I actually don't watch Dexter but My favorite real serial killer is the Zodiac. One of the most enigmatic killers ever and unlike Jack the Ripper (as far as we know) police came face to face with him right after a murder and didn't realise it untill weeks later.

Dexter is very cool and if your interested in watching the series, PM me. :eat: The cops did the same thing with Jeffrey Dhamer. They got fired for it also, mostly for making gay jokes over the police radio......:loon:

Leatherface, until the TCM remake and it's prequel ruined everything and smothered him with exposition, an actual name and the 'he got bullied and had a skin condition' sympathy card.
What a joke.
Other than that... Jeffrey Dahmer *cue "You show me yours and I'll show you theirs" in prison jokes*

gotta say my pick is a local legend, years ago guy named frank caught his wife cheating on him. well he just happened to have some guys logging on his land. rumor has it on that very night while she slept he hacked her apart with a chainsaw. i'm not joking, after this he cooked her chunks and served them to the loggers the next day. well people started going missing and then they checked his smokehouse. they founds limbs, and in the back his wifes head. the old house this happeded at i found years latter on a backroad,

Hard to pick one...
The Zodiac is up there, since he was never caught or positively identified,(and who inspired "Scorpio" from the original Dirty Harry)
Ed Gein, without whom there would've been no Norman Bates, Leatherface, or Buffalo Bill,
Charlie Starkweather and Caril-Ann Fugate, without whom there never would have been "Natural Born Killers" (or the earlier and superior "Badlands").
My top 5 fave killers in a horror film in order are:
1. Michael Myers - Halloween
2. Harry Warden - My Bloody Valentine(1980)
3. Jason Voorhees - Friday the 13th
4. Ghostface - Scream
5. Leatherface - The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
