View Full Version : Worst looking zombies?

I used the search function but didn't see a thread for this but if there is one then I am sorry and BZN or Darkness can close this one and bump the other one up.

What films had some of the worst zombie makeup in it to you?

I know you can name tons of low budget flicks or indie films but I'm talking about "bigger name films".

Zombie Holocaust - decent early 80's zombie vs cannibal film but the zombie makeup in it was horrendous and they looked horrible. The gore was okay in it though.

Burial Ground: Nights of Terror - 1980 film which I do like and it has the ugliest actor in it named Peter Bark. The gory kills were good but some of the zombies were pitiful looking.

I could name a ton of low budget flicks that had crappy makeup in it but name some bigger named films or bigger budget films that the zombie makeup was awful in them.

Day of the Dead 08 zombies were pretty bad, pepperoni pizza zombies, and the spiderman zombies - WTF -

Well because Mr Joe it is NOT a Romero movie, it shouldnt even have the name from the great original Day of the Dead (85). Dont you hate having to put a year behind Day of the Dead now because you dont want people thinking it was the 2008 version? Tomorrow is Friday the 13th by the way.

Dawn of the Dead(original 1979) - great film but terribly lame looking zombies in it. Most of them were just painted green or blue. There was only a few that had actual zombie makeup on them like for instance the one at the airport that he shot in the head and Flyboy. The rest of them were really lame looking.

Day's blue grease paint is lame, but it does not rise to the level of "worst."

Since I'm old school, I'm going with the unclassic I Eat Your Skin. The VooDoo zombies look like they have oatmeal caked on their faces, and they have pingpong balls for eyes. BTW, this 1964 gem features a zombie suicide bomber.

Sugar Hill - 1970's voodoo flick that has the zombies with silver balls for eyes lol.

While I agree that DOTD78 had some weak zombie FX, I think the worst zombie makeup is in Doomed (not Doom), a recently made turd which has fast zombies in the laziest zombie makeup imaginable. They either do no effort at all besides placing a few drops of fake blood here and there (and I am NOT exaggerating when I say "drops"), or they just put on contacts and Wal-Mart grade fake skin underneath crappy wigs.

Well, Night of the Living Dead zombies had almost no make up at all, they just did some weird facial expression. I'm not saying it was a bad movie. If it wasn't for NotLD this forum wouldn't even exist. But, it was a low budget movie, so its OK.

Yeah, the green makeup in Zombie Lake ran off the zombies faces when they were coming out of the water lol.:lol:

Oasis of the Zombies had some bug eyed looking zombies with awful makeup effects on them too.

This is pretty good make up. It shows a zombie in a late state of decomposition.
