Well I thought I saw a thread about this a while back but I cant find it for the life of me so heres a new one.
I just finished this book a couple days ago and I must say I do believe this is one of the best King books I have ever read. If you havent read this book I suggest you get to it. The opening chapter is epic...
Anyone else a fan of this wonderful book?

Never finished it...It kind of lost steam around halfway through and a bunch of stuff came up...But it does have a fantastic opening.

I had the same trouble, the story just seemed to lag in the middle I couldn't finish it but I might pick it up later.

Nice read. Didn't really do "it" for me but it was a well written and pretty intense (at times) story. Felt it was a little too similiar to The Rising for my liking but it still worked.

Strong opening, and intense moments, but it felt like it could have been much better if he had kept the pace.

I started reading it, but I put it down and haven't had a chance to start reading it again.

I liked it up to the ending. Then it seemed King didn't know how to end it, and the result was disappointing.

I have the book, and I also think the opening is awesome; however, the story lost it's intensity by the middle with all the "supernatural" happenings with the zombie-like threats. I still thought it was a good book, but really dissapointing compared to masterpieces like The Stand, Misery, Salem's Lot & even the Bachman stories.

Those are my exact feelings on the book. I read quite a bit of the beginning in one day, but as it slowed down it became my bathroom reader and took nearly a month to finish.

Wow for a Stephen King book I though it kept its steam pretty damn well...
Agreed, the breakout scene was so vivid, I could literally visualise the locations. I wonder if, King does any of his location scouting here in, Vancouver. For the movie adaption,I hope the director has some serious skills 'cause when the movie comes out the breakout scene will have serious potential.
There is suppose to be a movie coming out, yeah?

Apparently this is going to be a TV Miniseries.

This report comes from the usually-reliable folks over at Ain't It Cool News (http://www.aintitcool.com/node/41684):
Mike Harrison, who wrote and directed the 2000 “Dune” miniseries for SciFi, tells Fangoria he’s now working on a four-hour miniseries adaptation of Stephen King’s 2006 novel “Cell” for the Weinstein Company.
Which means, I guess, that “Hostel” mastermind Eli Roth is no longer working on a feature version.
Harrison, first assistant director on George Romero’s King-scripted 1982 anthology feature “Creepshow,” went on to write and direct numerous episodes of anthology shows like “Tales From The Darkside,” “Tales From The Crypt” and “Monsters.”
Harrison also directed 1990’s “Tales From The Darkside: The Movie,” based in part on King’s short story “Cat From Hell.”
No word on which channel may end up airing the project.
Find all of Fangoria’s story on the matter here (http://fangoria.com/home/news/9-film-news/3203-stephen-kings-cell-will-now-ring-as-tv-miniseries.html).

This is the reason Harrison backed out of doing the "....Of the dead" soundtrack.

IMHO the book was good, but not great! I agree with everyone about the ending not being good.

i think the idea of the book was pretty ingenius and it worked on one of those "b-movie" levels.

About the 3rd thread for this book.. advanced search.
I thought the book was bad. Every character was paper thin and the action tried to hard to be.. actiony?

I thought it was decent enough. Yeah, it did get slow in the middle; yeah the ending seemed like he didn't know what to do with it. But dang, for a SK book, it did do a good job with not slowing things down to a snail's pace. I take Cell as an experimental work; maybe something along the lines of Bachman. King did it just to see if he could do it. Did he 'do it' with Cell? Yes, I think he did.

Eli Roth has expressed a lot of interest in directing a film adaptation of Cell.

I actually listened to the audiobook at work.
I liked it, and have listend to it a few times (again at work). I think its one of kings better books, although it dargs in places. The odd death in it helps though. I'd like to see a film of it.
I read it, but it was one of the rare times it took me about a month to read a book.
Read the first half quite quickly, but after that it really bogged down, then raised itself back up to average for the rest of the novel.
This is far from King's best novel IMO, IT, The Shining, and Salems Lot, are miles above this.

For a King novel, I was a little disappointed, as I have been with most of his recent works. I actually liked Dreamcatcher better, and if you've read this beast of a book, you know that's saying something. It does follow the SK guidelines though, the beginning is interesting enough to pull you in, then about halfway through the rambling starts and theres no going back. As a footnote, if your a fan of King's works, try reading the Dark Tower series, its 7 books and stupid long, but it's the most amazing series i've ever buried my nose in.
I read the book & listened to the audiobook and suffice to say, the audiobook was the best! With the audiobook version, It was easier to visualize the scenes in comparison to reading it.
I was angered by the ending though :x
