Here's a film that doesn't get talked alot about on horror message boards called Wolfen that came out in 1981. I have it on dvd and it's not a "true" werewolf film but it involves a pack of wild wolves loose in New York City and they kill people at night.

The film stars Albert Finney, Gregory Hines, and Edward James Olmos and is a cool flick really. I like the howling wolves sounds in it and the film is like about 2 hours long.

Anyone else like this flick?

I love Wolfen. It's a GREAT horror film. It plays with the ideology of changelings and shape shifters without actually committing to the whole werewolf mythology. The Indians that worked on the bridges seemed to imply to Dewey Wilson (Albert Finney) that there were shape shifters at work. The IMDb summary puts it like this: "A city cop is assigned to solve a bizarre set of violent murders where it appears that the victims were killed by animals. In his pursuit, he learns of an Indian legend about wolf spirits." I also loved the the tag line for the film: "They can hear a cloud pass overhead, the rhythm of your blood. They can track you by yesterday's shadow. They can tear the scream from your throat."

I like how it shows the wolves through the camera's eyes or audience eyes who watch it. It shows the color of the screen like a yellowish/redish when a wolf is stalking a victim.
