Which return of the living dead is your favorite? and why?
Only asking cos I saw the first one on friday on Sky, and I hadnt seen it in that long, I had forgotten it. I still prefer part 2 the best though, as it had the Michael Jackson thriller spoof in it......

I really like number 3. I think it's cause it was the first one of the series I saw and possibly one of the first zombie movies I ever saw. It's got great horror and great comedy.

I prefer 3 over the rest. But the problem is this, I hate zeds that only eat brains!!! :poo: I can't believe that any self respecting zombie would leave a perfectly good body behind untouched! :x In my opinion, Bub is the only true zombie to talk...

1, 3, 2, 4 and i havnt seen part 5. Number two felt like a kiddyfied remake of part 1 and part 4 didnt feel like it fitted in that series at all. I mean, the zombies in Return are supposed to be immortal. Not go own with abullet in he gut :/

Yeah, I was really excited when I read on Upcominghorrormovies.com that there were not 1 but 2 sequels coming out. I waited and waited until I finally heard they were going to finally premiere on the Sci-Fi channel, boy was I disapointed. It's always good to get new zombie movies, but at least follow the same rules within the same movie, and what was up with the sequel having the same characters not remembering what happened in the last movie. The original ROTLD was freakin awesome, 2 was too corny, 3 tried to get the series back on track and 4 and 5 buried it and pissed on it (but at least 5 had a Tarman).

The first three were great. Part one is my favorite because you had the perfect mix of horror and comedy. Two was really cool but it suffered from the the same thing that happens to a lot of sequels...the producers recognize that the humor of the first went over well so they decided to amp it up in the second. Aside from the lead actor in the third, who looked like he was about to cry through the entire movie, it was pretty dark which gave it good atmosphere.
Pt. 4 was rather lame. I don't want to see people fistfighting with zombies. There is nothing that I really remember about part 5.

I agree with you 100%, detpat. I loved the first film, but saw the sequels as essentially ruining what the first film had developed. There were so many cool ways to go from where the first film ended, and yet the filmmakers just made all the wrong choices in the sequels. It actually made me quite angry.

The first. The second is only really watchable once, the third is laughably bad at times but watchable, and they get shamefully stupid after that.

Agreed, MaxVeers. When I first saw ROTLD in '86 (on tape), I thought it was a real breath of fresh air. It was clearly outside the Romero universe - it even poked fun at Romero (although I keep wondering: as great as is the scene where James Karen tells the story starting with "have you seen that movie...," where did he get the info that the corpses had just sort of 'jumped around as if they were alive,' seeing as how dangerous they turned out to be; and how the heck did the US Army Corps of Engineers get the indestructible corpses into those canisters, and why did they lie dormant? But, considering the Katrina levee thing, the joke about the Corps designing the drums, and how easily they were breached by paper towels, was perhaps prophetic...). Plus, it really rocked with non-mainstream music and a pseudo-punk vibe; and the unkillable zombies were fun. Once.
When I saw ROTLD 2 in the theater, it seemed very goofy, and the novelty had worn off. I saw it again a few years ago, and it was really hard to finish. As for 3 - 5: they showed 3 as a preview to the Sci-Fi channel's premieres of 4 and 5 a few years back. One crappy evening. Three was bizarre, and, while I can appreciate a good zombie love story, this wasn't it. Four was just beyond lame, and it didn't even respect the zombie rules of the first movie. I turned 5 off after a few minutes.

I liked the first one the best. It was scary, funny, and very campy. I saw it when I was 11. I paid for a PG movie, and snuck into the theater to watch this. I was actually scared because I wasn't sure this could happen. :loon:
The second one was not as good, and it could have been a lot better if they hadn't put in all the strange humor, like the zombie with the screwdriver in her head.
I saw the third movie, but at the time, I didn't like it.
I have not had a chance to see the final two.

the first one is a true classic and for a small budget and being a comedy it had some great writing and some very good performances.
