I had never heard of the books, but I'm sure I'll be reading them once the season is over, because I'm sure they'll end it on a cliffhanger of some sort.

I love vampires, and I am enjoying the show. 99.9999% of vampire stuff makes me want to throw up though. Between Anne Rice and Stephanie Meyer I had almost completely lost interest.

Anyone else watch? Thoughts? General vampire thoughts?

I absolutely love the show! I get up early every Sun before work just to watch the show!! I am excited to hear that the 2nd season has already been approved!

When I first saw it, I couldn't help but notice its obvious flaws, but I have defintely gotten past them and am a bit addicted. The acting isn't top-notch always, but the directing is usually pretty impressive, the music is original and cool, and I like that they add in small things that aren't essential to plot but make it more real. I've been watching every Sunday since the first episode.

I have to say im a big fan of vampires but this show just seems totally shitty to me for some reason. The idea of a bunch of redneck vamps doesnt seem to wanna hold my attention:drinking:

I don't think I'd go in so far as to call it a redneck vampire show. I'd call it a southern vampire show sure, and that's sort of why I like it. It's more quaint I guess. A lot of modern vampire stuff is like... the Blade movies. All in the city and techno clubs and junk. I think I like seeing a different take on it. A different set of people and how they'd behave.

I respect it in that sense, but i just like the modern, city feel....to a degree. I actually perferr old-school vamps like Lestat in The Vampire Chronicles, now those are the shit:evil: They are dark and not at all urban or modern(except The Vampire Lestat or Queen of the Damned) and even those have an ancient or turn of the century type feel. Bram Stokers feel.:drinking:

I have found it very entertaining as a whole. However, there are times when they overdo the sexual aspects of it. With only two episodes left to the season now, it will be interesting to see how it ends up at the cut off.

Anything with frontal female nudity is good.

Oh I am such a chauvinist pig...

I've heard of this show along with 30 days of night the series...and I still haven't watched either. I'll give it a chance, but if it's a smoochy vampire flick...I'm outa there!
