This is my question regarding the Dead saga
well as things are getting clear about at least
when things happened for me one question still remains
thats why it happened .
I had rented the remake and listened to the director cometary
on it they had mentioned that they had some one who took part
amoung the chat lines who simply told them that they simply didnt
need to know what happened to set this in to motion I was wondering
if you guys eithier ran in to this type of thing or at least found out
what happened

I dont think there is a reasionable answer to your question,it might be explained in the sequal and if your want info on the sequal theres a thread on in the forums. If I had to guess as to why and where the the infection came from it would military experaments being carried out.

I thought the remake (which I liked) didn't make much sense with the speed of the "infection". I also didn't buy the fact that the nurse and husband (?) didn't get word until the morning after. Didn't they have relatives or friends (or neighbors) who would call or come over and say, "hey, there's some weird shit going on".

They were to busy shagging.

It's a movie for christsake. It's a moot point as to whether there were friends or family who could call because it was a script. lol I know some people would like plot holes answered but that doesn't always happen and sitting around guessing is a bit pointless. In some cases it borders obsessive and creepy.

I think there is a simple explanation. The world was going to hell! Who would have time for a phone call when they were fighting for thier lives.

If you watched the movie, the husband turns the tv off.
Not quite. They take a shower together and leave the TV on when a warning is being broadcasted. They don't see it cause theyre both in the shower.

I recall way back, when this first came out, someone made the same comment, and she happened to be a nurse. I do believe that the Zombies in the Dawn remake would've spread the infection much faster, than the ones in Night of the Living Dead, because of two points:
The Dawn infection spread much quicker, thus the victims turned much faster.
When you have running Zombies going door to door, the job gets done much faster.
I also didn't buy the fact that the nurse and husband (?) didn't get word until the morning after. Didn't they have relatives or friends (or neighbors) who would call or come over and say, "hey, there's some weird shit going on".
Well, the shit-hit-the-fan during the night time hours, so many people would've been oblivious to what was going on, until perhaps it was too late. Also, during these kind of emergencies, telephones, and routes of transport (namely highways) become logged jammed, and useless. For example, when we large portions of the US (northeast & midwest), along with eastern Canada had a major blackout, cell phones became useless because the cell towers need power to operate. If one should happen to go down?... That's ok. You're cell phone will be redirected to another cell tower. But if they all go down across a vast area, then you have no cell usage. What in the hell are they good for anyway, if they are not going to work when you really need them?

Agreed. Remember that Sarah Polley's character tries to use the phone after Louis (aka- disposable bite victim #1) is attacked by Vivian. All she got was the "all circuts are busy" recording.

Yep, absolutely. I agree with most of what's been said here. My only point is that it happens REALLY fast. Too fast IMO. I know its only a movie and script. However, I simply feel this was a weak point in the script. That's all. I really enjoy the movie--especially the unrated extended version DVD which I own. It will rank up there with my favorite zombie movies.

DVDA? DOTD remake is a great movie. I try not to think about it too much so I can enjoy it more.

GAR's dead films give several diffrent possible reasons for the "rising":
Radiation being carried by the Venus probe (Night)
Voodoo/Hell being full (Dawn)
God punishing us (Day)
Snyder's Dawn didn't give a possible reason and as Sgt. Death said it may be further explained in the sequal....maybe it will be one of the above three, or something entirely new.

I like the fact that the cause is ambiguous in Dawn '04, as well as in all the Romero movies. My personal favorite reason is the "Hell is Full/God is Punishing Us" line of rationale - not only is it demonic and scarier than a mere virus or radiation, basically there need be no logical limitations as to how the zombies function (i.e., sprinting zombies, thinking zombies, etc. may be possible).
That said, I do prefer Romero's shambling zombies with an intellect basically just above (if at all) pure instinct, and with all dead coming back to "life" - not just infected persons.

Too true, I like being able to think out my own reasons using clues from the movie....with GARs you have three good ones and nearly endless possiblities for others.
Giving no clues in Dawn 04 leaves the door open and allows the fans mind run wild.
PS. I too prefer the Hell is full/God is punishing us theory.

I like that theory also because It leaves it open to any thing.... God is crafty fellow!

Did you even watch the credits ending? It showed them on an Island where there were zombies. At no point did it show any of them die when they got there. In fact, there's a forum on the possible release of dawn of the dead 2 which is believed to carry on where the first one left off.

Man! You people must really have it in for this thread. :axe:
I allowed it to survive, because in the Dawn of the Dead 04' thread, there was the very same debate, and people had some interesting takes on whether the group made it or not at the end... Instead of you two forcing me to kill this thread, I'm just going to add this one on to the secondary Dawn 04' thread.
Now please... Get back to discussing whether you think the group in Dawn 04' made it past the end, or whatever you want to point out about Dawn 04'. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y152/bzn123/Smileys/Characters/1bnz_smiley.gif

He could either be talking about a brand of airsoft guns or referring to two Desert Eagle handguns. I'm thinking the airsoft guns.

Wasn't the Double Eagle a gun in one of the Fallout series of games? I plan to play through this again, but I could swear that is what they called the big handgun the gangsters carried in that game.
