Me and my friend got into this crazy argument the other day. I said that most Michael Crichton films have some horrendous death scenes. That the characters are usually scared about whats going to get them next and whats coming around the corner. I said that while they are primarily categorized as a Sci Fi film they can be categorized as a scary movie as well. Sphere, Jurassic Park, Congo, etc they all have some pretty scary moments. Andromeda Strain is my favorite Crichton Book and while the movie was aired on A&E I heard the DVD is a directors cut. I want too see it because I'm sure it will scary me at least once in the film?
What do you think, are movies like Andromeda Strain, Jurassic Park, Congo, etc scary enough to get that category?

You know, I would not say they are 'scary', but they are certainly suspenseful and tense. I think for myself I would have to say on the first viewing 'The Sixth Sense' was the one movie that actually 'scared' me as an adult (Ie: gave me that creepy, what the f*ck is going to happen next vibe), and watching 'The Blair Witch Project' on a dark night stormy night with all the lights off was pretty freaky too.
