It's still early days on this project, what with me only just finishing the script under a week ago. But it's in the artists' hands now, and I know he's going to do a great job (just look at that bloody promo). Anyway, are there any Blind Dead fans here? I've only seen Tombs of the Blind Dead - which I won on ebay for an insanely good price (can't wait for the Blue Underground boxset). I liked it a lot - especially because the Blind Dead themselves are actually a great concept.
Sacrament of the Blind Dead plays like a faux-sequel to the original film. It's set in the small countryside town of Surgi, France and starts with Daniel Martin, the protagonist, returning there at his dying Grandfather's request. It seems that while Daniel was living in Europe for the past ten years his Grandfather discovered the towns deepest, darkest secret - that nearly 900 years ago his oldest decendant, Father Martene, had five innocent men killed and hung before the town. Those men, Knights Templar, swore an oath to come back one day to exact their revenge on Martene's bloodline.
What Martene didn't know was that a group following the Knights took their corpses and hid them in the catacombs beneath the church, in their own tomb. They put a curse on the tomb that would, aparantly, bring the Templars back to life should anyone disturb their slumber prior to the oath. When his Grandfather passes away, Daniel tools up and heads down to that tomb to try and hit them first - unaware of the curse, and also that there's more to his family's dark past than he realises.
