thought the first bit with the "coming to get you barbara" line was very good and the reminising of the frist three films was excellent. And its a great trailer until they go with the epileptic nonsense of flashing a thousand images at a million miles an hour at you.
it was so good with the "less is more" approach but when it starts flashing (and water zombies aside) it doesnt show you anything that we havent seen in every other zombie movie. Darkness, big bus lots of zombies...yawn.
They should hav given us a clue as to the story etc, given us a taster of there was nothing there to make me exicted because it looks exactly like dotd04.
im looking forward to it but the trailer sucked (plus apparently according to empire online theres a big spoiler of one major character about to be bitten by another major character)
and it would be interesting to see if hes gone down the rock music dotd04 route instead of staying along the lines of the slower paced original trilogy.

This is a teaser, dude, not the full trailer. They'll be plenty more to come.
And I loved it. Maybe it was just the material, but the trailer worked so much.

The trailor looked pretty slick, althouth i'd have too say the first trailer for Dawn 04, really hit the spot compaired to this one, the way DAWN used the music and slow progression into the idea that it was a zombie flic, was pretty cool.
thought the first bit with the "coming to get you barbara" line was very good and the reminising of the frist three films was excellent.
i agree, that was well done!
i'm interested to see where they go with "intelligent zombie" idea, i'm pretty sure i heard it said in the trailer. seems kinda out of style.
even so... i can't freakin wait!!! :drinking:

I have seen the Land of the Dead trailer and I now realize that there is indeed a GOD. He doesnt take the form of a benevolent invisible being in the sky that speaks through other people but in his own pure and wonderful form. He creates wonderful works of film nay... ART. He is well known as an artist and as perhaps a prophet of sorts. I think we all know who I am talking about, George... A... Romero.

Um...I didn't think the trailer was that great. I'm not saying that the movie will be horrible or anything like that. I'm reserving judgement for that. But, as far as this trailer goes...eh...pffft.
Everyone makes a big deal that Romero isn't having fast zombies, and while there aren't really fast zombies featured in the trailer, the music and the cutting is obviously trying to cater to the fast zombie fans...trying to rope in the Dawn remake and 28 Days Later crowd. In fact, this trailer didn't show to me much of a difference between this and those movies. I hope that the end result is not the case.

I'm excited about the prospect of a fourth Dead film. The trailer itself just didn't incite any more excitement from me, because I just didn't think it was a very good trailer. I hope it's not an accurate representation of the finished product, because if it is--to me--it's not much different than say, the Dawn remake (not that I have a problem per se with fast zombies...they're fine). That's not what I want...I want a slow moving Romero zombie film. Just my opinion.

I liked the trailer but I suspect it was aimed at the Dawn 2004 fans and the general public so some aspects will probbaly be slightly overplayed and I suspect we fans will have to wait for the film to really get the goodies ;)
There is a run down of the trailer at Empire:
www.empireonline.co.uk/site/news/newsstory.asp?news_id=16748 (http://www.empireonline.co.uk/site/news/newsstory.asp?news_id=16748)
it held this interesting little nugget:
If you think that shots showing the zombies invading the community are spoilerific, well, they’re not – if the zombies didn’t invade, there would be no movie. However, word to the wise – if you slow the trailer down, frame by frame, there is an almighty spoiler in there. And we mean almighty – we’re talking third act stuff here. So by all means watch the trailer, but proceed with caution.
Anyone spotted it?

zombie2005

None of the zombies run, Romero him self stated that be doesn't like running zombies.
Dont be suprised that the zombies gotten smarter. Day of the Dead prove that point with the scientist zombie shooting the gun.
I personally liked the trailer, it paid tribute to the first 3 films. in 2001 an offer was given to romero to make a dvd film for a budget of 5.6 million and romero wanted full control of the movie which they were going to let him have all the gore he wanted, but decided to reject the offer for a theater release of the film and higher budget.
As for the music, romero is not in chrage of the music so he had to go with what ever the person in charge. I dont like the music but if you are a Romero fan and a fan of zombies you would appriate what romero is doing.
The producers are trying to get everone not just Romero fans to see the film and in order to do that sometimes you have do some things different. On his offical web site his wife states there might be a fifth film if LOTD is a hit.
I dont think there are any spoilers on the trailer, as we all know people is living in a walled city were zombies cant get in and they hire mercenaries to help defend there city. Nothing more, I would expect suprises.

Was finally able to watch this on a high speed line, and man - it looks great!! Sure the music was suggestive of RE, but I don't expect GAR to permit a similar musictrack in his movie - its just not his style. I think its just music put in by the marketing firm hired to promote the movie, and trailers often include music not present in the actual film promoted thereby.
But in any case, I really can't wait for 6/24!! (maybe I'll get "624" tatooed on my ass!! :) )

Please DO NOT spoil the movie, I read already one spoiler by accident a few posts above.
I did not read the script and do not plan too, I want to see this movie in theaters and not knowing whats already going to happen.
Whats the point of watching a movie if you already know whats going to happen, whos going to die, and what the ending is going to be.
Spoilers should post a spoilers thread and give warning on it.

That rights! They also used it in that horrible movie called House of the Dead.
You should have thought that they had learned their lesson by now, but oh no they had to bring it back. Its becoming old and cliché just like CGI.
Its time to move on, Nu Metal is thing of the past, and not this decade! Come up with something new and original!
For me overuse of Nu metal and rap music in horror movies kills the atmosphere.

Actually, the music *was* from the RE soundtrack - Marilyn Manson's 'Seizure of Power'.
For those worried about LOTD's musical choices: I've found that most trailer music doesn't speak for the movie itself - the theme from 'Bram Stoker's Dracula' and snippets from 'Last of the Mohicans' have been used in countless trailers - and has anyone heard the terrible stuff being used for 'Kingdom of Heaven'? That flick alone makes my point; who in their right mind would put metal in a movie set in the ancient middle east?
I think most trailers are just synched up with whatever tune is lying around. ::shrugs:: Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Another recent example would be the first trailer for Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy, which 'borrowed' music from both Aliens and Men In Black.

You know I was just at the George Romeo site and in the Chronicles Chris talks about the music composers for the flick. Here is part of it "George insists on being part of all of it to make sure he is getting what he wants. He told me the other day that the composers ,Reinhold Heil and Johnny Climek, were in Toronto showing George the music they have done so far.....and George just loves it" So dont worry about the trailer. Just did a quick search - Reinhold Heil and Johnny Klimek did the music for One Hour Photo (Robin Williams), Run Lola Run, The Princess and the Warrior, Swimming Upstream (Geoffrey Rush), Iron Jawed Angels (Hillary Swank), and episodes of 'Without a Trace'. They also contributed a song to the Matrix: Revolutions soundtrack.
Heil is German and won awards for his fusion jazz albums. He also produced Nena - the girl who sings that '99 Luftballoons' song, and composed Baroque/Renaissance style music for the Berlin Opera.
Klimek is Australian and started off doing techno with the likes of Paul Van Dyk.
Even though I've never heard any of the pair's music, they sound experienced and versatile enough for me to look forward to their efforts in LOTD.

If it turns out true that GAR was forced to take out stuff FROM HIS OWN MOVIES it is kind of cute.
Still means he has absolutely no idea about the business of movies. And, thats a good thing.
Mind you, i wonder if he had anything whatsoever to do with compiling footage for the trailer. That would be beneath a director, wouldnt it? Probably would be Universal's P.R. machine.
Either way, cool stuff up.

I mean the trailer is missing the 'Dawn' and the 'Day' sequence that had been it and is not out because of copyright infringement. I get ya, goesaround. In the script for LAND, the movie starts with a black screen. Then, we hear the t.v. announcements from Night and Dawn ( i am pretty sure no quotes were from Day). What goesaround means is, they wont be able to use the quotes from Dawn in LAND.
Personally, i dont care. I think the film should start with the glossy t.v. ad for Fiddlers Green. Interspersed with the "spiel" about how luxurious FIddlers is, they should show the abandoned towns and rubbish strewn streets.
Then, right at the end of the ad for Fiddlers, say the announcer says, "So, come and live in absolute secure comfort and luxury - At Fiddlers Green apartments" - then straight cut to a long shot of the teeming thousands of zombies gathered outside the walls.
Or, maybe a close up of a really cool make-up FX zombie, ala "Dr. Tongue" from Day.
Quinn
05-02-2005, 11:33 PM
If you look at the screen capture of Simon Baker aboard the dead reckoning when it is traveling at some speed at horror of zombies website the special fx and Baker look really silly. I am glad that it moves a little faster in the film.
Have a good day
Quinn.
ps:I like corgi opening, however I would intercut the fiddlers green comercial with news casts of the outbreak and like Corgi said the reality of the sitution that faces them. All that Romero would have to do is change dialogue and get a diffrent set of reporters. se lave (is that the correct spelling?)

Thx for the orginal trailer Horror, also that is great that you edited after reading (mucho responsible) which is more than I can say about my blunder. Also the fast editing remark I hope that is not in response to my post, because if it is I did not mean it in that way. In fact I agree with you 100%, also on the day commentary Roger Avary gives Romero compliments on his camera work and how it uses the axis of the camera very well.

They're calling it the UNSEEN trailer...here it is...

I think you find that there is a link to this on the official thread John. The powers that be are trying to keep all the Lotd stuff together otherwise this section will get clagged up in the coming weeks.
Saying that though it is a much better trailer than the original one. It shows that GAR is still a goremeister as well as a fine director.

Well, look at that.... Your thread got transferred to the Land Trailer thread.
Maybe they should make this thread a sticky.

I still can't get it to play the Big Daddy trailer... :-(
I guess I'll have to settle for the large one.

Maybe it's just so damn popular.
It was nice, however, to see Asia Argento kicking some ass.
