this is a thread I started on another forum, gonna repost it here because im interested to see some more peoples point of view on this.

I really want to get a discussion going on this, whats up with the rampant , raging, out of control george lucas hate these days?

me personaly, I dont get it.

the original 3 star wars films were a brilliant sweeping epic saga that stands the test of time very well.

the 3 newer star wars fall well short of the standard set by the original 3 movies, however, they are far from the steaming piles of shit most people make them out to be, comparing the 3 newer films to the 3 older films yea they got alot of questionable CGI, some poor casting choices, some wonky plot points, but seriously they are leaps and bounds better then 85% of the crap thats been coming out at the theater for the past 10 years, so while they are not nearly as epic or classic as the originals and by no means great, they are by no strech of the imagination "bad"

same with indiana jones - while by and large they are stephen spielbergs movies lucas played a big part in them as well, the original 3 are some of the best all time action movies and gave us one of the most iconic movie characters of all time - the new indiana jones IMO was a great movie - not everyone agrees with me on that, and thats fine I can see where some folks might not like it with its new style and new plot points etc - however - saying it is bad simply because george lucas was involved with it is silly , and to say months before its release that it is going to suck just because he is involved was even crazier.

I am by no means a george lucas "fanboy" ( ****ing hate that term ) I am actualy fairly impartial to the man , though I will admit the original star wars movies are some of my favorites of all time.

being a somewhat impartial george lucas "fan" having enjoyed the original 3 star wars movies and the original 3 indiana jones movies, and seeing where the new indiana jones and the new star wars isnt for everyone - I can not at all wrap my head around the insane amount of hate for george lucas, people talk about him like his the anti christ going around killing babies and cooking puppies and kittens.

every new movie his name is even remotely attached to in any way shape or form people crucify and say it will suck simply because he is attached to the project.

yea his newer work isnt as epic or as good as his older work, but seriously, whats up with all the hate? I honestly do not get it.

Well personally I think the 3 original star wars are great movies. I think the fact that he has so much money, so much artisic freedom that he did whatever he wanted with the new star wars which resulted in IMO 3 overall bad films. I dont know how the inner workings of the first 3 went or whatever.. but the writing (done by him right?) was terrible. Just terrible dribble that even great actors (Ewan ect) couldnt make sound good. Plus relying on CG is just bad..... How many times must we cringe when Obi won was messing around with a total CG character...:puke:

I dont hate the guy though.. just dont think the new star wars lived up to the old ones.. and thought that they were bad films as stand alones.

I say if there is ever goign to be another star wars.. that he lets someone else write them, take out the over abundance of cg, get a lead that can act, and take out most of the cheese... good flick.

Indiana Jones 4 was GREAT!!! on another note I dont understand all these people saying they wont see Indiana becasue of Shia Lebouff being in it...
