The movies, books, and game reviews where are they? I havn't seen it updated in awhile.
I think we should get some individuals to do some reviews.
Who are active posters and good with grammar and punctuation and up to date with movies, games, and books.
Who agree's we need some new reviews.
I agree with ya and we need a new update on the main page cause Diary of the Dead was a year ago lol.

Because of the main site? I highly doubt it and do you know how many users visit this forum daily?

Users? 50-100 at least.
Thats users.
I'm not countin' the randomz.
Yes the mainsite is one of problems people use to go here for updates and look at reviews and find new things comin' out.
Then we got beat by are competitor.

I'm sort of torn. Other sites may have busier front ends but I always seem to come here for news e.t.c. even though I don't post a great deal. Also, I don't think there is anything wrong with being a small community in any way.
It's tough keeping a site on the go properly and it takes time and effort the owners of this place may not wish to put in seeing as the forum is ticking over (I know what I am talking about here. I run a few sites and that "Just a few articles" can be a stone around your neck when there are other things to do).
There are options to making the front end busier without too much work but I am sure the owners already know about them so I wont list them here and sound like a know it all ass :)

I would totally be into helping with zombie video game/movie updates and reviews on the main page.

Or, why not shift the entire site to a user-generated content system? That seems to be the trend all the big timers are going towards.

User generated content can be a nightmare. Unless you have a couple of folks with a strong vision and almost OCD level of organization, the site will devolve in a mess of half finished articles. The best example of this is the "Zombie Survival Wiki" which is a pure disaster if you are ever looking for anything.
That being said, this site seriously needs to update its content. Everything is out of date, and is neglected. When I first stumbled on this site, I thought it was a ghost town and I was about to leave until I stumbled into the forums. I was shocked to see how active they were in contrast to the rest of the site. Having made my living in the web world (Disney, TEAC, and currently ESPN), I strongly disagree with mrlaughingman. Neglecting a site is pure amateur night. People have a right to complain.
I'd say remove all the other stuff, and have the domain name point to the forums. Otherwise, get some volunteers together and start doing a makeover. I'd volunteer to act as an editor, but I already run my own small zombie site which is - surprise, surprise - a lot of work. I'd be happy to contribute some articles if needed.
The real question ... are there any of the gate keepers around who can make this happen?

There have been some very good points made in this thread, the first and foremost of which is the fact that the "front page" needs a SERIOUS update/makeover. I visited this site many times before I stumbled on the forums, and I truly believed that this entire website had fallen into disuse; no pun intended, it seemed like a dead website.
Now, I'm thrilled that we have so much action here in the forums, but I think what everyone in this thread is trying to say is that we could be a much bigger and more active community if all the people who currently come to the website, see the inactivity on the front page, and immediately go away, would instead see a active and prospering website, join the forums, and make our community bigger and better!
I will add my name to the list of people who are willing to assist with the front-end revamp, in any way I can be of assistance. I sent an e-mail to DeadKev when I first joined, offering the same help, but never heard back. As has been previously mentioned in this thread, I have no doubt that the mods of the site are tremendously busy, and we all certainly appreciate all they do for us. Hopefully we can help them make the forums and the entire site a bigger and better place!
What say you, Powers The Be?
I don't believe Dead Kev is interested anymore. If he gave control to someone else maybe more would happen

I'm happy to assist with working on the frontpage, as well as rounding up people to create editorial content. I'm happy to contact Dead Kev about it, but he appears to be absent from the site (last post in April). Are there any other gatekeepers around?

No word from Dead Kev ... I'm guessing he's on extended vacation. In any case, if someone has ftp access to the site, you might want to unzip and upload this file into the root directory of the site. It's called a favicon and it shows the ATZ logo on bookmarks and tabs. If you want to learn more about it, here is the wikipedia link:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Favicon
In any case, if you are a gatekeeper, you might want to go through the main site and pull all the broken links. That's the low hanging fruit.
