Thanks for the info Hellfish, although there have been a number of posts regarding Long Night on this forum. I've played it myself and found it intense from the very start - and quite hard. There's nothing like having to bail out of a burning car with a few minutes to reach an army base only to find yourself surrounded by twenty odd zombies...

If I remember correctly this is a partly completed mod that adds sewers to GTA:VC and replaces the character skin with that of a S.T.A.R.S. member. I don't think it was finished.

Did any1 actually get this working? I used mod installer done what it said to do in the read me but after it loads the hellfish title screen it exits the game.
Also you dont get an option to "and tell it to run the INSTALLSCRIPT_GTAVC.TXT" do that It just installs the files to your gta game.

The game aint been working that well for me, I use the mod installed to extract the files then I move the rest by hand.

It bugs everytime you speak 2 some guy In the studio, He says something like " Its a B**** about something, but It wernt easy to take over the studio". Then you have to pick yes or No whenever I pick yes the game crashes when I pick no nothing happens.

Ja1862, there is a solution to your problem.

After completing the first mission, save your game, (it will be at the tape icon near the phonebooths at the corner of one of the studio buildings) then simply leave the studio using the stairs. Drive either to the Malibu or Vrock. The distance away from the studio is what's important, not the destination. When you are confident that you are far enough away, kill yourself. Since you will be over 40 clicks away from the studio, any zombies in or around should have been destroyed, and you can now start the mission without the crash.

Likewise, I've heard from some that simply saving, exiting Vice City and then restarting the game and loading solves the problem, though I haven't tried this.

Sounded like fun so I installed Long Night but haven't been able to get it working yet. When I click New Game the title screen shows and the progress bar does it's thing but when it fills up completely the screen goes black and just hangs there forever. Any suggestions?

It took eight hours to download, but it is worth every second.

6.5 out of 10... Thats really not bad, since there are a lot of factors that I grade on. It's enough for me to play all the way to the end and maybe a few more times...

This sounds awsome! Every time I have played a GTA game I wished there was a way to make it a zombie game. They are the perfect setting for one, especially san andreas, but I will take vice city.

For the pc version of that game does it work with controllers or joysticks? or only with keys and mouse?

I just got the game (meaning that I downloaded it and bought the game VC yesterday) and let me tell you it is amazing, it is bassically what i have allways wanted. I say bassically because there are only two things that bug me about it one is that (even though it is called long night) I dont like the fackt that it is allways night (especially the fact that it is also allways raining) but that is a verry little dislike which I can easily over look (plus with cheats I can turn off the rain for a while). the other thing is the dificulty of missions some are harder than the missions you do for zero and the hillery race misson combined but I can over look that as well for sake of realism, so I have to give it a 9.5 out of 10 it still could be better, and the only reason it wasn't the best was that it was VC and with only that to work with you cant get it perfect. So unbelievably excelent I cant wait to see what they come out with next.

Dammit, it took me four hours to get this thing up and running. Had to download the damn mod installer. Being at home, I had to scramble around for one of those 2 MONTHS FREE OF AOL SIGN UP NOW! things that you can never seem to get rid of till you want one. Then, I get the thing to work, I get to the radio station and I can't get around the corner to kill the bastard. Hell I can't even shoot him in the hand. I can't believe that I suck that bad. Download the mod from one of the mirrors Hellfish listed in his first post on this thread. Then, go to www.gtacomplex.com and download the mod installer. Then buy and install GTA Vice City. Then die...a lot. :lol:

The bikers outside shoot me and I die.
The bikers shoot me and I fall over, getting me mobbed by zombies.
or I get on a bike only to have zombies rip me off of it.

Once I made it to the film studio on foot. But that was exploiting the fact that the Zombies run at you then feel the need to file in behind you.
I had a train of 100+ zombies following me on foot to the Film studio. :scare:

TIP: If you just want to race around town killing zombies. Park your tank in the tunnels near the airport. Use any of the car cheet codes like gettherefast to get a car. Enjoy.

For sheer creepiness stand outside a car and blow it up when you are surrounded. The camera drifts to an overhead view. You'll see you corpse and all the zombies on the ground. Then the zombies get back up in swarms. :evil:

I have allways found that if you want a vehical its best to do one of two things. 1 if it is a car always try to get the zombies on the pasenger side of the car and get in to that door as well. 2 if it is a bike try running away from the bike luring them away from it then book it back there by sprinting also try to get on it from infront of the bike because you just jump on instead of doing the slow side get on.

I'm not sure about GTA but other games I mod I found you have to be prepared. Know where your folders for the game are and where the different files need to be. I've learned the hard way a couple of times with other games but once you've modded a vanilla game you'll rarely ever go back.

Take Baldurs Gate 2, a game that technically was never meant to be modded... I have like 20+ mods all running at the same time on it and I dig it!

www.gtacomplex.com It does most of the work for you. I wouldn't try and install it manually *shudder*. Download the mod installer from there and it should go smoothly. I think that there's a patch for Long Night also, to get rid of some of the bugs. But the program is a bit wonky. If you screwed up your GTA already, just uninstall it, delete everything and reinstall, then mod it with the installer. Good Luck man.

actuially some people are making one (but it isn't complete yet) it is a RE mod called Resident Evil Eschaton it is an awsome mod (unlike most mods it is a complete new game using the GTA SA engine (they erased everything except the actions your character can do and are bassically remaking it from scratch it is awsome. here is a link to there site

I use the noCD hack and I could not run the mod without Vice City telling me to insert the CD, and I have this thing against "Play discs" :D. Love the mod, but because I have to run it this way I am wondering - are the zombie "voiceovers" supposed to be the standard Vice City voices, or am I missing out on those?

no you arn't missing out the same thing happened to me (from what I know the people who did it didn't seem to do any new voice overs, which I am not totally suprised, but they didn't even surch the web for moans from zombie movies to put in to it).

There was supposed to be a couple of cheats on Vice City that you could enter via a button code. One was called "Thriller" and apparently turned the pedestrians into the zombies from the Michael Jackson video, the other was "Zombie Cop" and meant that cops that died just got up again. I could never get either to work though.

I still prefer the flying tank and "pedestrians with bows and arrows" (similar to "pedestrians riot") from GTA3. It's a shame the map is so small. San Andreas could have done with the attack helicopter from Vice City, but otherwise it's a brilliant game.

the peds hate you is the most accurate to zombie like actions. peds with wepons I chose to let you gus have just incase you wanted to make it harder, same goes with peds riot.

also sadly the peds hate you is only really well used in GTA3, SA, and LCS. Vice city has the cheat but the peds aren't agressive enough for that cheat to work properly but there is an awsome mod that rectifies VC's lack of agressive peds, that mod being "GTA Long Night" and if you dont have it downloaded but have the game I sugest that you do. and those who dont have the game now you have a reason to.

Try putting cheats in, like:
-Pedestrians riot
-Pedestrions attack you
-Unlock Rhino (tank)
-Lock wanted level
if you want to get cheats like, no gangs, no one has weapons, peds walk, or cheats like that, you should look in game shark.

You can find cheats for SA for the X-Box on [www.google.com] Just type in things like, CHEATS SAN ANDREAS X BOX, or stuff like that.

I finally got my copy of vice city and installed the mod.
Firstly id like to say that I am a little dissapointed in the mod as its still alot GTA and not much ZOMBIE (even has the original voices from VC)

I installed the patch yet when I got to the part where you say yes or no it crashed on YES.

Im probably gonna wait till they update it before I play it again.
But on the other hand I find that what is there is done pretty well.
The models look amazing, and the missions are incredibly hard (just like a zombie holocaust would be like)
That bit where you are running from hordes of them after you leave the station i was pissing myself!!!!! saw like 30 coming at me and was like shit what now???

I believe the installer had instructions in the readme on how to preserve your GTA install, and be able to uninstall Long Night.

At the moment my Vice City keeps displaying an Unhandled Exception Error on random times i load the game. I have some car mods and gravity mods and a 100% save game, which all worked before.

Now nothing works. I especially want the 100% cos its minted!:evil:

I dont suppose anyone has managed to get the mod working with a localised version of VC? I bought a (Bulgarian) copy specifically to play this mod and it just wont work whether I install with a mod runner or manually....or anything (and yes, I've tried all the obvious re-download, re-install, get rid of windows and try it in wine instead). Works fine with my brothers English copy, but he's in a different country to me so thats not much use.

And a completely off topic post - why are there english subtitles with Bulgarian voice-overs in the localised version before you mod it?

I dont suppose anyone has managed to get the mod working with a localised version of VC? I bought a (Bulgarian) copy specifically to play this mod and it just wont work whether I install with a mod runner or manually....or anything (and yes, I've tried all the obvious re-download, re-install, get rid of windows and try it in wine instead). Works fine with my brothers English copy, but he's in a different country to me so thats not much use.

And a completely off topic post - why are there english subtitles with Bulgarian voice-overs in the localised version before you mod it?


If anyone else is having similar problems with a localised patch, its easy. All you need to do is first patch the game with the english 1.1 patch and then it works fine.
