View Full Version : The Amityville Horror - 1979
I have both the Amityville Horror original 1979 and remake on dvds. Plus I have parts 2 and 3 on dvd too.
I liked the original 1979 film alot and it creeped me out as a kid when I first saw it back in the early 80's on rental vhs. The creepiest part of the film was the music in it. Sounds like a little child singing :"lala..lala.lalala".
I liked the characters and actors in this film too. The house itself was creepy too.
BTW, if you liked the film then you ought to read the novel The Amityville Horror by Jay Anson. It's a good read which I own too.

Love it, creeped me out as a kid as well, i have read the book too. I liked the remake ok but it didn't have the same power as the original, but maybe that is cause i saw the original when i was 10, still kinda creeps me out.:scare::lol:
^the thing I didn't like about the remake was the tunnel crap underneath the house and that guy all dressed in black figure. That part was a bit ridiculous.

I think that was ment to be a bit like the passage to hell from the original.
I liked the scene in the 1979 film when James Brolin is chopping wood and his co-worker shows up at his house talking to him and then he throws the axe and it lands smack in the middle of the tree.

I love this movie. It's very subtle, but that helps create a brooding atmosphere over the entire film.
For some reason I was experencing a lapse of retardation at one point and saw the remake in the theater. What a steaming pile of shit that was! I love how the producers and writers made Jody a full body, solid ghost of a little girl instead of the floating pig demon!?!?!
****ing idiots.

I was kinda disappointed in the remake as well, I didn't actually mind it but it doesn't hold a card to the original. Same old story if there was nothing to compare it to it would be a better film.
Hmm, Satan Pig Jodie kinda ruined it for me

Rod Steiger over acted his little butt off in the original & i loved it.
Remake was crap, but Melissa George is cute, and Aussie, so i gotta like it a bit.
