Loved this first 2 more, but AOD is a classic.

As above. I prefer the first 2, but also love this movie. Far more slapstick humour than the others and not enough gore but i'm not complaining :)

The Evil Dead Trilogy is certainly a classic.

At this time...this version of AOD is superior to all other AOD releases, unfortunately, it's region 3 so for those of you with region 1 players, you'll miss out.

Yeah i LOVE the cover artwork for that DVD! I believe some famous italian guy who was known for drawing the Conan posters (and others among all)drew it and i must say it's by far the coolest AOD cover to date! If i could find a big enough picture of the artwork i would slap it on a t-shirt in a heartbeat. But i guess a t-shirt i made with the comic book drawing of Ash by Scott Cambell on it will have to do now!

Awesome movie, even in spite of some of the fight scenes being poor (where Ash and Evil Ash are sparring against each other with each having 2 swords at once...also, Ash uses the blunt end of a spear to make Deadites fall over...so they die just by falling down? that's dumb), and also Campbell's acting stunk the whole place up. But it had good writing in it. My favourite line:

"KLATUU...VERADA...NI*COUGH COUGH COUGH*...uh oh..."

campbells acting was good i think in all the movies, anyone here about the next AOD movie that will have Xander from buffy the vampire slayer in it as the main character him being ash's son???

Ash could not be played by anyone else other then Bruce. The job he did in AOD was the in the trilogy. Ash's character just got better as the series went on.

yeah, i think sci-fi edited it so much there was nothing left but cheap rubbery costumes and hokey dialog.

hokey dialog.
Mmmmm...no...that's pretty much a good descip of AOD's dialogue.

hehe, i know i'll have to see it uncut someday anyway. i was just surprised at the look of it. i guess that's tp be expected when you make a low budget period piece (time travel, too).

Campbell's acting stunk the whole place up.

"Lady - I'm afraid I'm gonna have to ask you to leave the store"

Ah... I see it's happened already.

I've got the trilogy on DVD with extra stuff - but, and this is a BUMMER - the U.K. version does not have both endings!!! (The store ending ain't on it) - luckily though, I do have it on video, and that has both versions - is this the only time Vid. wins over DVD? Could be!

I prefer "Evil Dead 2: Dead By Dawn" which is one of the coolest horrors ever... but this certainly deserves credit for being a great film!

As to Bruce - come on, who else could do the job?

Val Kilmer?

Nah - it HAS to be B.C.!

"Definatly a classic sey of movies. I loved all three. AOD would have been a disaster with out Bruce, in my opinion. I think it's mainly because it's obvious that he is absolutely in love with the role of Ash."
