My boyfriend and I were actually talking about this sort of thing the other night. If she were exactly who she is, but instead of being a sleazy socialite, she gave tons to various charities, no one would give her the time of day. But because she is a sleazy socialite, our society loves her (or loves to hate her), either way, she gets all the publicity she needs...for basically not doing anything. Weird. We live in a really strange culture.

My problem with Paris stems from the TV show she is in and the fact that she is famous for being famous. Anyways I hear from all of these people how they love the "simple life" show because the respective heiresses are stupid and giggling all the time. What people do not seem to realize is that they are not laughing because they are vacant shells of corporal matter, rather they are laughing because they know that all the jobs that avg people have to do will never pertain to them. They only have to perform those jobs on the show for a day, thats why they are laughing all the time. They are laughing at everbody who is not a product of a wealthy family who has to struggle with their lives and the various issues that come with it (ie. job security, education, unemployment, being broke, ect.) So in essence they are laughing at all of us watching the show because every viewer means more blackberry pda things, more unecesarry cars, houses, and lord knows how much drugs. WHEW,had to get that off my chest. It just annoys me how America can by this stuff, just look at her eyes and you can tell she is aware of how dumb she is but how much that has no real bearing on her life. I need to move back to Ireland, maybe after I get out of grad school.
