What is your favorite general horror movie, thats modern.

Ive recently come to really love House of 1000 Corpses, kinda suprised myself that I enjoy it as much as I do. Plus Sheri Moon is just damn fine.

Audition: The suspense and build up in the movie is fantastic, would have been better if i hadn't read what it was about, people easily mistake it for a simple romance movie.

Imprint: I didn't like it at first but after watching it with people it really showed how sick and twisted the movie is. I need to see the other movies in the Masters of Horror series, the ones that weren't banned from TV.

I also really enjoy the SAW series.

Yes, I believe it is a zombie movie.

My favorite would have to be The Mist, which is honestly the best movie based on a Stephen King story. The gore and monsters looked really cool (a bit too CGI for my tastes, but still cool), and the acting was nothing less of brilliant. I'm suprised that Marsha Gay Harden didn't get an Oscar for her role as the uber-religious sacrificial nutjob. And the ending, while extremely messed up, was by far the best example of horror I have ever seen.

I also liked the remakes of Texas Chainsaw Massacre (as well as TCM: The Beginning), The Hills Have Eyes, Halloween and Friday the Thirteenth.

Blair Witch and The Ring

Hold on before you start to flamethrow....

Blair Witch was a great movie considering the lower budget. Compare it to what Hollywood gives, like House of Wax. It was a novel idea that I thought worked well, and it is the only film I've seen that has succeeded in the mockumentary genre. Compare it to Diary. And it was genuinely creepy. I love the end, where she's going through the house looking for Mike and you see everything from her POV, but the screaming is so far away because it's his camera recording it. Very unsettling.

The Ring was another movie that worked for me because it was creepy. It had cool imagery and a cool mystery. Again, way better than most of the stuff Hollywood puts out. When I saw her come out of the TV, I actaully said "OK, this is too much. Outta the TV? C'mon". The after I went to bed I told my wife "If that TV turns on, you're on your own"

I enjoy the saw series as well.

Compared to franchises like Nightmare On Elm Street, Friday The 13th etc they follow cannon and have a decent story.

my favorite modern non zombie horror movie, actually thats a pretty easy one, for me one jumps right to mind, not sure if its because its something a little bit different or what but it has to be . . .

I just loved the whole premis of this movie, the characters were all great , the acting was good ( the guy playing leslie was great ) , the whole set up of the movie, then the way the movie just takes a left turn 2/3 of the way through and goes from being one thing into being something totally different.

this is actually probally one of my all time favorite horror movies now, love it.
