In my mind I think that there are different types of our undead friends, whether they are forest, water, fire, or warehouse zombies I wonder which would be the worst to get attacked by, please take my poll to see which kind of zombies you would'nt want to take on, by the way thanks to everyone so far on my responses to all things zombies.

I always hate it when people call police officers "pigs" and such.

It's so juvenile.

Anyway, I voted forrest zombies.

If you are in the woods and they attack, you have very few options.

All you can do is RUN LIKE HELL!

You actually have quite a few options in the woods.

You can go up a tree ( Zom can’t climb)

You can smash their heads in with a rock or heavy stick; also stab them through the eye with a sharp, narrow stick.

Cross or flow down a river, (Zom can’t swim but can walk on the bottom)

I’m most cautious of the warehouse or police station Zoms because when indoors your movement is predicable and sound is amplified.

I firmly believe there is only one type of zombie.

All zombies start out as fast as they were in life, although they are much less quartinated. Some zombies may become faster than they in life because pain and physical sensation is no longer an issue.

The Zom only begin to slow when Rigor mortis begins to manifest after about 3 hours after death hits, and then continually slower as decomposition develops.

How could an infection spread without the Zom having at least some sort of ability to move fast?

I would hate to be treed with a dozen or so zombies at the base of the tree waiting for you to come down. I wonder how long a person can remain in a tree before fatigue sets in? If you fell asleep, you could fall out and die from the fall or from zombies ripping you to pieces. Still, compared to the warehouse idea, you would have a lot more running room and escape distances.

For my part, there are many, many types of zombies in the fictional world. It can depend heavily upon what caused the zombification process to begin. However, using your theory on zombies, I can see what you mean. It makes sense for zombies that do not have rejuvenated Mt-DNA or any specialised bacterial protections from rigor mortis and decomposition.

I should have gone more in detail about trees.

You should use trees that are close enough so you can move from tree to tree. A hammock is an essential part of my gear because you can hang it between two branches, also when you must sleep on the ground it serves as a mattress. I would also have a sheet of water proof nylon and lengths of cord to shed rain and catch it, also depending on the season I would have a blanket (sleeping bags are to heavy and bulky).

If you are without a hammock you can fasten yourself to the tree with your belt or a rope. You can eat parts of the tree such as pine nuts, acorns, and inner bark.

I always enjoy these polls. Some times they’re silly, but most often I find them to be thought provoking. I was able to make a choice at first glance.

1) Forests are generally densely populated. Without knowing whether or not the zombie virus could make a host of the animal/plant life/inset kingdom, I wrote this off the list as…semi-safe thoroughfare.

2) Police Stations always pose a high threat due to their locations within municipalities. However, they are often misrepresented in zombie survival subculture. These structures are fortifications (normally) and will aid as a fall-back and/or stand-off position.

3) Highways are raised platforms. They’re a shooting gallery, and the uninfected are bobbing ducks. These travel routes are sparsely populated outside of major metropolitan areas. The problem is they are the Wal-Mart on Christmas Eve for survivors. Everyone is going to race away from the outbreaks…and end up on the highway!

4) Warehouses are normally lightly staffed, and are located in industrial complexes. Security depends on stock. Choosing a warehouse that stores valuable goods, could line you up in a heavily fortified facility.

I choose to avoid the zombie highway. Then again…when the outbreak occurs (boogity boogity), who knows what decisions(s) I’ll make!
