Found this (http://dvdtimes.co.uk/content/id/70470/zombie-virus-on-mulberry-street-r2-in-may.html) on a UK DVD/Blu-ray site... never heard of it til now, a debut feature by director Jim Mickie. Check the trailer out, because trust me, the horrendous artwork does it a major disservice.

Actually, this movie is nothing new. The name of the film is Mulberry Street (2006) and the baddies in this story are actually mutant-rat-people, not Zombies. They are just renaming this movie, and giving it a fresh new poster for redistribution in the UK. Nothing like a good hyperbole to market old stuff. http://www.allthingszombie.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=1&pictureid=1

Synopsis:
A zombie apocalypse-style story about rat people taking over New York seems like a long-shot for smartest horror film of the year, but MULBERRY STREET is it. In the tradition of Romero, Jim Mickle’s debut is also action-packed, highly political and intensely horrifying.
Co-writer Nick Damici stars as an ex-boxer living in an aging NYC apartment building slated for demolition to make way for new development. On the day his daughter is set to return home – after suffering a facial wound while serving in the military overseas – a mysterious virus erupts across the city that turns people in rabid, flesh-eating rat creatures. As chaos consumes the streets, he bands together with the rest of the tight-knit tenants, including a drag queen, geriatric war veterans and a teenager whose mother is trapped at the bar she works at down the street. When the infection threatens to take over the building, the unlikely heroes make a final stand.
Inventively shot guerilla-style in the streets of the Big Apple and in Damici’s apartment, MULBERRY STREET is a triumph of indie filmmaking.

Even if it's not about Zeds it did receive some good press, and it got a 'thumbs up' from many viewers. I might check it out regardless. :)

It was pretty good, but the people are not zombies. The RATS though, they looked like they were zombie rats that bit the people.
