I read mainly crime fiction (Elmore Leonard, Andrew Vachss www.vachss.com) and I've been wanting to read some good zombie fiction. Other than The Rising which I am planning to read, what else is out there in this sub-genre?

John,
From one John to another, I would suggest Len Barnhart's Reign of the Dead (it's a short read, but really good). And also Apocalypse End: Reign of the Dead.

ah, yes... very good indeed, i've also read the zombie survival guide and resident evil:city of the dead and resident evil:nemisis. the resident evil books are meh,but both reigns are really good, so are the short stories at the end of the survival guide....o ya! try going to raptormans website at www.raptorman.us. its a journal depicting one mans journey thru an undead world...im sure everyone else here would agree to that being a good read.

I enjoyed Blood Crazy and would also concur with the Reign of the Dead novels. Also check out the Risen for something a bit different. I'm currently reading Legion of the Dead, but it is not that great. I reviewed the Breeze Horror on this forum. I wasn't too impressed.
