View Full Version : The worst of the worst Zombie films

Earlier today I nearly had to gouge out my own eyes from watching one of the lamest "zombie" movies I have ever seen, "Automaton Transfusion." By the end of that film, it became incredibly obvious that the director wanted to make a senseless gore movie with no plot. Unfortunately he had to dirty up my favorite movie genre to do so. I have only seen one zombie film worse then this one, and that was "Zombie Diaries." I can't believe some directors can make such dreck, and think it's worth other people to have to painfully sit through watching it. What do you guys think are the worst zombie flicks made?

Whatever they are, 'The Zombie Diaries' certainly isn't one of them.

There are two classes of bad zombie films. Some of them are cheese for cheese sakes, and the others are the 'serious' ones. The only movies I dislike are the 'serious' cheese ball flicks. Stuff like Day of the Dead 2008.

"Return of the Living Dead?" I'm not a big fan of those flicks either.

Zombie Diaries is definitely pretty good. Automaton Transfusion was OK at best.

As far as ones I really didn't like - Dead Men Walking and Dead and Deader I remember being pretty miserable while watching them.

You actually rate "Zombie Diaries" as the worst zombie film ever, seriously you think Zombie Diaries is the worst? have you seen Platoon of the dead? House of the Dead? Day of the Dead 2, Zombie nation?, I could continue this list but you've got some dvd's to rent if you want to experience true disappointment..I didn't really like Zombie Diaries, but I could at least watch the film without hurling a 2 liter of Pepsi at the TV screen like i did halfway through Platoon of the dead........ and yes, before ask, it did explode...

I can't believe no one has mentioned either Gangs of the Dead, Dead Heist or Doomed as the worst zombie movies ever! They were all extremely bad, even to my standards; and I think House of the Dead, Automation Transfusion and Zombie Diaries are good!

Doomed (not to be confused with Doom, starring The Rock, which I liked) had every single aspect of the movie be utter crap. I saw the plot and thought it would be good (maybe like The Condemed with zombies), and I am still kicking myself! Bad acting, crappy camera work, horrible special efects, dumb characters, VERY low gore, lack of any good zombie kills, no decent character development, lame story, dumb beginning, horrible middle and one of the worst endings ever! I have VERY much more to say about this cinematic equivalent of amebic dissentary, but I have to save time for the other turd zombie films.

Dead Heist was something I already knew would be bad. The entire cast was consisted of either rappers or actors with rapper names (bad sign), the zombies sucked blood (really bad sign), they could only be killed in the heart (is this even a zombie film anymore?!?), and they had a special agent in the mix of "ghetto" bank robbers to help them kill the things (I refuse to call them zombies anymore). I didn't even wait for the ending because it was so stupid!

And last (and least), Gangs of the Dead was in simplest terms, black stereotypes, latino stereotypes and a white stereotype in a warehouse with zombies outside (caused by a meteor nontheless!). Did the writers of this failed abortion of a movie consist of people with the understanding of other ethnicities and races equal (if not less) to KKK members? This movie makes Dave Chapelle and Dogg the Bounty Hunter look like PBS acceptance spokesmen! Plus the story was shit, the ending was predictably lame, and the characters were so annyoing I wanted to kill them myself (especially the black girl in that movie. Was she an 18 year old attempting to act like a 5 year old, or was she just mentally challenged?)!

I'm usually not this mad about movies, but I just wanted to state some other nominees for the worst of worst zombie films.

You've got a point but I have to admit I was so dissappointed by The Zombie Diaries and it was the first film that came to mind when I saw the thread title.

I saw this in Asda and the cover looked awesome! A horde of zombies filling the streets of london and survivors wielding shotguns ready to take them on!! I ean come on? Who wouldn't buy that?! I just felt really cheated that the film - as well as being really poor on its own - had nothing to do with the cover.

But like I said, you make a good point as I did manage to sit all the way through it but whether that was because I had paid money for it and felt obliged to or it did keep my attention on some level is debatable.

When I was talking worst zombie movies ever, I was comparing how much hype the movie had going together with how bad the movie was. That is why I placed Transfusion and Zom Diaries as 2 of the worst.

Automaton Transfusion looked like it could be a sweet movie. But in that film we learned an important lesson. If you are being chased by a horde of zombies, all you need to do is close a door, and they will all magically disappear. That is until you walk out of another door, where there will be none around you, until they suddenly are surrounding you. I cannot say enough bad things about this film.

Zombie Diaries also had a lot of promise on it's cover. But watching the movie was like taking a math test. You really had to concentrate on what was going on to follow any of the plot(and I use that word loosely). That movie had more scenes of the grass then Blair Witch Project. Throw in that you can rarely understand the people speaking, and that they bounced from scene to scene with very little transition. It was more a mind-rape then a movie. I think I was most excited for this film because Diary of the dead was so good, but to watch this film was as painful an experience as removing fingernails.

But yes there are worse zombie movies out there. I hated return of the living dead. Talking zombies that cannot be killed? /yawn. And Zombie Holocaust, was another lame flick, as was Flesh Eater. But I didn't buy those movies expecting much out of them.

Day of the Dead 2: Contagium was terrible and so was Zombie Chronicles 3D.
There is another I watched 5 years ago, but I don't remember the title. It was an urban zombie theme, set in a truck yard. Most of the cast were black. (please don't play the race card)
Anyway, it was so low budget and the cameras rarley left the yard. If anyone knows this film, let me and others know the title, so they can stay away from it.

I agree with you, your reply is fair and your explanation of how you first saw the cover opened my eyes to how you must have felt...zombie diaries was bad and comparing it to house of the dead or day of the dead 2 is like debating which is better, apples or oranges in a bowl that's been sitting in the sun for 2 weeks, They all stink ..I do thank you for being such a gentleman and articulating you experience with Zombie dairies so well, please accept my apology if i sounded to harsh.Thank you for opening my eyes to the larger picture then just my own experience.

The dvd cover of The Zombie Diaries wasn't representative of the film. You could blame the distributors, but then if such a hokey ploy didn't work they wouldn't do it.

I was really disappointed with:

- Flight of the Living Dead (god-awful piece of horseshit, nothing redeeming)
- Evil (everything is blamed on it being "low budget," but I think it just sucked)
- Zombie Lake
- Return of the Living Dead 4 and 5 (which sucks, because Necropolis had a fair budget)
- Redneck Zombies (Troma, I get it, but they didn't make it, they just purchased it from some broke filmmaker who wanted his POS distributed)
- Dead Life (you couldn't SEE anything!)

I have a lot of zombie flicks, so I'm sure a few more will come to mind.

I'm shocked that people didn't like Return of the Living Dead. I thought it was a really silly flick. Loooots of fun. (But I suppose not everyone would enjoy it.)

Zombie Nation gets my vote. I feel strongly about slapping Ulli Lommel in the face.

I forgot all about that piece of shit. For a very low-budget movie, the introduction with the police officer was engaging. I paid attention. Then, it went to rituals and BS and I only gave it any more of my time because I was waiting for legion upon legion (IE, a nation's worth) of undead. Turns out, there were 4. Maybe 5? **** you, Lommel.

LMAO! It's funny because I totally relate. I was way into it at the begining. I should have turned it off when I got that horrible sense of a trash movie. :-( Lommel took something from me that I'll never get back.

I would rather watch Keanu Reeves in a romantic comedy or watch Sandra Bullock shaving her Adam's apple than watch Australia's The Undead or House of the Dead again. Even Clint Howard and t n' a couldn't save House of the Dead. In regard to The Undead, I think mad props are due to Paul Hogan for NOT being involved with this koala turd of a zombie movie.

Oh! And Troma's Wiseguys vs. Zombies was pretty wretched, too.

Gangs of the Dead was OK. It had some decent acting, though the script was dumb. Yes, very ethnic and stereotypical, but I can overlook that, because it's an honest zombie movie that tries to entertain.

The all time worst zombie movie is Zombiez. Two and three worst are Dead Clowns and Zombie Nation.

I don’t mind that anyone can grab a video camera and a few friends and make a zombie “movie”. I do mind that a distributor will sell it in a case with a professional cover, which typically is better than the whole movie, and usually looks nothing like the actual movie. It’s false advertising.
