Can't wait! I had also pictured Fankie differently. For some reson I had thought she would be chunkier.

lmao thanks guys! Actually, that Frankie sketch is tentative. We'll probably begin with major character designs in a week or two. I'll continue to post more as time goes on. Plus, we'll be making all of the collected sketchwork for this series a limited download over at Brian Keene's site.

Most of all, I'm thrilled to hear that Keene will by handling the writing. As long as the artwork doesn't have an "Adventures of..." style I'm sure Ill love it.

Thanks for the continued support, gang. As for the art, I dig the cartoony style. Kind of like the new Army of Darkness comic. But IG will offer variant covers, so you'll have plenty of different styles to choose from.

I'm so glad that this will be made.
I really enjoyed the book, and am eagerly awaiting the next one. However, I do have to agree with Doc about the art. I am not convinced that the artist has developed to a point that he could do your story justice. The single style he demonstrates is without character, or expression. The postures are stiff and basic, the lines are too simple and clean.
I urge you to reconsider and seek out a more expressive artist. Someone like IDW artist Eric Red (http://www.silverbulletcomicbooks.com/news/images/0410/containmentpage13.jpg) would be appropriate.
I am familiar with the Army Of Darkness comic. Nick Bradshaw (AOD artist) (http://www.nickbradshaw.com/galleries/evildead/evildead21.jpg) is a professional. He does excellent work with scene compostion and sequentials. His style is cartoony, but those abstractions are based on a more keen observation of nature. I wouldn't be so bold to compare Bradshaw to the currently selected artist.

I truly appreciate feedback but in all honesty if we were to seek out artists who have done this popular zombie comic or that popular zombie style art we'd be offering nothing new.
The illustrator who provided the work above has been replaced due to commitment issues. The new illustrators work will be featured in the upcoming March issue of Rue Morgue Magazine.
Thanks for replying guys! This is going to be an awesome project!

I don't believe there is any feasable way I could be convinced that the previously posted artist's example could be described as something new. What is new about it?
Is it possible to maybe find something appropriate, or something as interesting as Keene's work?
I'm eager to know who's taking over!

 Seeing as how there's no feasible way you could be convinced of something, there's really no need for me to elaborate any further on what I meant by "new".
I'm really not trying to be antagonistic when I say this but you don't seem to have a wonderful grasp on the complexities of the independent comic scene. That's fine though, not everybody can be expected to. Lemme just say that we all do our best and make do with what we have and we plan to bring "The Rising" and Brian Keene fans the best damn "The Rising" we can.
As to your anticipation regarding the new illustrator, his name is Zac Atkinson. He currently colors for DC. Great guy. He's already finished 3 new promo sketches for this project. I'll post one up later today. The rest will be previewed in the March issue of Rue Morgue.
Thanks for the feedback man. We listen to and consider each and every fan and their comments.

I apologize if I was antagonistic. I would have bought (and will buy) the comic anyways! You don't need some stranger messing things up before you get started! :)
I am a bit familiar with independent comics. It's a big crapshoot. Even new titles launching from DC and Marvel have a very tough time finding a readership, considering the current appetite for comics is dwindling and getting even more narrow with its expectations. Word of mouth is the most prevalent way to raise comic sales, and I'd hate to negatively affect yours!
You're looking at a customer base that is very resistant to new ideas, likes their comics in color (manga being the major exception and also the major moneymaker with no signs of stopping), likes their art as basic and Maxim Magazine-like in quality. Which would justify the first artist choice!
I feel somewhat protective of Keene's book, and want it to be the best it can be! That way I can recommend it 100%, and be proud to do so. Keene's book read dark and chilling to me, and the initial style, albeit is more accesible, didn't effectively capture that energy. IMHO, he needs more time to practice.
I realize you may not have the widest selection of talent available, but I think the new artist has a very interesting style. I checked his portfoilio, and think you have someone better suited to tell the tale!
