak.de/BB/)
This is a great multi-player mod where you pick a server, pick a character, start kicking zombie ass. The zombies grunts are computer controlled and then all the humans are... well... human players. Take too many hits from a zombie though and you become a zombie unless the server has the "no friendly fire" option on. Then you'll just die and respawn. This is more of a cooperative mod because you can't kill each other... unless you're a zombie. But I'm not sure if this one takes more than 8Mb of video though...
Zombie Panic (http://www.zombiepanic.org/site/index.php)
This mod is okay. You start out human, and either survive or get turned into a zombie. It's more of a deathmatch mod because all zombies are played by other people and you'll soon realize that zombies win 9 times out of ten. Humans get a handgun and 7 bullets to start. Weapons and ammo are extremely scarce and don't respawn and with everything you pick up the slower you move making you easy prey. There is no armor either so if you take maybe 2 or three hits that's it, you're now a legion of the undead. Like I said, it's okay if you're up for a real challenge.
Now, there are other games such as House of the Dead 1 and 2, Flesh Feast, Myth II: Soulblighter, and if your computer can run DOS games get a copy of Blood (pass on Blood 2 though). These are good but old and of course finding them outside of eBay is impossible. Hope this helps and maybe get some gaming out of that laptop. :)

I know this is probably a stupid question, but does Half-Life work with a usb controller? I am not a huge fan of FPS's but since I can mod it into a zombie game I'm down, as long as I can use a controller. ...Hands too fat for keyboard and mouse...

A far as I know. I have a USB gamepad and it works fine with just about everything.
Flesh Feast is a top-down shooter but it's not that great. The movies in it were cool but it just didn't help the game play but hey, it's zombies.
You could look for the game based on Dawn of the Dead called Zombi but it's extremely ancient and probably won't even work.
