Hey all,
Been a little while since I've posted, but I'm back with some excellent news that I didn't want to break 'til it was definite. This fall, we at Ghost Ship Films (http://ghostshipfilms.com)will be producing the first weekly zombie series, The Deadlands. Deadlands will follow a band of survivors in a world plagued by the walking dead, as they battle the ever-growing zombie horde and the ruthless gangs of outlaws roaming the savage landscape of what was once America.
The 13-episode series, created by George (The Burning Dead) Demick, and produced by Frank (The Shelter) Fox, will shoot this fall for broadcast next year; we're in negotiations with several interested networks, but we won't announce who will carry the show (or what other surprise zombie-friendly names are involved  ) until deals are finalized.
However, yours truly will be bringing all you zombie fans the scoop on the project the whole way through, so you guys will get first look at all the grisly goings-on. As soon as I get them in my hands, I'll post some pics (and maybe some footage if possible) from the promo reel we produced for the show soon, and I'll announce more news as it happens. Until then, keep your eyes & your victims peeled for more from The Deadlands!

Is this supposed to be based on the Deadlands zombie RPG? It sounds too similar to be a coincidence!

I like this idea a lot. http://members.aol.com/BADZOMBIENIGHT/Thumbsup.gif
If the deal goes through, we would have a Zombie series that we can debate here every week, after each episode. http://members.aol.com/BADZOMBIENIGHT/argue2.gif http://members.aol.com/BADZOMBIENIGHT/cheers.gif
Great RS! Please drop in, from time to time, and keep us posted.

Hey...the more zombies the merrier! Maybe we can get some of you guys under the makeup  . And no, this is not based on the Deadlands RPG; in fact George had not even heard of it when he wrote the script, its just a cool title.

I'll keep my fingers crossed on this one. However; Are you sure about the 13 episodes? Don't you need to make a pilot first?

Well, the response to the script & our promo reel has been positive enough that we've already raised 90% of the money for the full 13, so I'd say the show is pretty much a given; only thing up in the air right now is who will end up airing it, which is something we won't announce 'til its set in stone.
Of course, this is the TV business & anything could happen, but right now we're extremely confident about the show & are moving full-speed ahead....so, cross your fingers! :drinking:

Can I get an Amen, my zombie brethren !?
Oooh. Oh. I think I just peed my pants. Nope, it was just a trickle. I can't wait for more info. This is what tv needs, a weekly horror show. Lets be honest, there aren't any real horror shows out there. If I can take a guess that if you are shootin in HD then it is got to be a high end cable network.
(Buffy, Angel, and Charmed don't count. They are about as real as Strawberry Shortcake.)

Super news. Good luck with that. Do you guys need any help with publicity? I know a few folks I could put on to you.
Do you know where you are goign to be filming the episodes?
I know I'd love to come by and do a cameo as a zombie if such an opportunity arises.
Keep us updated.

The publicity machine proper won't start up for a while yet, but when it does, I'll certainly point you to the right folks. At least 75% of the episodes will be filmed here in TN, and I'm quite sure we'll need zombie (and other) extras, so when the time comes I'll post the info here for any who want to try and make it.
The response we get from putting the feelers out there to fans like you guys will surley be a factor when the network negotiations get to the final table, so thank you guys for all your enthusiasm so far, and lets show 'em that TV needs a new horror show, and that the fans are as hungry as the zombies!

Hey guys,
I managed to get a couple of images from the Deadlands promo video that we've used to show to investors; they're not much, and probably not too representative of what the final product will look like, but its somethin', and it'll give you an early peek at what we're in store for....

I wanted to post the whole video, but turns out these images will likely be the only look the publc gets from this early promo, as we're doing a larger-scale trailer later in the year. Next to come in the following months, I'll post some concept art & maybe some storyboard images as things start to get rolling.
Thanks also to everybody who came out to see us at the Nashville Full Moon Horror con last weekend; we had a great time being there & it was great to meet you all!
.....More to come!

Sounds cool, I'm hoping it ends up on Fox, they let 24 get away with alot, so hopefully they can get this one...I'd like HBO, but...yeah, I don't have it anymore, so I guess I'm hoping for something us regular people can get to.

I know you don't want to give it away but I found this today. It was posted last year and sounds sooooooooo similar. Please let it be Kirkman's baby.
Sean: While we’re on the subject of Hollywood, any television or movie potential for The Walking Dead? I mean every comic book property under the sun is in “pre-production” right now, but anything serious going on?
Robert: A lot of people are announcing. A lot of people in comics are announcing that they have a producer, and that they’re shopping their thing around as an option. If that’s the case, then I’ve gotten at least that far. There actually is a director that’s attached that wants to put it together as a television show. Whether or not that happens is up in the air. I mean, as far as I understand it and as far as my manager tells me, somebody has committed to fund it. A director is attached. A producer is attached. A writer is working on a story-bible, and they are trying to talk to networks now. So…it’s looking pretty good as far as I know. But I’m a guy from Kentucky who doesn’t know shit about Hollywood, so what do I know. (laughter)
As far as I know, it looks good it looks good. I’m excited. But, we’ll see - and the people involved really like the comic. From what I’ve heard if the television show does happen it’s going to be very close to what the comic is.
Come on there is a prison, zombies, and The midSouth. Let it be my Captian, Krikman. Here is the link to the rest of the interview www.chud.com/news/mar04/mar22comics.php3

My friend ( a film student ) is gonna flip when she hears about this.
Are you still looking for crewmembers?
Perhaps you could partner up with ATZ to have a contest where the the winner gets a walk-on role....
Im so psyched!!! Thank you!

He isn't going to tell us and get us hiped up. Then we will find out it is going to be on UPN, BET or some other crap network. Just kidding but he definately won't tell. If he breaks it too early then the network might pull out.(I am right, right?)

That would be cool if it was on Sci-Fi. Between Sliders, Ghost Hunters, and Deadlands, i would never change the channel. Though, sci-fi has a way of heavily influencing the productions, and usually not in a good way...

Hi well Im new...and I am a zombie lover (not a necropheliac...) I am fifteen and I do have my own arsenal of weapons...more than some adults have (so dont discourage me because I am 15.) I read about this show and well if you could get a spot for me on set as either a zombie, a victim or whatever else needed that would be awesome. just wanted to introduce my self with little irrelevance from the main topic as possible, yet I also wanted to state that I would like to be on your show.

I was flippin through tv Saturday and found a show called Deadlands on Sci-fi channel. It was a post apocalyptic movie with radiation infected people who became mutant cannibals. The lighting was done in shades of red. I know this isn't the show, but does affect the name of your show coming out?

Coincidence? Read the book...
Anyway, this sound like a lot a fun. I don't get cable so I'll end up having to have a friend record all of it. Let's hope this doesn't make The Walking Dead less likely to make it into production.

id recommend going to showtime/HBO/another channel that you have to pay for. cause thanks to our good friends at the fcc would have a coniption fit about having excessive blood and whatever else you are going to put in it that wouldnt be considered "not safe" (says safe in a sarcastic tone). as we all know the violence on news programs (more sarcastic tone talk) like a bloody guy falling of a building or showing a terrorist attack and seeing the bodies everywhere is perfectly ok to the fcc to show. then they allow the showing of annoying politicans (both repulican politicans AND democrat politicans Im not saving my blows for any specific group... both groups are increasingly annoying) but I hope only luck for your show and just tell us when to expect it on air and you have at least the whole of this group to be watching.
