Has anyone read Dark Horse's Zombie World series'?

Well I have and I thought they were pretty decent.

The best Mini-Series was Winter's Dregs, I thought, and I wanted to let you know that I just found someone selling them online for riduclously cheap (http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6503460999&ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:CA:1).

Champion of Worms (http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=3979&item=6503003243&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW) was pretty good too, but I'd suggest avoiding Tree Of Death!

There is a common story that runs through all the mini-series, but each series is great independantly.

YES! those are great, aren't they! What I really like about Zombie World, is two-fold:

1) Like HellBoy and the BPRD (DarkHorse comic series), they have mini-series, one after the other. They have a continuous storyline that you can watch evolve, or you can just enjoy the mini-series. It's like The Walking Dead's story arcs, only each arc concludes the mini-series.

2) The world that Zombie World takes place in, from series to series, ranges from the standard zombie apocolypse, like what we've seen thus far in The Walking Dead, to the paranormal, demonic dimension seen in DeadWorld.

I got Champion of Worms in trade paperback a few months back and enjoyed it. Which series is the next in line, Tree of Death or Winter's Dregs? Just asking before I buy because CoW definately had a "... to be continued" ending.

It went:

Champion of the Worms-3 issues
Home for the Holidays- 1 issue
Dead End- 2 issues
Eat Your Heart Out- 1 issue
Winter Dregs- 4 issues
Tree of Death- 4 issues

haven't read either Tree of Death or Eat Your Heart Out but Champion of the Worms was great as was Home for the Holidays and Dead End. Couldn't get into winter's Dregs for some reason. Could have been the artwork, it was too dark if I recall...

Good news for those of you who don't have any Zombie World!

You can scoot over to eBay and pick up a whole pack of them.

ZW was my favorite zomic ever...it was more consistanly good than the overall champion (DeadWorld) in several ways that, for me, made it the perfect zombie comic read. And I actually really liked Tree of Death. Go Figure.
The sad thing is, there was another two-parter entitled EarthFall, that never got released. From the Home for the Holidays team, it revolved around the first manned mission to Mars returning home...post Zombie World. Sounds to me like it would've been great. I actually started a script based on Champion of the Worms, but when I realized that, at 95 pages, I STILL hadn't got out of the events of issue 1, I might be putting a little too much into it, and took a break. And for the record, Azzul Gotha: favorite zombie villian EVER.
I tried to start a demand for a ZW resurrection on the Dark Horse boards, but NO freakin'-ONE responded. Say Awfulman, would you be interested in taking up the torch with me? The return of DeadWorld proved that anything is possible, and all they'd really have to do is change the blanket name for the series from ZW to Champion of the Worms, and they could pick right back up. You with me?

Tree of Death? :x That's totally fine, my favorite was 'Winter's Dregs' which I think happens to be the least popular one. The only Dark Horse title I read is the B.P.R.D., and the last mini-series they made called 'B.P.R.D. The Dead' was rather disappointing. I managed to pick up all the other B.P.R.D./Hellboy series and was quite impressed. Especially with Guy Davis, who you'll probably remember from The Realm and Baker Street etc.

I am surprized Dark Horse hasn't tried to capitalize on their Zombie World series since The Walking Dead has become so popular; what the little heck ARE they making?

I'll sign up on their board and do what I can to literally beg for them to continue developing that series. It might be good if other fans of the Zombie World series here at ATZ to also join up, and post a message about it, if you're hip. Because, if you don't, then you're just not hip anymore.

You're right!

It's a must have! There's a few books that have either come out or are coming out soon. You can get them here:

You can see a preview of my favorite mini-series included in the Winter's Dregs book; here's a preview http://www.darkhorse.com/profile/preview.php?theid=10-668

I've got the originals off eBay - but I'm a such a sucker I'm going to have to get these too! :x

I think the newer Champion of Worms has some extra sketches or something.
