I have been introducing my 10 year old son to some of my fave zombie & zombie related movies this week. He has been playing zombie games on consoles for years & has watched some light hearted horror films from my collection such as Tremors & Critters so didn't see the harm in it, i was younger when i saw my first horror films. We have watched Creepshow, NOTLD '90, NOTLD '68 & tonight Dawn of the Dead '78. He is loving it so we have a new fan folks, zombie surfer junior.
How did you get him to sit though a Black and White movie? lol
But glad to hear about your son.

I say go for it. I have a 3 year old who LOVES zombie movies. One of his first English words (he was adopted from Guatemala and brought home at 14 months) was "zombie." He still calls them "brains" sometimes, because my wife taught him the "what does the cow, chicken, etc. say" stuff, and thoughtfully included zombies in the mix, whom she believes say "brains," and that stuck. Many friends and family members have commented suspiciously on his early exposure to gory flicks, but I couldn't be more proud. His favorite film is "Bub" (i.e., Day of the Dead), but he also loves "Shopping Brains" (Dawn), "Hand Brains" (Land, because of the DVD cover art), "Deslie Brains" (Burial Ground - the Nights of Terror - he is fond of grabbing my throat and shaking me, saying "You killed my Michael, Deslie [Leslie]", to re-enact the Peter Bark-avenging scene in the bathroom), "Baby Brains' (Night, since the young daughter kills the mommy), "Shark Brains" (Zombi 2), and the list goes on. He has zombie puppets, dolls, a set of glow-in-the-dark figurines, and can do a frightening zombie impression - in fact, every boo-boo turns out to be a zombie bite, and he quickly succumbs and reanimates (usually after the band aid is applied). Lots of fun - the only downside is his tendency to say "Brains" in a creepy voice whenever he sees a cemetary (not so cool at family funerals). But, hey, he's a toddler - 10 is more than old enough for an introduction.

I was about 10 when Dawn of the Dead 1978 came out in the theater, I saw it at least 5 times back then, and I have been hooked on zombies, and in trouble with the law ever since:lol:.

Undead Fred -
I was also 10ish when Dawn came out, and I recall fondly my 13 year old buddy, who had snuck in to see it, giving the rest of the gang a scene-by-scene retelling on his front stoop. By then, I was already a budding zombiephile (via late night viewings of Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things and Night, and many hours of nailing boards over the windows of our various basements, to the consternation of our parents), but when I finally saw Dawn on VHS a few years later, I knew I was hooked for life, although I still have trouble watching that flick without hearing my friend's narration in my head.
