Just got back from seeing this, I really enjoyed it alot, thought it was the probaly the best F13 movie in 20 years ( really probaly since 2 or 3 ) , I really liked the way jason was more "human" for example him realzing someone was in his camp area and he runs and turns the lights on to look for them, another nice touch was that his machette was sheathed at his side the whole time, it had some pretty good kills - nothing too over the top like the later entries in the series , they were more along the lines of the kills in part 2 and 3, the gore was pretty good not over done but they didnt skimp on it either, and there were plenty of boobies as is the case with most good slasher movies.

only 2 minor gripes about it , first if it wasnt for the first 15 or so minutes of the movie this could have been any sequel in the series the first 15 minutes is really the only thing that sets it up as a "reboot" or a remake other then a slight change in tone with the way jason acts. very minor spioiler going to tag it just to be safe

and a few things in the final 10 or so minutes of the movie that are reminescent of the older movies

my other gripe is we never get to see amanda righetti naked

I really do feel a reboot of the franchise is really the only way they could have gone as increasingly silly as the movies have gotten from part 7 on , this way they can tone down the camp and start to churn out the hockey mask serial killing fun again w/o constantly having to one up the absurdness of the last film.

all in all this was a very enjoyable slasher flick that doesnt set out to reinvent the wheel, and a very strong entry in the friday the 13th series.

9 / 10

Depending on my busy work schedule, I'd like to possibly catch a matinee killin' spree sometime in the middle of this or next week. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y152/bzn123/Smileys/Characters/jason3.gif

I only watched half of this last night and I doubt I will be watching the ending. This movie reminds me all the reasons why I was never a fan of the 80's slasher films. :eat:

This movie lacked any originality, it was predictable, it had unimaginative kills and the acting was terrible.

Compared to the remakes of classics such as the Texas Chainsaw Massacre or the Hills have Eyes, sadly this remake just didn't "have it". :-(

I agree with DarthJoe. it was unimaginative. It wasn't a re-interpretation, just a re-hatching of the same ideas as the original. That being said, I do enjoy the originals so it wasn't all bad. But I would have liked to see some creative license used.

What do you expect? It was a Michael Bay production.

I thoght it was going to be like the new TCM movies which are completley boring shitfests.....but it wasnt. I really enjoyed it. it should hav e just been labeled as a follow up not a remake....it wasnt. The jason reminds me of how he acted in my favorite of the series part 6...like a hyper killing badass. a bit lame with the tired theme of him thinking girls are his mother but all around good edition to my favorite slasher series. loved the sleeping bag homage!
