Return of the Living Dead 3 is Twilight meets Pet Sematary.

Now this is a nifty and original zombie movie that manages to be an improvement over part 2 which was a rehash of the brilliant original. I'd consider this one to be a cross between "Twilight" (Similar tragic undead love story) and "Pet Sematary" (Similar concept about bringing a beloved person back from the dead as he or she doesn't come back the same but as a mad zombie).

There's also a strong sadomasochist theme, which makes it quite a dark little film in its own way.

It is my 2nd favorite of the series, i see it as kinda an extension of the couple in the 1st film. Another good film that uses this storyline is Zombie Honeymoon.:)

I could never get into this movie, I loved the first 2 back in the day, then I remember seeing this on cable TV and thinking wth? this is a zombie movie? a chick thats alll pierced up and some big guy whos head starts floating around on his spine? never could get into it. it also didnt help that they took out nearly all of the comedy that seperated the first 2 from other zombie movies and made them what they are. it always just felt like someone went out and made some random horror movie with a few zombies in it and decided to slap on the return of the living dead title to hopefully bring in a few extra bucks through name association like day of the dead 2 did.

to be fair though i havent really tried to give it another watch in the last 5 - 10 years either which perhaps I should do .

but as it stands now I agree this movie was the beginning of the end for the series .
