What do you think is the worst movie franchise?
I think we have a bunch of them but the first one that comes to mind would have to be Children of the Corn. :puke:
The first one was so stupid that I can't believe that they are remaking it. :x
We currently have 8 movies of this crap with a made for tv remake of the original. I don't even know anyone who has seen all of them. :x
So, what do you think??::drinking:

I liked Children of the Corn, I can relate to how they were feeling when they killed all of their parents. But I can agree that the rest of them didn't need to be made.
Worst franchises IMO: Leprechaun, Candyman, and Scream

Leprechaun and Candyman are good choices. :puke:
I was just thinking that the Nightmares on Elm street movies went from cool to stupid fast.

Leprechaun is awesome in a B-movie sort of way. My favorite is Leprechaun in the Hood (Though I have not seen Back 2 tha Hood) At the end? He ****ing RAPS. Oh I love the Leprechaun.
And Elmstreet? Those are great too. Yes there are some that are blindingly stupid, but they can't all be winners.
I vote for Saw and Hostel type franchises. I HATE the Saw movies. They're like snuff films really. I'm all for gore, but I like movies with a decent story or at the very least a likeable villain. At some points the Elmstreet movies are very much about the deaths and silly effects, but they fit because Freddy is such a charismatic villain. Jigsaw though? ****ing cancer patient pissed off and punishing people who didn't appreciate their lives. Weakass.

My frist thought was Leprachaun. Sure the first one was descent but then it just got really stupid fast. They had him go to the hood 2 times and then into space...
Secondly i would have to say Friday the 13th. Don't get me wrong i love most of the moives but when Paramount sold the writes to F13 to New Line cinema they came out with Jason goes to Hell and Jason X which took jason to space...
Other typical movies that start off good and then tragically go horrible is when they come out with a movie and it makes it to the big screen and then Scifi or some broadcasting Television compony buy's the writes to it and just comes out with a mess of a movie.
I would have to say these:
Camp Blood Trilogy - what horrible acting in these films and it seems that in each sequel the killer's clown mask keeps getting bigger and bigger.
Sleepaway Camp - terrible.....just plain ass terrible. I haven't seen part 4 yet called Return to Sleepaway Camp but I heard that it sux bad.
Bloody Murder series - Part 2 was actually 1000 times better than the first one cause it has Tiffany Shepis naked in it and the killer's mask is better and there's actual gore in it. Part 3 of the series is called The Graveyard and was very lame and boring.
Child's Play - I know alot of people like this series but I'm not a fan of them at all.

I agree NOES # 1 was great, then just awful.
Children of the Corn.....mondo retarded
Lephracan.....unbelievably dumb.
Saw 1 was good but is slipping fast.
Hellraiser films have gone downhill for me fast. I liked the first 2 and the one called Bloodline but the others just suck and don't show hardly any of Pinhead much in them.

Yep, I agree. I like the 3 you mentioned only.
Good call.
I might get beer bottles thrown at me for this but I can't stand The Toxic Avenger series. I only own the first one but I have seen parts 2 and 3 and they stunk. I know that Troma is corny but these films are just stupid imho but they do have alot of fans for them.
Ghoulies - need I say more, lol.

I would say "Saw." Couldn't stand the first one and couldn't get into the second. Saw sucks.
Saw is a good movie series actually and I'm not being a jerk rooting for it but look at such awful ass series like:
Camp Blood - 3 films and they blow
Sleepaway Camp - 4 films and I gotta take a crap now
Bloody Murder - someone light a match

Sleepaway Camp - 4 films and I gotta take a crap now
What I like about "Sleepaway Camp" is the fact that it's not supposed to be taken seriously. "Saw" is way too into itself. I could've lived with just the first one but beyond that, it's just beating a dead horse with a blunt and heavy object. I do, however, respect the box office on the low budget.

I know but unlike most people I seem to like each film better in that series than the one before.....I might be a moron but I like Saw 3 the best out of the whole series so far. I have Saw 4 on dvd but haven't watched it yet.

Even though I'm just as tired of the long-ass story lines and annoting twist endings myself, I love the gore and effort put into the films. And I do not think those movies should be placed in the category of "torture porn".
I personally think the worst movie franchises are American remakes of Japanese horror films. Both "Ring" movies sucked, both "Grudge" movies sucked, both "Pulse" movies sucked, and every other movie in that category sucked with just one movie! Quit with the semi-nude pale kids and water effects, and show blood & guts like I love!

It wasn't the absolute greatest, but I liked the Crittters 'quadrilogy' nonetheless. The first one was had some original ideas with a familiar plot. The second film I enjoyed the best out of the four. It had some laughs, boobs, and plenty of mayhem. The third movie I remember liking the least of all. All I can say is that I simply didn't care for the storyline. The 4th and final film I liked better than the third. There was some role reversal going on which made it somewhat interesting IMO. :2cents:

Yeah, a few of them are off from what I thought. There is no way that Mad Max 3 was better than Mad Max. I hated Beyond Thunderdome. And, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom was a horrible movie, IMO. It should be rated much, much lower.

I think that the worst movie franchise is Saw and Leprechaun. Leprechaun because it went to space, fail. Saw is one of the worst because it's being mishandled. The first movie was FANTASTIC. The second and even third were pretty good too. After that, Jigsaw is dead so the movies should have died too. Now they are taking a name and making snuff films out of it. It's embarrassing to the horror community.

Once New Line took over the Friday the 13th franchise, I feel it lost a lot of the "good stuff" that it had in the Paramount movies. For one, Jason Goes To Hell was a stupid idea and Jason X was laughable. I do agree, though, a good snuff film is NEVER a bad idea, except when it's been done before like with the Saw movies

I third that too. I have all of the TCM's films on dvd including TCM remake and it's sequel. I love those films. Part 4 was the weakest with Renee Zellweger and Matthew McConaughy in it.
Ghoulies was a terrible film series as well as Basket Case films. I think there were 3 or 4 Basket Case movies.
Also Silent Night, Deadly Night series pretty much blows. I loved the 1st film but part 2 sucked bad. I have parts 3 and 4 on vhs and they were pretty lame. I think there was 6 of them made and the last one starred Mickey Rooney lol.

Whoever called Hostel gore-porn was right, for people who like to watch other people suffer, it was a good movie. For someone like myself who saw the first one expecting something scary or at least an interesting story, we got ripped off. Hostel and Saw get my vote for worst series' in the recent horror flicks.
Lord of the Rings was a terrible trilogy, even the spoof Lord of the G-strings was better.
The two Leprechaun in Da' Hood movies redeemed that series, if for no other reason than getting to see Ice-T with a huge afro.

Hostel, both awful films, have heard there is a third one in the works. Gory and over the top and still managed to have nothing scary or amusing the whole movie. They both start off like a stupid teen movie, and thats the most enjoyable parts.
I do enjoy SAW though first horror series i got into, and it has a decent storyline. I hope it gets a proper and definite ending.

Yeah i suggested seeing Let The Right One In to someone and their educated response was "r the vamps hot?" (Swedish vampire film, one of the best movies i have seen). By that logic zombies films suck because they look horrible...

I would have to say anything produced by Tyler Perry. Granted, not all of his films feature the same character but the ones where he plays a fat, old, lady. If would rather gouge out my eyes and dip them in acid than watch one of those crappy flicks.
Steve Martin's Pink Panther films need to die as well. It is hard to believe those movies were made by the same guy that gave us The Jerk.

was just gonna say the same thing. Freddy went from being a bad ass to a joke.
Dan, Yonkers Vet.
Yeah, there is something about Freddy in the first movie that makes him awesome, but later he becomes a bad one liner.
IMO, the Scream series is terrible.

The American Pie movies... not even 2 and 3 but like, all the other shit that's been pumped out under same stamp. Ughhh.
Halloween - just die, Michael. Seriously.

Agreed, but i hate all teen comedies.
I like Zombies remake more than the original..but most slasher are completly awful now. I though Friday The 13th remake was good though.

A friend of mine sent this to me a few months back.
It seemed like it might be interesting in this thread.

bull shit God Father 1 was the best. also you cant say #3 sucks because it was a rapup of the other 2. if it was ment to stand alone there would be some one taking up the mantle. when you look at it as one big movie (is why its call part 1 part 2 part 3 not GOD FATHER REDEMPTION, GOD FATHER SALVATION, GOD FATHER OTHER CRAPPY OVER USED MOVIE NAME) part 3 is just the falling action of part 2 when fredo its shot being the climax. part 3 is at least a 55 if the second is a 90 and the first is 99
