is anbody else sick of people thinking that ,in the 2007 film i am legend, the vampires are zombies! its so annoying i mean the book was about vampires, the first movie ( the last man on earth) were about vampires i mean come on they are super strong and fast( something zombies don't do) and can't go out in daylight. Will smith even puts garlic oil on his house for gods sake. anybody else sick of this confusion or any other confusion over zombies being mistaken for something else or visa versa. O and no comments about me saying zombies aren't fast i am just using what i have learned from movies such as dawn of the dead and max brooks zombie survival guide.

Well, I've read the original book and I agree with you. Frankly Ill take any zombie (TYPE) movie they want to make. While I understand where you are coming from.
In the original book, some of the vampires are undead. In the 2007 movie, Neville mentioned that the infected eat the flesh of the survivors.
Seems like zombies, doesn't it?

I know what your saying. I've had to correct people myself and tell them it's vampires. Even though they are vampires it's still a great movie.
I do understand what your saying. People are always going to confuse zombies and such. Just explain to them the best you know how.

They are crappy CGI vampires that totally ruined a great acting performance by Will Smith, but still a descent movie.

i think the dark seekers had a bit of both zombie and vampire in them, seemed so in the film imo.
i didn't get the garlic oil on his house, i thought it was amonia
be that as it may, i liked the flick and have heard theres a sequel in the works.
viral outbreak or death from above (stellar ie comet, asteroid) should be our main concerns. as evidenced by the recent discoveries of nasa after the fact and what is currently in progress in mexico.

yes they do seem like zombies but they are not. they are sort of a cross between the vampires and the fast zombies of most new zombie flicks. But they were created from the so-called "cure for cancer" so maybe they're genetically engineered. but in the other movie "the omega man" they are classed as deranged, violent, nocturnal, photophobic mutant albinos. but thats just my opinion.

I thought it was a good film regardless of what they are supposed to be. They're fast, they eat people and they're a bit ****ed up. It's good.

i would like to clarfy in the omega man they were mutant albinos , in the last man on earth they were vamps in the book they were vamps and in the 07 movie they were vamps ok not vamps with rage virus powers they are vamps with the mindlessness of a zombie and the powers of modern day twilight vampires and i am just saying for the past 2 years everybody i ever heard talk about that movie thought they were zombies and after the 50th correction i got tired of it

He also used blood to set the trap...sounds like vampires to me... Sensitive to UV radiation...Vampires, went dormant during the day...Vampires...climbed the side of buildings and leaped tall cars with super human agility....Vampires. :eat:
But the creators said they're not vampires so go figure...they aren't zombies either...
Just like they said that 28 days didn't have zombies in it...everyone wants to argue that there are zombies in it...
 Why is this thread in Zombie Talk??

"In the ORIGINAL First Edition, Hard Back, Book 'I Am Legend', (which proudly sits on my bookshelf) it is clearly stated by the Author, that they are vampires, created by a virus. I'm sticking with the Author's definition." :)
It's funny how we argue over things that are fictional.

They are Dark Seekers, you never see a damn zombie seeking the dark!!!
I Am Legend could of been a great movie if they didnt go with the bad CGI, The ending totally ruined the movie for me. They should of went with live actors, The Omega Man is so much better. The only thing I thought was good about I Am Legend was Will Smith.
They should have stayed true to the real ending.
But todays audiences wouldn't have liked it because it would have been to depressing:cry::roll:

This movie was AWFUL! I could go on for days about all the things wrong with it. Anyone who truly enjoyed the novel should have a problem with this film on some level. The only way to even a little bit enjoy it, was to completely forget that it had any intentions of being like the book. Because from what I can see, it just had a similar idea. Nothing like the book, just coincidences.
Oh and I must say, I've never heard anyone refer the vampires as zombies. You guys who have had that problem must live around some real dumbos.:loon: Sorry to hear that.

They're Vampires???? I thought they were mutants. I never read the book the only thing I've seen was the movie. Well I at least I learned something today.

I was under the impression that they had changed them to be infected mutants or something. They didn't seem like vampires in that film, one a whole buncha reasons why I hate it.
I'm still waiting for a good adaptation of Matheson's novel, with its vampires and story in tact. So far it's been three strikes.

I always liked Omega Man. I also like Will Smith. As far as this film remake, it was ok. I enjoyed parts of it.

I am Legend is one of my favorite books, Richard Matheson is an awesome writer. I haven't seen the movie because I didn't want to see one of my favorite books turned into a Will Smith movie.

Any time!! :) The movie was wrong on so many levels...forget about the idea that it was "based" on the book. It wasn't even a very good movie..:-(
:eat: I can't wait for the sequel...

Oh Man...where to start?!.....SPOILERS!
I have read the book and have seen all three movies based on it. I enjoyed Omega Man the most, but I am a big fan of Charlton Heston. The Last Man on Earth would come in second--also a big fan of Vincent Price. I am not a fan of Will Smith, but I still liked the movie for it's entertainment value. There are some holes in the plot, but it was fun nonetheless.
As for vampires... I didn't get that. The book clearly states that the creatures are vampire-like--but not vampires! The infection is spread by a virus that is carried by the wind originally. Some people are immune. There are two types of infected--living and undead. The undead infected will feed on the living infected if there is no other host. The living infected take a pill so they can travel in daylight.
As for the movies, also not vampires. Vampire-like yes, but again, they are infected beings. Just because a disease seems like another and even shares similar traits, doesn't make it that disease!
Okay, I'm done now....

Once again a great performance by Will Smith overshadowed by bad CGI. They should of went with live actors.

In the new movie they don't even seem like vampires anymore, lol, really they just seem to be human carriers to a hybrid cancer strand.
Oh, in responce to the so called great performance by Will Smith (I wont b too harsh bc i liked him in it too), did anyone notice it was basically the exact same acting he had done in some of the Fresh Prince episodes (like all his other films). Like the I shot the sheriff singing he pulled off, it's all stuff he's done before, just saying...well asking
