I can't wait for this to come out on DVD. Would love to see it on Blu Ray, but that might be asking for too much.

Dead Set Serious is one of the best Fan Edits you can get online. It's incredible.

The Dead Set dvd is region-free and can be bought from amazon.co.uk.
As far as I know, there's no plans for a US release.

Yep the guy's right, region free glory. Makes me feel sad you guys waited a year when you could have had it all this time.

I was tempted to watch that version without the laughs, but decided to watch the original one again last week. I simply confirmed what a great show it was. There's a Directors Cut apparently.

i just saw this series and it was AAAWWESSOOMME!!!
very cool of the uk big brother people to play themselves in something where they get eaten by zombies. zombie davina was very cool. i'd like to see gretel killeen (australian BB host) do something as cool as this. she'd probably look down her nose at it and say it's disgusting or something

I was fortunate enough to have a friend in the UK transfer the video files of every episode to me so I could burn it onto a DVD myself. The quality isn't exactly DVD-crystal-clear, but it's still great to watch because it's such a great story! I could possibly make a copy for anyone, if you are interested PM me and I'll see what I can do.

Sounds more like a faulty disk. Give it a wipe and try again.

disk wasn't faulty. my co-workers looked at it, and its in a PAL format and my DVD player isn't. Theyv'e tried to convert the DVD to a disk that will play, but no luck.

Ah. What you need is a PAL to NTSC converter. Google and you'll find both hardware and software solutions. DVDSanta is cheap and does the trick if you're a Windows user (I'm told, I'm strictly a Mac).

Of course, you could buy a new region and encoding free DVD player, and then you'd have access to more uncut stuff from the rest of the world, such as Embodiment of Evil, the new Coffin Joe film from Brazil, which I watched last night and whose imagery is still bouncing around in my head this morning. :-)

For around 50-60 donuts you can buy an all region player. You will not have one in any domestic store. :x I've tried....The one that I have is a "chipped" player and works great. I have zero complaints!! :drinking:

"Region" has nothing to do with whether the disc is PAL or NTSC, really.
PAL and NTSC are two totally different, incompatible video formats, using different scan frequencies and number of scan lines to display the picture onscreen. (much like US power grid is 60Hz, Europe is 50Hz)
"Region" has only to do with the DVD itself - a form of copy/play protection.
You need a PAL-NTSC converter of sorts, either a hardware solution or a software solution, but an all region DVD player isn't going to make a dent of difference.
(I scarfed it from Usenet as avi files, and converted it with Nero when I burnt it the eps to separate VCDs)

Oh yes, very true. My all dvd player plays any format. I made sure of that. :drinking:

Well yes, but you can get multisystem DVD players these days that play both PAL and NTSC as well as being region free.

The stars of this show are not actors, but the participants of the reality show? I am unfamiliar with the UK Big Brother, so I wanted to clarify. Can they act?

A couple have very small roles, is all. The cast is largely up and coming British actors such as Jaime Winstone.

Hello all my first post  . First i have to say i loved Dead Set . Recorded it on the sky+ and left it sat on the hard drive for about 2 weeks before watching it LOL . When i did start watching i wasn't expecting much to be honest but was really suprised and now its down to around £5.99 (HMV uk website if you are interested !)i have ordered a copy. Kind of curious about this whole DVD not playing thing ! . If it was a region issue the machine would say it on screen ' DVD region incorrect' or something simaler. As for the PAL/NTSC thing well.... its the machine that makes the video output PAL/NTSC/SECAM not the disc !!!. DVD is just MPEG-2 (world standard for DVD) digitally encoded then the electronics in the DVD player makes that desision for converting to PAL/NTSC/SECAM depending on what you have selected in your DVD player settings ( in the UK most machines have this NTSC/PAL ability but not sure about the U.S) . If this wasn't the case you could just output in RGB which is not NTSC or PAL so would get around this. It sounds like a chap said earlier that it is either a dirty disc or a faulty one. It is also possible it could be a dirty/ faulty laser :puke: on the DVD player . I used to be a T.V engineer so have seen this quite a few times where a player will play some discs and not others . Clean the laser and BINGO all discs will play . May be worth a go . Hope this isn't to rambling, Gezzzz thats a long 1st post LOLOL

Charlie Brooker says Dead Set is due to be broadcast in Australia on SBS One on 9th Nov at 10pm.
And the new DVD is Region 2 only, so get the old version from Amazon.co.uk if this is a problem.

Its a Region 0 DVD, but my player/TV will not play a PAL disk. My brother is now trying to find a way to convert the disk to a NTSC copy . He's a computer nerd and is good at stuff like that.

We all know how easy it is to steal, but I'd like to think there's at least a few people here who understand the difference between right and wrong.

Dead Set is supposed to be coming to the US very soon, certainly with a DVD release and possibly on cable or whatever you chaps have over there. :-)

It was broadcast on a free-to-air channel in the UK, not elsewhere. If you watch it on anything other than a Channel 4 site or a site that has an agreement with Channel 4 to host the content, it's illegal.
Downloading it from a bit-torrent site is obviously breaking the law.
