Hey guys, ive been looking into City Of The Living Dead and i was woundering if they were any good? I loved Zombie. What would you recommend seeing first?
I like both movies, many here don't. Some would say that City is a slow paced movie. I personally do like Fulci's movies. I would watch City first as i prefer The Beyond.

City is good, the zombies don't show up until about an hour into it but it still keeps your attention and has some good gore. I'm getting the beyond off netflix soon so i haven't seen it but ill post my thoughts on it when i watch it.

I have seen both and would tell you to not waste any time and see both now! I think The Beyond is a better movie but City of the living dead is gorier. So if you like gore more, go with COTLD.

I definitely prefer The Beyond, but if you haven't seen either then be sure to check them out! With all the remakes going on it's only a matter of time before Universal, Fox or Lions Gate picks one of them up.

Beyond first! and don't forget City of the Walking Dead/Nightmare City!

Actually in my opinion I think the Beyond is gorier (those who've seen it, think of the spider scene and the dog attack scene just to name a few). However both are very good movies and the actress, Catriona MacColl is the main star in both the movies. She's always in good fulci films.

Watched City Of The Living Dead tonight. It definitely ranks behind Zombi 2 and The Beyond, for both style and gore, though the two standout scenes are incredible! The soundtrack is also pretty good.

I loved City of the Living Dead/Gates of Hell. More so than Seven Doors of Death/The Beyond, I guess mainly because when I watched them when I was younger The Gates of Hell creeped me out where Seven Doors of Death just left confused after initial viewing.
Both are great movies.

The Gates of Hell follows a narrative style while The Beyond is more images and nightmare sequences. I enjoy GOH more. Definitely a sweet flick.

I liked both but I thought The Beyond was just a little better.

I agree! I wasn't really impressed with "The Beyond" the first time I saw it, but I've since watched the last scene several times. It just has such great atmosphere - the very last shot is just really frickin creepy and desperate!

I watched City Of The Living Dead on Sunday past... It was okay, although I wasn't over the moon about it. Fulci's soundtrack was very atmospheric, quite similar to Zombie... but it didn't have the desparation or menace that Zombie held for me...
***SPOILER ALERT!!****
By the way, what the hell was going on at the end where our survivors are screaming suddenly at the kid running at them???

Better yet, try to figure out why there is a blow-up doll in an abandoned house out in the middle of nowhere. Man I totally dig this movie!! This is my Fulci favorite.
I prefer House by the Cemetary but Cotld still rocks:)

Yeah House by the Cemetery is pretty good too, but the little boy in the movie is really annoying. I loved City of the Living Dead, but I haven't seen either Zombie or the Beyond....those are the next ones i'm looking for in the store

Well since The Beyond was filmed here in New Orleans, I'm going to have to say see The Beyond first!
