View Full Version : Movie Theme Suggestions for 2009?
Bad Zombie Night
02-13-2009, 10:59 PM
I closed the February suggestions thread, and I started this one for the remainder of the year. As I said, we will have one Movie Night gathering per month but I still need input from everyone. I like this to be a team effort so everyone can have their say as to what we will watch.
I came up with a couple of ideas for the next two months, and here there are:
March 2009: A Zombie Movie or something with a St. Patty's Day theme like the movie Leprechaun?
April 2009: A regular Comedy or perhaps a Horror Comedy?
OK, let's here your thoughts about this or other future Movie Nights. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y152/bzn123/Smileys/brain.gif

I like the idea of a zombie movie for March. There are so many to choose from...
As for comedy, I really am not a big fan. The only comedies I like are Dumb and Dumber and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. I do however like the zombie comedies...Dead and Breakfast, Shaun of the Dead, Undead or ALive, just to name a few...

"Here's a few thoughts....."
"May: 'Killer Plant' Movies." (Spring, time for things to bloom.)
"July: 'Verses Movies'." (Such as Freddy Vs. Jason, Alien Vs. Predator, etc.) (In honor of Independence Day.)
"September: 'Worker Goes Crazy and Kills Everyone' Movies." (That's the month with Labor Day Weekend.) :)
"December: 'Warped Santa Movies, or Bloody Christmas' Movies." (In honor of Christmas, what else?)
I think you ought to have like for every month have holiday themed movies from that month. Like for instance:
Mother's Day - whatever month that is have everyone watch the slasher film from the 80's called Mother's Day.
July - have people watch Uncle Sam which is a 90's slasher film.
October - watch any of the Halloween film series or Trick or Treat film or etc...
April - April Fools Day originnal 80's slasher film

"How about Killer Rabbit Movies in April, in honor of Easter?"
In April, you gotta do zombie comedy. This is a zombie forum, so you should really keep to the zombie genre. You should also pick movies that most people have in their collection.
My suggestions for April:
Shaun of the Dead
Fido
Undead
Return of the Living Dead
I don't know of any killer rabbit horror films for April but here's 2 slasher films that deal with April:
April Fools Day - 1986
April Fools Day - remake

I just suggest that we have more time allowed to find said movies before our movie night. I ordered this Saturday's movie and am sad to say that it won't be here until Monday.
Oh and this whole theme movie thing is kinda dumb. Why is it that just because it's Easter or Mother's Day or whatever, our movies have to reflect that holiday? :loon:

Does it HAVE to be horror movies? Couldn't we have a comedy or something? I think for April, a good choice would be "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?".

May - the film called May about a psychotic girl.
Mother's Day - early 80's slasher film
Zombie 3: After Death
Bad Taste - Peter Jackson's 1st film
Chopping Mall - corny but fun movie about killer robots in a mall from the 80's.

We already had The Thing for May of last year and it was a Movie Night disaster. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y152/bzn123/Smileys/Violence/budo.gif
Nobody except me showed up, and after that whole episode, I wound up shutting the whole thing down. The Thing is a fine movie but perhaps it is a bad omen for us. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y152/bzn123/Smileys/Violence/cut.gif

I don't wanna be a downer... but there is really no reason for a "theme" since we only watch one movie a month.
Yes, we watch one movie month but it's voted on by the members. The whole "theme" idea is designed to offer members a variety of film titles from a varied subgenres, so we don't get locked into watching the same type of horror movies every month. But if you notice from our past polls, the themes are not really exclusive. We try to offer a varied selection of film titles every month. I'm currently working on a list of "Movie Night Rules" regarding which films get put into the polls, so we can rotate 'films and 'genres' around.
