I'd sign on as a Rifleman. I'm a bit of a scaredy cat. So I'd never be able to become a melee. An officer? My random peronality makes me seem totally, well, not suited for a leader. Although I feel I am. So no officer for me. Tecnician? Yeah, sure. I get a compter crash every other month. Marksman? I've never actually used a gun before. 'm a bi of a quick learner at things, but I don't think I could get a super scope shot any time soon. Same for Sniper. Driver? I just got a permit this year. I don't think I'd be good in a dangerous situation. Almost no exp. in driving. Machine Gunner? A little heavy for my tastes. And as for officer, I just don't want to. So yeah, that really just leaves me with Rifleman.

Ill probably wind up being that too gama. Riflemen is what we need though for when the marksmen feel like the zeds are getting a little too close, which is what i hope to be, I'de like to have a nice big 7.62 to punch things with

while your getting attacked ill be on the roof sniping them off enjoying an ice cold beer with bob and vj
VJ does not drink, he is an excellent friend to have cuz there is never an argument about who is going to stay sober and drive. I just picked up another hundred 308 yesterday, going to do it again today. If I have time I intend to load another 500 45's.
I saw a 20 pack of Federal Hydrashock priced at $46.
I did not type that wrong it is forty six dollars.
Talk about price gouging.
9mm, 40 cal and 45acp are hard to find even on line.
I just got my Heavy Rigid license so i can be driving big trucks now:clap:

I'm not sure which one I would choose. Its between melee & sniper. I chose melee because I think I have good reflexes, I'm pretty agile & I know a couple of moves(this is a result of growing up with big brothers) . And sniper because I have a good shot with paintball guns.
kiltedninja
04-17-2009, 07:11 PM
A paintball gun is a little different than a rifle. I shoot a Lee Enfield and an M1A at least twice a month, I'm accurate to about 150yds, a little further on good days.
A good sniper could take my M1A and stretch the limits of it's effective range with the proper scope.
As for Melee, having good reflexes is a good thing, but all the moves in the world won't matter if you can't use them when you've got adrenaline flowing. And trust me, in a fight, adrenaline does flow.
It would be up to you though, if you think that you can do the job.

@ZombieKat
You may be a little more familiar with cleaning a gun because of paintball but shooting them are two very different things. I'de suggest hitting a range one day and trying out some guns, it will probably be a good thing to do than just trusting with knowledge from paintball since there really isn't any walking in shots with rifles.

A paintball gun is a little different than a rifle.
Yes, quite a bit different.
If you have someone you know who owns a rifle, not just someone who has firearms but someone you really trust, get them to take you out to the range one weekend. If you don't know anyone, look up your local range and see what classes they offer, most beginning/familiarization seminars are free. Take a friend with you so you don't get uncomfortable. I suggest a bolt action .22lr for the first few times, until you've got the fundamentals down.
Aww screw that, he's a paintballer.
He can handle pain, start him with a Ruger #1 chambered in .458 Lott.
Knock Knock
I am just kidding, he would develop a terminal case of flinchitis.
Seriously having played several years of paintball with everything from a Grey Ghost pump to a DM5 it is very different.

Yeah, if you have no real life experience or training in sniping, its a very tough feat. Saying you have shooting experience because of playing paintball is just one step above playing Halo.
kiltedninja
04-18-2009, 01:14 PM
I'm slightly more trained than the average teenager, because my dad's an officer in the Army, but I can't be a sniper, that kind of range, even with my M1A is something I can't accomplish with what training I have.
However, come Zday, the range at which the enemy is dangerous will be severely lessened. Assuming that we're only fighting Zack. In other sorts of defence, a sniper would be useful, someone who could take a target with a headshot at five hundred yards could be helpful.
I'd still have to choose scout, because I can cover twenty miles on my feet in five hours. Throw some rest in there, some food, and I can go all day, even with a pack.
Dave Of The Dead
04-18-2009, 01:30 PM
Amen, I'm sure I'll be right there with you. The scope on my 30-30 is set to about 250 yrds so I can look for any trouble up ahead.
Gemtech Oasis
04-19-2009, 02:23 PM
Im a good shot. Sniper Id guess.
Dave: I'm not so sure about setting the scope of a .30-30 for 250 yards. That is really stretching the caliber past it's breaking point. I wouldn't be attempting a shot with a .30-30 past 150 yards with practice. To each his own, but my mentality is that if it cant kill a deer at a certain range, dont try killing a man with it, dead or not.
Sort of forgot to add my role, well me and my buddy are both already branched from a larger militia. Right now we don't have the skills to be much else but infantrymen (he is Water Purification in the Army Reserves and I am going to Marines BCT this summer if the papers ever get filed). So if some stuff went down and we had to stay together with some other people, I guess he'd be a marksman (great shot out to around 200 yards with his .308, but not far enough to be a sniper) and I'd probably be a driver or a infantryman, because I don't have the resources to be a sniper.
I'd be a riflemen or a sniper. The fact is that by my standards teams of that low of a number an large enough group of zombies would get them all down. But I could be mis-reading and there could be more then I thought.

The thing is man, can you get off a head shot at 150yds?
There's a reason I didn't choose sniper, my Lee Enfield can shoot that far, but I don't have a scope on it, and I'm not Vasily Zaytsev, so I can't iron sight a shot too well past two hundred.
Big difference in head shots on a piece of paper or shooting melons.
They don't jerk about randomly.

But I could learn with a rifle & beside I could modify the guns to shoot out fast enough to go through. I havent tried it but I'm pretty sure it could work right?

Yeah I gues your right on both. I think I'll re-consider to just melee because I think I could do better when my adrenaline starts flowing & there is no shooting range near were I live so I will hardly get any practice with actual rifles. And if I dont do a good job & I get bit you could shoot me ;-)

What range can you accurately shoot at?
I can shoot accurately from point blank, to about 150 yds. I've never learned how to sight a scope, so even if I can shoot farther than that, I can only see my target at 150yds.

i am good for head shots out to 200 with the socom and could probably knock them down out to 400 with a center mass shot. my wife would probably be good for head shots out to 300 with the same, she can ring a 12x12 gong at 300 easily and continually (she has a far better eye than i). with her savage weather warrior all scoped out i'm betting she will be good for head shots out to 800 yards if we can find the right load.
my norc 1911a1 i can put together fist sized groups all day at 25yds, i can do the same with my 686 at 50 yards.
but this is all on our time at our leisure, under fire you could scrub a good part of that off.

Yeah, about 150 yrds with my rifle and a quarter of that or so with the pistols... except for my little .22 revolver. I never know which direction that one is going to fire in. :x
kiltedninja
04-26-2009, 02:10 PM
That's still about forty yards with a pistol, which is a good shot. I dunno what range I'm accurate to with a pistol, never tested the range.
I prefer pistols, because I like to get right up in your face when I'm fighting, I'm a CQ fighter, maybe it's all the fistfights I've gotten into.
homelitexl

i used to be able to shoot a pistol a 100 yards on a spread pattern of a foot.
All bs aside I saw a silhouette shooter hit 10 out of 10 Rams at 100 yards with a 22 pistol.
I can't remember what my record is but I would always take down at least a couple of rams with a S&W 22A or a Ruger Hunter 22 auto.
Birdman44
04-26-2009, 09:24 PM
I can get a good 3" group with a GLOCK 22 (.40S&W) from about 18 yards. Thats about it, peppered right around the Q. Dunno about rifle, never shot anything bigger than a .22lr in a rifle, and the longest range was about 40-50 yards, I was good enough at that though. Could definately take some head there. I mean uh, shoot heads at that range.
As for the alcohol, the plus besides keeping the Irish at bay is that it also keeps us germans content by giving us something to drink with our pretzels

I wonder why anyone would want to be a "melee" guy ?
If you're within bad breath distance of a Z, then you or your leader screwed up. I understand that while patroling or clearing buildings it's a possibility, but I want to be as far away from my opponent as possible, and paying attention to what's going on around me keeps me from getting within arms reach of most dangers.
I just don't understand why someone would want get that close to any opponent, when a intercranial injection will relieve their copper and lead defficiencies.

I chose sniper, but I think what I'd do is find an experienced police officer/S.W.A.T./Ex-military to help me find what I'm best at. I think I could do well as a sniper, but it may not be what my "trainer" says. I noticed that sniper was tied for 1st place votes on the poll, and I'm wondering how many people put that from real experience or xbox live. Personally I've had alot more trigger time than most kids my age. Another part of being a sniper is knowing your gun. Snipers pefect their weapons to their personal settings, if that makes sense. You'd have to find a rifle, zero it, know how the scope works, and use up tons of ammo in the process to know how your breathing, and trigger pull act with the scope. I'm not just shooting my mouth off here, I know my gun and how I shoot with it, but how many other "snipers" do too? I'm also not trying to say I'm any more qualified for the role than anyone else here, this is plain curiosity.
