Yet another zombie game is on the way, this one blatantly inspired by Dawn Of The Dead. Here's the basic storyline and blurb on it, courtesy of Eurogamer.net:
"It follows the adventures of intrepid photo-journalist Frank West. Hunting down a scoop, he winds up wandering round a small suburban town - only to realise it's been overrun by an army of the undead.
Frank decides to take refuge in the local shopping centre, but it turns out the zombies are already wreaking havoc there, too. In his struggle for survival he must use anything he can get his hands on to defeat the evil dead and find out exactly what their problem is.
Technically it all sounds very spanky, with a dynamic real-time system that means zombies become stronger, faster and generally more powerful once the sun goes down - making surviving after dark an even tougher mission.
We're promoised “unprecedented numbers” of enemies descending on Frank in endless waves, and an infinite supply of weapons since he can use whatever he finds in the mall - carrier bags, kitchen knives, Argos catalogues - to defend himself."
And now for the juicy stuff......SCREENSHOTS! (http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=59140) (w00t!)

Looks real good, but that look on Franks face would have to go. Looks like he trying to drop load while head slammin' zombies.
He probably is dropping a load! I think many would while fighting the undead!
Looks like the game certainly has a lot of potential.

Thus far the best part of this game is the concept art. If it turns out half as good I will be in heaven.

the only thing I am dissipointed about this game is its only for X-box 360 (atleast for now), why its sad is not because i have a PS2 and am planning to get a PS3, its because the primary system/systems to have a lot of good zombie games (and one, from what I have heard, zombie fans go to more than X-box) are GC and PS2, I think Capcom should have thought about this a little more and equated how RE went for them when they put it on to GC (which compared to only on PS was not as good). so I hope Capcom chooses to make it multiplatform (hell maby they already have that planned but it is only said to be for X-box360 because it is the first to come out and will be the only one out for a while). but either way it looks excelent!

The fact that you can go after zombies with what looks like a mulcher or some type of lawn-mower means I will be buying this game, along with a 360.

I AM NOT WORTHY OF YOUR UNHOLY UNDEAD GLORY. but seriously that is incredible and who would imagine that a soldier in zombie movies would die when being surrounded by those things but a war reporter being a zombie hunting jackie chan and just slashing and apperently shooting everything with the camera (nice little detail there). and when did reporters become professional wrestlers, and the lawn mower was a great thing to use in there. AND HAVE YOU EVER SEEN SO MANY ZOMBIES AT ONCE IN A VIDEO GAME (saying this while mouth has dropped impossiblily low). i was looking for good looking games on the 360 and I have my excuse for purchasing it. this is going ot be a good game NO EXCUSE FOR OTHER WISE

360 is backwards compatible. I was going to get 360 for Morrowind Oblivion alone, but with all these zombie games being released for it this desicion becomes even more of a NO BRAINER. Whoever is behind this game is definitly a Romero fan. The mall and the emphesis the developer in the interview put on the human relations shows this. This one is going to be a keeper.

I agree. I have a PS2, and want a PS3. I really hope Dead Rising hits the PS3 like Capcom is allowing for Resident Evil 4 from the GameCube to the PS2 this fall. The good news is, the PS3 isn't scheduled to ship till fall 2006, so that's plenty of time for Capcom to convert this game to the PS3.
I've never seen a game with more zombies in one scene than Dead Rising. Amazing, but I don't know how the player will be able to survive for more than a minute without getting bit from behind, considering the screen is filled with hundreds of the dead? Looks incredible.

well perhaps they wont, perhaps they'll have it so that you can take a bite but keep going, they might have several bites then you have to find maybe a fire or a medical station or store type place and patch your self up so yeah i doubt that any normal gamer and even the expert ones would not be able to last without being bitten. and i think that in that trailer that he was getting bitten when he was in the huge mob of zombies so there has to be something you can do to heal your self or cure your self. another thing that might give credit to the cure thing is you have to rescue or in any other general way help them to get their side of the story so one of them might tell you that they have or know where a cure is in the mall.

360 is backwards compatible.
Only to a limited extent. While the PS3 will be fully compatible with PSX and PS2 titles, Microsoft have stated that the X-Box 360 will have limited backwards compatibility with a select range of titles - mainly the AAA-selling ones like Halo. The X-Box 360 will apparently ship with an X-Box emulator to do this, but it won't support the majority of X-Box titles. This is because the 360 has a different graphics architecture to the original X-Box, so the older games won't work the same way under it.

I have to admit I'm not very excited about this game. I'm interested in how it will play but it doesn't have me staring at the calendar like "City of the Dead" does.
I like some of the imagery in Dead Rising. Like the sheer number of the zombies. But part of it doesn't seem serious enough for me. I mean in the trailer he lead character uses a bowling ball to plough over a bunch of them. And the zombies get pretty close to him without him being torn apart. Seems like it will be a hack and slash type game with the gimmick of using whatever is at the mall to take out your enemies.

Mall and Zombies .... now that seems slighltly familier
:)
Let me clarify. It's not the mall setting (obviously that's worked), it's the gimmicky nature of killing the zombies using anything you can find in a mall, that bothers me. A bowling ball or lawn mower is too silly and cartoony for me.
Feels like the developers are making a hack and slash game in which the novelty will be running around a mall setting killing wave after wave of enemies using varying zany store merchandise and wrestling moves. It's like they needed a way to show off the power of the Xbox 360 by showing hordes of characters on the screen with no slow downs and decided the undead would be the best way to do it. Basically it doesn't feel like they set out to make a zombie game, more that the stumbled across the idea.
Now if there weren't the wrestling moves or the bowling balls. If you ran around a mall collecting logical weapons like guns, chainsaws, shovels. If there weren't so many surrounding you that in a movie that person would be dead for sure. If all that, well then I would be more hopeful. But who knows, perhaps they will prove me wrong.
I'll follow it's release and be interested in trying it, but I think it will be rental, not a purchase. And certainly doesn't compare to my excitement for "City of the Dead".

And this may be a stupid question, but does anyone one know an estimate to how much the games/system is going to cost?

The game will likely cost the same as a regular Xbox game now, if not a little more. The system itself is still under wraps. It will be a fine balance between being cheap enough that people will actually buy it and high enough that Microsoft doesn't lose too much money (it's said that companies take a hit on the consoles, in the hopes of making up for it in games).
It doesn't seem to want to be quite the Jack of All Trades the PS3 is aiming for, so I would guess less than that when it comes out. Although that doesn't really answer your question now. I would say at least what the Xbox was going for when it first came out.

I beleved that I have posted on this thred before, but I may not have. but this is a question for you guys out there. how manny of you think that this is going to be a permenent 360 only release. I for one dont feel that it will be only for 360 (I mean it will for when 360 comes out) but I feel that is because there are no other systems to put it on at the time, but as soon as PS3 comes out it will also be ported to that. the main reason I feel that way is capcom couldnt be that stupid again I mean they now know how good zombie games can become and usuially turn out to be, as well as they know how bad the screwed up by putting the RE series on only GameCube, (not that I have anything agains GC, I own one) the reason for the screw up is because they could have made a lot more money out of the series and wouldnt have to be proting RE4 over to another system to gain a larger amount of money. so do you guys agree with me or not? also for you guys asking for the costs about the game councoles, from what I here Xbox 360 will be about $300 or $400. while PS3 will be a minimum of $450, all the way up to $500. but it has already been confirmed that PS3 will be the best system in terms of what it offers its capibilities graphics etc. all that is needed to bee seen is which one will be favored by the public
Tainted Love
06-27-2005, 07:54 PM
I'm not sure if it will be on both systems. I suppose it depends on the agreement with the publishers and Microsoft. If the game is very popular then it's likely it could be ported over to the PS3. If it's not a hit then it's unlikely it would be.
I went to Gamespot to see if I could see it in the list for PS3 games and it wasn't there so I'm guessing at the moment the plan is just to put it on Xbox 360 and go from there.
Here (http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/action/deadrising/preview_6126254.html) is Gamespot's "Hands-on" impression of the game.

Capcom seems to have a tendency to switch beds a lot. Initially RE4 was slated only to come out on the Cube, since then, plans have been put in the works to multiplatform it. Unfortunately for Nintendo, what was to be it's flagship adult franchise has become little more than another boat in the Harbor. At least, according to Game Informer. There were supposed to be like five or six exclusive ResEvils for the Cube, so far they have two. Sux to be them.
I relented a long time ago. One must buy every console if they want all of the good games. Ain't life a bitch?

Geez!! I'm going for the PS3 mainly because my PS and PS2 collection is pretty big and backwards compatibility is a huge plus. But at that price tag I might be waiting a few years after it's initial release.

the PS3 is going to come out anywhare from a half a year to 1 year after Xbox360. personally I am saving up for a PS3 since it is still going to cornor the market for gaming just like PS2 does now. it will be the best system for everything except for online play (ultimately I have to say that will ultimatly change sooner or later). personally like many I feel that the xbox 360 coming out that early (and with a sad lack of bassically everything, meaning good games graphics power, etc, compared to PS3, and possibly even revolution) will make it this generations Dreamcast.

I think that by coming out first the 360 is going to be much like the PS2. I don't see it failing the way the dreamcast did, but rather, being the lowest powered of the three systems, as the PS2 is now.
Many people have complained about the PS2's lack of graphics capability vs. the systems that followed. Now it's the Xbox's turn. The major stumbling block for Microsoft I think will be that they are battling a massive library of games with Sony.
Speaking of games, if Nintendo was smart, they'd start putting their old NES and SNES titles on GameCube discs instead of trying to pawn them off to the kiddies on the advance.

I thought Dreamcast was okay but it was rushed to the market and had hardly any third-party support and that killed it.
I think the 360 will do okay but it sounds like they are shooting themselves in the foot with limited backwards compatibility. Maybe they want to get the market on games before PS3 hits. I like the fact I can play all 4 Silent Hill games in a row without switching systems or even most of the Resident Evil games. And now I can look forward to Resident Evil 4 on PS2 which is said to be looking good.
When it came to choosing between Xbox and PS2 it was the ability to play PS2 games and the games available for PS2 that convinced me which one to get and I don't regret it at all. Gamecube wasn't even a factor since the only good games at the time were all made by Nintendo and I'm not too much into "Doink, doink, doink, SPROING!! Ding-ding-ding!" kiddish type games. One thing is for sure... never purchase a system during initial release because upgrade versions will follow within a year or so where all the bugs are worked out and new features added.
Dead Rising looks to be cool and a bit cartoonish at the same time and I'd like to see if the 360 will choke with massive amounts of zombies on screen.

Good luck waiting around for someone to make an xbox 360 emulator. Have you seen the specs on the machine? A big IF there is emulation, it would be in the form of Roms that would have to play ON the xbox 360. That's also a great way to support Capcom by just getting their games for free. Here's an idea, how about if you like the game, you go and buy it? How do you know so much about what the game is and isn't at this point? There hasn't been much information released on the story yet. I'd say from the screenshots with the main character on top of a delivery truck surrounded by a legion of zombies that it's pretty safe to say that it's a survival horror game. In addition to that it's also made by Capcom who if you didn't know created this little survival-horror series of games called Resident Evil.

Go to gametrailers.com for some good in game footage, the zombies appear to act in a very zombie movie like fashion. My only complaint is the chainsaw doesnt seem to do the type of carnage you would expect it to, hell look at Evil Dead Regen; that is some awsome chainsaw carnage.

Speaking of, Is this game coming out on the date at gamestop ect (January 31) or is going to come out after Summer 06 (developer Keji Inafune interview)? I figured the 31ist for US/UK otherwise they would have stated at the various game shopping websites, and perhaps summer 06 for a japanese release. My only concern is that there has not been alot of news out about it which may verify the Summer 06 release. I really hope not though.
Have a good day

edit: I just went to 1up and it states it as being out on Feb 20. So that is better than summer 06 but just a little bit worse that Jan 30

1up has some new pics of the game showing some of the other human characters you encounter including some hunters, a chubby person or two, and apparently a gypsy and an a chartered accountant that would only exist in a video game. Also shows what becomes of the NPCs if you fail, they become zombies-but I guess that’s kind of oblivious isn’t it?

The caps isaw showed that there were just a few Zombie types - like the GTA citizens - so that there would be a yellow short zombie, red shirt zombie, cop zombie, etc. I was thinking that it would get real old real fast - but now i don't think so if the game play and plot are as good as I've heard. i think I might have to spend the $ too.

Theres some new info on this game... Day and Night cycles effect how the Zombies readt, they become more aggressive at night. Also, once you start, you have 72 hours until a chopper comes and picks you up. Since the game moves at a rate of 10 in game hours to 1 real time hour, that means you have 7.2 hours of zombie killing mayhem each time you play. The endings differ on how you go about those 72 hours. Do you try and kill as many as possible? Or try to save as many innocents as possible? Maybe you just find a safe spot, and sit there for the whole 72 hours.... its up to you. There is no info on how many different endings there are, but it should be fun to find out. Those who compared this to State of Emergency are so wrong. SoE was a lame game that had lots of people running around, but not all of them were trying to eat your intestines. And dont underestimate the amount of fun it is to just run around and kill things, that is pretty much every game in the last 15 or so years... and most didnt give you the variety of "weapons" that DR has.

OK, Im sure that by now, most of us have heard of DEAD RISING, Capcoms new zombie game for the xbox 360. If you haven't heres a quick rundown.
Your a reporter and you end up in a zombie infested mall. The game is supposed to last either 7.2 hours or 15 hours, and official real time measurement has yet to be stated. In Game time that makes 3-days. You can use anything around you as a weapon. ANYTHING. From oranges in the produce section of a grocery store to a showerhead in a "home depot" esque store. you can even change clothes using all of the clothing stores in the mall.
The Game supports a "mini" RPG feature that lets you upgrade your character using prestige points. PP (prestige points) can be gained by killing zombies, protecting survivors, and taking pictures ( You ARE a reporter).
Pictures-The camera you have with you is a valuable asset. Heres how it works. The camera you have is battery powered. Your battery will run out if you constantly take pics, so you have to decide where and when the best time to use it is. When you take a picture, you have to give it time to finish printing out before you take another. The lower the battery power, the longer it takes to print out a picture. This is a very fast way to earn PP.
The game can support, wait for it, 1000 zombies on screen at any given time. OMFG 1000 ZOMBIES. DUDE.
Zombies-Ok, these are your run of the mill slow moving zombies, but they can hear you, see you, and if your close enough, even smell you. As the game progresses the zombies become smarter. In the beginning, a closed door could buy you precious time, but later on they can knock them down, or even OPEN them. On the plus side, not all zombies look alike. THere are over 250 different looks for zombies, and the odds of getting two of the same looking zombies at one time are scarce.
You-Your character will need food, water, and rest to sustain himself for the three days he is there. If you do not get these items, his health will gradually decrease, as will his performance in battle.
others- There are survivors, and in story mode, you can meet with all of them and do your best to get them out. They all move independantly and kill independantly, and they stick with you. They dont way you down, and there pretty handy to have around.
gameplay-OK. Now, you can play this game so many different ways its mind-blowing. There are missions that you have to do to advance the game. The game will act independantly on itself, so you have to be in certain places at certain times to meet up with certain people to do certain missions. Its alot of responsibility. Judging on how you play the game, there are 10 different endings. Each one shows a different fate of your character. You can drive vehicles too. From cars, to motorcycles, to bicycles. Almost everything is driveable.
CAN I PLAY AS A ZOMBIE????
Unfortunately no, but not every game is perfect. When you die in game, you basically pass out, and you wake up in a room precious hours later. YES i know this isnt realistic, and YES i wish i could be a zombie too, but, the game designers put this feature in, so that even if you die, you can still do certain missions that havent passed yet. This gives the player an incentive to keep playing even though he died.
IS THERE MULTIPLAYER?
Sadly no. No multiplayer
IS IT FREE ROAM?
Yes and no. The main game is not free roam, but if you beat the game ONE time, you unlock the free roam mode. This allows you to do whatever you want without missions, with no time constraints.
Now that you've read this far, you deserve a reward. Here's a video of the beta version. The game can look a bit better then shown, but its a trailer.

I hope there's a cheat in free roam mode (after completing the game) to change the amount of zombies onscreen from large horde, small crowd to Zero zombies onscreen. I just played the demo for this game. It’s timed--you get about twenty minutes--and the environment is limited, but my friend and I played it over and over for about three hours, so it was entertaining. It reminded me of that Rockstar title, State of Emergency, only funnier. You can pick up just about anything in the mall--including CDs, Whinny-the-Pooh heads, golf clubs, and severed hands--and you can use the items as weapons. You can actually make the zombies wear the Whinny-the-Pooh heads, and they stumble around until you shoot them. You can also heat up a frying pan and burn off a zombie’s face.
There are dozens of undead on screen, more so than any other zombie game, and the variety is outstanding--until you zoom in on their faces and realize they’re all based on five or six types, just dressed in different clothing. Still, it’s amazing. Now the zombies aren’t particularly difficult to kill or avoid, but I’m guessing they’d pose a problem during a timed mission. I don’t know because the demo doesn’t include one, but if there’s no time to thin their numbers--yeah, they could cause a stink.
One of the funnest things to do is to take a picture right after you blast off a zombie’s head with the shotgun. You have to snap the shot immediately after the boom, so that you catch the blood spray and the meaty stump of the neck. You can review your pictures via an option on the start menu. It’s fun. Lot’s of it.
In fact, I hope my friend buys the full version so I can go play it at his house. He’d never see the end of me. Not until he shoots me, that is.

its good how you can use just about anything as a weapon as this means you wont be stuck with hoardes of zombies and hardley anything to kill them with and you can also use your imagination on what you are going to kill some more zombies with next.

The game will be released for other platforms, but it may take a while.
Don't forget it's a Capcom game, and they are well known for not keeping games "exclusive" to one system.
I guess after a year it will be available for PS3 and PC. Probably PS3 first, console manufacturers tend to pay off developers to delay PC release dates.

That's possible, but I'm thinking about exclusive games like "Devil May Cry" for PS2, "Project Gotham Racing" for Xbox360, "Gran Turismo" and "Metal Gear Solid" for PS3, and Capcom's exclusive "Ultimate Ghouls and Ghosts" game for the PSP.
You have a good point though, as I remember Resident Evil 4 was a Gamecube exclusive years ago...

One thing that bothered me about the demo (although it’s a minor thing and I ended up ignoring it): the zombies bleed like fricking hemophiliacs on Mortal Kombat III, even when you peg them in the leg with a jewel case! Um, yeah, zombies don’t have circulation. They’re dead, and dead things generally don’t bleed like live things do. Maybe the game explains it--I don’t know. I just noticed it, and it bothered me for a bit. But it’s just a game, and I daresay it wouldn’t be as fun without those red bursts and splatters. Perhaps that’s why these zombies bleed. :zom3:

I have about 30 hours left. It takes about ten minutes or so to go through an hour, so anyone expecting real-life time, forget about it.
The vehicles I've encountered are as follows:
Lawn Mower
Shopping Cart
Motorcycle
The Lawn Mower is gas powered, so it runs out eventually. It's slow, clumsy to control, but cuts down zombies like grass.
Shopping cart is a little sporatic. It plows zombies out of your way, but doesn't kill them.
The Motorcycle you find following the main story line, and is very fast and kills zombies in one hit. Though if you crash many times, the bike will get destroyed, and if you're surrounded by zombies with no weapons and low on health, game over for you :D.
Yes you can free aim for head-shots. You get the third-person view when you're walking or using melee weapons, and you get first-person when you're free-aiming. If you don't free-aim, you just shoot randomly and miss a whole lot.
I'm kinda bumed about the whole game overall, because resucing people is so frustrating and it makes up a good chunk of the game time, and I've stopped doing it. The partner AI is kinda dumb and you have to babysit them. Here's a good example of what I mean:
Each Plaza in the mall is seperated, and when you leave one to enter a new one, it brings you to a loading screen. If your partners are a little away from you when you go into another Plaza, they will not follow you and wait there until they die. So, you break through a horde and manage to make it to a differen't plaza only to find out you have to fight your way BACK to your stupid allies who are standing in the middle of a horde, not botherting to run away, all the while wasting your ammo (which is very scarce) and getting hurt.
Another thing that really irks me is the whole gun/ammo thing. Basically there is NO ammo. You get a gun and it has X number of shots, and when those shots are used up, you dispense the gun. I would've liked to have seen an addition of "ammo" into the game, where, lets say, you go to a gun shop, you pick up a handgun and X number of clips, so that only takes up two inventory slots. When you run out of ammo, you wouldn't drop the gun, but you wouldn't be able to use it (maybe as a melee weapon) until you get more clips for it. The way it is now is you have to find a balance between firearms, melee, food and special items (filling your Inventory slots) and it's really a pain.

Me and my friends bought this today. It is thoroughly amazing. everything I've always wanted to do to a zombie yeah its here. The game also has an actual story line and some depth, all weapons are free aim if you want.

Thanks for the info! Great to hear there's manual aiming in 1st person, besides the 3rd person view. Yeah, I'm not a fan of rescuing slow victims who drag their feet for the zombies to catch up. Zombie lunch.
Once you beat the game, hopefully there will be unlimited ammo, total mall access and more extras. Sounds great in general, a must-have. 10 minutes per hour seems a lot longer than GTA's 1 minute=1hour (which is too short to enjoy the daylight).

the game is absolutely amazing. It has its faults, or rather it has things that people will complain about, but these are there to enhance the game. Basically it is grand theft auto with zombies. Instead of stealing any car you find, you can weild just about any thing you find as a weapon. It has a ton of things to do and isn't just about killing zombies, rather its about the characters and how they deal the zombies.

free roaming, and gory.
it's a great game and comprises everything i ever wanted to do in a zombie game.
I hate the partner AI as well. but a neat trick to get them to go where you want them is to use the 'go' command. issue a command for them to go to the destination and they get there faster than if they were just following you.

I read a review of this game on Electronic Gaming Monthly, and they gave the game a 7, 7.5, and 8 on a scale on 1 to 10 (1 the worst and 10 the best). It's also annoying at how zombies spawn again once you leave a certain area. I had tried to barricade the top level of Paradise plaza with benches and chairs and trashcans so I could just sit up there and pick off the zombies below with my rifle, but when I finished barricading one entrance and by the time I moved on to the next staircase, they had flooded the top again, and not because my baricade was crappy, because it wasn't.

True, but not MAGICALLY. Say, you leave one part of the top floor and go into a restaurant, and you go out again (after clearing out that floor) and boom, a horde has spawned.
Its beter then there not being any zombie once you clear an area. Like in the older Resident evil games when you would back track and not see any zombies for like 10 min.

... It's a video game. About Zombies. In a mall. Created by parasitic bugs. From south America. What could/could not happen isn't really an issue.... because it's a fictional piece of work. Nope. You have to fight that tank. But only if you are in the Overtime mode, and only at the end. Well, almost at the end. There's one more fight once you stop the tank. I blew it the first time and nearly chucked my controller because the last chance to save was before the tank fight.
Also, this game isn't perfect, but it's pulled me in more than any other Xbox 360 game, with the exception of "Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion". It's a blast.
Also, a tip, if you feel like the time pressures are too much just complete the first case file to open up the mall and then ignore the rest. When you pass the start time of the next case file all remaining cases will fail and you will get a message to either save your stats and quit, load or continue. Just continue. Build youself up. Do side missions if you wish (they keep popping up) for the heck of it. Explore. If you make it back to the helipad by noon on the third day you'll still get ending B, which in some ways is happier than the "true ending". Then start over and try the case files.
Great game.

Why, oh why is this only for the X-Box 360!?!? Why can't it be transfered for the PS2 like RE4?!?
dude, theres no way the ps2 could handle all that info...or any 1st gen console for that matter. one could wish though.

You "can", but the zombies who spawn in the shop or the level(s) you barricaded off will still keep appearing if you leave the area. :(

They had a guide to the mall in Dead Rising in the 2007 Codebook of Tips and Tricks, which showed where all the possible weapons and health items are. If I don't get the opportunity to play this game soon, I'm going to go nuts!
Just beat the game for the second time. Now I am playing the over time mode. I don't think I will ever get sick of this game. :guns: :zom2:

it's never freezed ONCE. it has a few times on Oblivion, but NEVER on Dead Rising.
I guess no one found the Resident Evil 2 reference at the end of the game, eh?

It would be more fun on the Wii.lets say you went to a music store in the mall and grab a bunch of CDs.You flick the Wii-mote sideways and you are hit them with flying cds.

I have seen the TV ads for Dead Rising and looked for it but discovered it's only on 360 now. Oh well, i'll get it when it comes to PC (I don't have a console)
I listen to alot of podcats. One is PCGP, PC Gamer's Podcast. In episode #44 (August 15th 06') Garry Whitta (a long writer for the mag) said that he's been hooked on Dead Rising for the 360.
He said something like 'it's the best zombie game ever made', and he suggested contacting CapCom if we want to see it on the PC, because they are considering a PC version and are 'on the fence.' So I wrote CapCom:

Subject: Dead Rising for PC
I saw your television ads for Dead Rising not long ago and thought it was a great idea for a game. I had also heard about the game from IGN, PC Gamer, GameSpot, 1up and CGW podcasts. I had given up on Oblivion and am looking for a new game to play and thought I would try Dead Rising. As a fan of the 'Dead' films and of past Resident Evil games, I was sure i'd get into this game.
The ads showed the XBOX 360 logo, but I figured it would also be available for the PC, similar to the Need For Speed Most Wanted ads showing XBOX or PS2 as the marque platforms.
Needless to say, I was dismayed to find out that the game is for console only. I do not own a console (not since the original NES) but am an avid gamer on the PC. At the end of the most recent PC Gamer podcast when the guys mention what they're playing now, Gary Whitta (I think it was Gary) how he was loving Dead Rsing. This only whetted my appetite.
If you have any plans to bring the game out to the PC, I'm there. Please let anyone who needs to know that there are gamers on the PC who would love to get this game.
Thank you,
Steve ------

We need a petition to get this game on PC! Anyone ever start a petition? has anyone heard of other ones already going? I really don't want to drop 400 on a console, (360) then another 800+ for an HDTV, when I have a decent gaming PC already. C'mon! Who's with me on this?

Sorry, I don't know how to leave a short post.
emm if i remember properly i think thats himself but photo shopped anyhow dont some of the zombies walk around the mall pushing trolleys in front of them?
Sorry I meant the sig:doh:
yeah they push trolleys around and gas bottles you can fire at. some of them carry knifes and the cop zombies carry guns although they dont know how to use em.
It really is a great game its the reason I bought an xbox 360, theres lots of ways to kill the zombies, lotsa weapons and melee moves to perform and a good story.
I especially like the big drill, after you stab a zombie with it he spins on the end of it knocking all the zombies away as you walk into them...classic :)
I hope you guys that dont have a 360 get to check it out on pc, its a true classic that needs to be on all platforms that can handle it.

I'm gonna dread having these slow survivors following me then they get stuck and eaten! or possibly have a small group armed with decent weapons then go zombie slaying as you make your way around the mall.
Heres a good power you get at lvl 50... the zombie walk!
You walk around like a zombie and they dont touch you like what they did in shaun of the dead lol very slow though.

I've played through once, and am playing through again due to having too much difficulty in overtime mode. I figure I'll level my guy up a bit more before attempting overtime again.
Overall I'd say it's a great game deserving of purchase. It is not perfect though, and can frustrate at times.

Released today in the UK
But got a copy last night,
Its Fantastic theres a couple of issues 1 being the text is too small to read unless you have a HDTV its ok on that but other than that its a gorefest where else can i bash a zombies head in with a guitar (would get banned in my local pub anyhow)
I love the idea of having a camera as well so you can take pics (sexy/Gore etc.) and getting points to level up for it.
Anyone got a copy of Deadfellas? i will have more chance of finding a breeding pair of Dodo's !

I have a map of the mall on a Tips and Tricks Codebook, and the gun shop is supposed to be in the western part of the North Plaza in a top left corridor away from the other stores. If you go to Crislips, you're too far. NOTE: Unless you enter the store at the very beginning of the game, Cletus will be defending it.

It's down a small hallway that is easy to miss. Cletus was a pain in the ass at first but all you have to do is go back out the doors and shot him from there.
Then he is a pice of cake.
