View Full Version : The Lost Boys - 1987
I looked up on here drunk and there was no Lost Boys from 1987.
Best Vampire to me besides 1979 Salem's Lot. We had the cheesy Corey's in it and cool music.
I have the 2 disc dvd of it and it's a great film but te 2 Coreys are still tring to get back into the acting game since their drug days and they sux/
^Sorry, that was pretty damn lame but I was in pain from a foot injury and should have talked more about the film which is my 2nd fave vampire film behind the 1979 Salem's Lot.
The music in this film was awesome and I loved the setting of it on the beach and the characters were great. I love the last 15 minutes of the film:
"Now you know what we are and now you know what you are"
"You'll never grow old Michael ...but you must feed"
"I tried to make you immortal"
"You tried to make me into a killer"
"You are a killer"
awesome and the song Cry Little Sister is a masterpiece.

Holy shit! It's the attack of Eddie Munster!
Look at your reflection in the mirror. You're a creature of the night Michael, just like out of a comic book! You're a vampire Michael! My own brother, a goddamn, shit-sucking vampire. You wait 'till mom finds out, buddy!
Love that movie one of my favorites.

Yeah, Lost Boys was brilliantly done. Even though my favorite Vampire film is From Dusk Till Dawn, this is definately 2nd best to me. And third place for me is I Am Legend.
I also love the vampire manga Chibi Vampire (also known as Karen).

That's by an english band though. It's not the original song from the film but still a cool version of it.

People are Strange is a cool movie song, IMO. After Salem's Lot and The Lost Boys, vampire films went all gay and prissy (except for From Dusk Till Dawn). I pretty much hate all vampire films these days. I blame Ann Rice! She made vampires SUCK! I hate her vampire novels, and I hated the movie versions. The Dracula film with Gary Oldman was a good film, but that story is classic and predated the wave of gay vampire films.

Well of course vampires suck! How do you think they get their blood?
OK, I agree that a lot of vampire films made recently weren't that great (especially Twilight, even though I wouldn't call it "gay"), but I thought that some like I Am Legend and the Blade films were fairly good. The only problem with most vampire films these days is that they just need to add more blood to reach the preferences I make in them, and they won't do that because they want to reach a mass audience of teenage & tween girls instead of horror fans like us.
Back to topic, how was the sequel to this movie? I remember it came out recently, and I was wondering if it was good for a direct-to-DVD sequel.

I love this movie. i was going to boycott the second, but after hearing they do reference the first with a few snide jokes i had to see it.

The sequel is a mere retread of the first. Virtually identical plot with a girl instead of the Michael character.
Original is a classic. A masterpiece. Perfect 80's style.

Lost Boys is my favorite vampire movie, and it has the two Coreys in it:lol: I wont even bother watching the remake, or sequel, or what ever the hell it is.
**SIDE NOTE** movies like Twilight are signs that the pussification of horror has dawned upon us.

Twilight doesn't deserve to have something called vampires in it. They looked like...I can't even say it.
I love the Lost Boys. I haven't seen it in a long time though! I should rent it next time. This was great.

Come on now. There are plenty more good vampire movies ( or at least a couple more). When it comes to Lost boys I never really thought of it as horror, more of a coming of age story. Boy meets girl, boy finds out girl is vampire, boy joins vampire gang, boy kills vampire gang with help from little brother and two cheesy weird little wannabe vampire hunting kids. Its a really fun movie. :)

How about From Dusk Till Dawn? That movie was brilliant! I really think George Clooney should be in more horror films.

I very much enjoyed this film. I saw it a few years ago when my mom talked about how much she liked it. (she and I are kinda in to vampires)
I hate to say it, but salems lot bored me. Maybe I was too young to sit through a movie that long.
I went through a phase where I couldn't stop watching blade. I've seen it well over 500 times, in a very short period of time. I would watch it, and rewind the tape and immediately watch it again. Was a strange obsession. I actually got depressed because I couldn't watch it for a few days. :loon: yea so now I can recite from memory the entire script.
I'm trying to think of a favorite vamp film but can't. I should pick blade because of my unhealthy track record with it. But I can't help but love interview with a vampire. It's by no means perfect. But I just love the elegance of it. The vampires are still portrayed as monsters, but they are classy and intriguing. Which is how I invision vampires. I don't see shriveled ridiculous I am legend vampires, or long-tooth and nail hunchbacked nosferatu types.
I have to say my least favorite are from dusk til dawn and I am legend. I liked both movies don't get me wrong. But fdtd was not ground breaking to me. And don't even get me started on IAL. I'm so angry about that movie. But if I just try really hard not to think about the book, and just watch the movie it's not so bad.

Oh! And I almost forgot! Here's a guilty pleasure! I like buffy the vampire slayer! The movie mind you, with kristy Swanson.
Has anyone seen the movie Jesus Christ the vampire slayer? It's some cult film. Looks funny.
Also to get back on subject, did anyone watch that reality show about the coreys? I saw an episode and that stuff was funny.

No I have never seen that vampire flick but I have seen Buffy the Vampire movie and thought it was so-so. Rutger Hauger played the vampire in it and he also played the vampre Mr. Barlow in the remake of Salem's Lot.

Well, I will say it was 100 times better than "the tribe"
The frog brothers were awesome.
I agree, it was a great movie, and represented all that is good of the 80's.

In addition to those, I would add Blade, Underworld, the Last Man on Earth, and Interview with the Vampire. :eat:

Salem's Lot has already been remade.
Salem's Lot (1979)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0079844/
Salem's Lot (2004) (TV)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0355987/
LOL. The TV remake was so-so, but not good.
I liked the original Salem's Lot much, much more.
Underworld is different than most vampire films, and is really a crossover genre film rather than a pure vampire film. Blade is a super-hero genre film where the hero has vampire super-powers and fights against vampire. It too is a crossover genre film.
Interview With The Vampire was an interesting movie, but I did not like the Anne Rice novel nearly as much. I am not a fan of her work. Fred Saberhagen wrote The Dracula Tape, and I prefer that over Anne's Rice version.
